Bought these 2e wide fit shoes for my child to wear to school. He's had them for 2 weeks and says they feel good to wear and only took a day or 2 to wear in. I've bought Ascent brand before and they stood up to daily wear for a year and were in a good condition to pass on to charity. After trying a different brand last year, that didn't last, I've gone back to Ascent.

They are very well made and comfortable for the kids to wear as a formal shoe, but with flexibility for kicking a ball and running around at school. My son is incredibly hard on shoes, destroying some brands in under a week. These last him 6 + months. I won’t purchase any other brand.

Very comfortable, stylish school shoe. My 10 and 12 year old boys love the comfort and it fits their orthodics. The shoe was recommended by our podiatrist because it looks like a formal school shoe but performs like sneakers due to the sole support/shape. Leather is breathable so the shoes never smell! No need to wear-in as they are comfortable from the first day. We have bought this style from Athletes Foot for years and love their foot analysis machine/video to help with size and fit.

These shoes are excellent. One pair will last until your child grows out of them- which is usually 12 months. They are made and tested in southeast Queensland so they are perfect to Brisbane weather and humidity - ie the glue will hold. We tried another famous brand in year 1 - they fell apart in the first week. Have been buying these ever since. Superb quality and support. They may cost more than a cheap pair but you only buy one set per year, and if you polish them occasionally they will look good till the end. I can’t fault them.
Its hard to find formal school shoes that kids are happy to wear. My son has been wearing these Apex shoes throughout his secondary schooling. We manage to get the whole year out of a pair but they are ready for the bin by the end of the year. He even plays basketball & AFL footy in them at recess/lunch breaks so they get treated quite harshly. I make sure to keep up the polish & leather treatment paint a few times during the year. Just cant beat them for comfort!
Bought for my 10 yr old daughter. My kids have been wearing this brand shoe for years! Just up another size. high quality, high comfort, great fit for her narrow foot and great support. A sport shoe in disguise.
Great formal shoe, only reason we had to replace as child’s feet have grown, got to love those teenage boy growth spurts where I swear they wake up each wk 3 inches taller! The pair lasted 2yrs & 1/2yrs and went through 2 teenage sons and they still have more life left in them, they will be polished up and given to some one who needs shoes now. I would highly recommend this brand school formals shoe not only for comfort but longevity of life with teenage boys who are typically hard on shoes.
Super comfy right from the start. Unfortunately can’t vouch for durability. The shoes have lasted about 1 term - my son has managed to put a whole thru the leather toe right through to the plastic reinforcer. Everything else about the shoe is perfectly fine which is a real shame. I know my boy plays hard and is by no means gentle with his footwear, but I haven’t had this trouble to the same extent with any other school shoes. Sadly won’t be buying again… a great shoe in every other way, but seems to not be able to stand up in terms of wear and tear.
These shoes have been a great choice for our son and recommended by his podiatrist. With good support and excellent wear on the sole most aspects of the shoe have not disappointed. However, I must echo some of the previous reviews and point out that the durability of these shoes is appalling. Lasting 6 months at best on an active child. The leather upper does not hold up to the day to day abuse school shoes are subjected to. The ascent sports style school shoes are far more durable but are not appropriate for formal uniforms.
What a hard working and super comfortable shoe this is - I am now on my third pair but the first pair lasted so well and so long (I think about 5 years?) that the second pair was hardly used - just for special occasions. Now they are my everyday shoes and the brand new ones are reserved for special. At this rate I have 10 years of use left in my Ascents and Best of all the price is so reasonable compared to the likes of Merrell and their Ilk. Sorry Athletes Foot - it will be a while before I will be back to buy more shoes.
