In 1993, Asics celebrated the launch of the Gel Kayano series, christened with the name of its designer Toshikazu Kayano. This oriented to his own needs and thus designed a shoe that could be used both for jogging and indoor training. In 2020, Asics therefore already launched the 27th version! With the Gel-Kayano 13, Toshikazu Kayano ended his work on the Gel-Kayano series and handed over the responsibility to new designers. Kayano couldn't imagine his shoes off the running track at the time, yet he's flattered that the retros of his running shoe line have now firmly established themselves in the lifestyle segment. Collaborations with sneaker stores and streetwear brands also enjoy great popularity. Angelo Baque already collaborated with Asics with his own brand Awake NY. After two colorways on the GEL-Kayano 5 360 and a GEL-Preleus, it's now the turn of the GEL-Kayano Trainer 21. The upper is made of suede as well as a coarse mesh in various shades of gray - these harmonize perfectly on the runner. Color accents are set by 2 suede panels on the heel in red and blue. A tonal branding on the mudguard shows that this is the third collabo between Asics and Awake NY.
