I have been wearing Gel Kayano for as long as I can remember. I purchased these last year and found them so horribly uncomfortable after one wear that I brought them and leave them at my personal trainer’s where I use them in only indoors 1 hour 2- 3x per week. They still look brand new.Such a difference in construction and materials from former models of Kayano. The upper feels so cheap and reminds me of arts and crafts polyurethane that you can cut with a scissor.My feet run hot, so I wear a thin sock. The upper pu construction is actually scratchy through a thin sock. Will never buy Kayano again.Am looking to other models instead. This is the 4th pair of kayanos I’ve bought over the years. I normally love them but this edition was weird in the back. It’s like the back of the shoe (the part that goes over the heel) is super short. It’s odd and because it’s so short, it causes my heel to slip out the entire time during my runs. The shoes are comfortable regardless but I don’t know if these are just defective or if this was the intention. Strange. I kept them nonetheless. Not my favorite pair.

These trainers have been a wonderful help to me with plantar fasciitis. Wearing these and doing foot exercises have made it easier for me to walk properly again. It is not fully healed but my feet are not sore wearing these and are way more better than they were. Recommend these to anyone suffering from this as they have definitely helped me on my road to recovery. Find though that they are only supporting me for six months and have to change to new ones, but think it’s the fact I wear them all the time. I tried the 29 but find the 28 much more comfortable.
Bought these trainers for general walking after foot surgery which had left me with some pain and discomfort from subsequent arthritis. My surgeon said I was over pronating when I walk and these are recommended for this. I do think they have helped me regain a correct walking gait. They are really comfortable for walking and give good support. They have a wide toe base which helps as I have a bunion on my other foot. My only criticism would be they are quite "stiff" when you first wear them as the lacing is tight ( which can be altered) but soften up after a while. They look good and the colour is nice and bright. Would definitely recommend as a walking/ hiking shoe for someone with foot issues
Purchased the latest model of the Gel Kayano, what a great shoes. Extremely comfortable and I feel 100% supported by them. I over pronate badly as my arches have collapsed so this shoe gives me the exact support I need. My physio suggested that I wear this shoe rather than anything else as my feet will be provided with stability and support. Love the colour too, a nice spring/summer colour. I highly recommend these trainers especially if you have a foot issues or weakness in the foot or ankle.
I have been trying to get used to these shoes for a couple of months. I started developing foot pain in my left foot after using these on a regular basis. I thought maybe I was forming a bunion. It was really painful. Then I tried using my old shoes for a while, and the pain stopped for two weeks. Tonight I thought I would give it another try, and as I was running, the foot pain started back again, this time in both feet. The pain is on the inside ball of my foot and is causing sharp shooting I thought maybe the shoes were too narrow, but they are not. I am not sure why these are so uncomfortable. I have purchased many ASICS in the same size and style, so I am not sure why. These are so different and causing so much pain. Very disappointing.
I received my gel-kayano 28 and after the 2nd time wearing them I noticed the cushion on the back was collapsed and was irritating my heel. I am 66 years old and only run 3 miles on my treadmill at home. I have tried to exchange the shoe but am getting nowhere! They tell me that it is not covered under warranty because I improperly put the shoe on. REALLY?? I received my shoes on October 21st and my first call to them was November 2nd. I filled out all their forms sent 4 pictures as requested Their tribunal denied the claim. I called again and I was told there was no supervisor on staff in the evening. I was supposed to receive a phone call from a“supervisor”yesterday and did not. It is November 11th. The Gel Kayano 28 has more padding in the surface area of the shoes. It feels more springy. The shoes have more cushion in the sole and I look taller in them than Kayano 26. The only thing is that the 28 model is not suitable for someone with chubby or wider feet. It is narrower at the front and middle of the shoes due to the heavy padding. The heel area also pushing inward so if you have big ankles they may not be the best. I had needle pain and burning sensation when I run in them when they are new.
