Toshikazu Kayano will be best known for the legendary Gel Kayano series from Asics. But the designer also proved that he can design true gems outside of running with his debut for Asics, the Asics EX89. The sneaker was first worn on court by Kurt Rambis and Micheal Cooper of the Lakers in 1988, at that time still under the name Gel-Extreme. A year later it was released as a high and low-top. The low-top is celebrating its comeback this year and fits seamlessly into the current zeitgeist. The EX 89 also has real daily driver potential with its white smooth leather upper! The black in the Tiger Stripes creates a harmonious contrast. Green details in the sole and the tiger stripes and the colour-contrasting midsole complete the colour palette.
