The ASICS GEL-Kayano 28 is an all-weather trail running shoe designed for road and trail running. The FlyteFoam midsole material in the midsole reduces the impact with every step. It also has a Duomax support that avoids the deformation of the medial midsole when the foot rolls inwards due to the runner's pronation.

They too provide good stability and cushioning, however, when fully laced up, there is space between eylets and the tounge of the shoe, where my foot is uncovered and unprotected. I have to double check that the tounge is as flat as possible to cover my foot.I bought exactly the same size and width as the last time, yet its upper is completely different. How come there is space between upper and the tounge? Pics taken without socks so not as visible as when with socks. They also feel like designed to last one season. I only bought them about a month ago, and to me they already look beat up (after 6 x 2 hour outside walking sessions), while GEL-CUMULUS 23 G-TX (4months), GEL-KAYANO 25 OBI (2years4months), Trabuco Max (1 year) and GEL-QUANTUM INFINITY(3yr4months) all look like new.I would return them if I could and go for non-goretex Cumulus instead, the sole feels indestructable and my foot is properly protected in my Cumulus-G-TX's, however, these are too worm on hot days.Altogether I have 7 pairs of (casual & training) shoes, various Asics (6) and one pair of indestructible trail running Salomons, and I feel like I will be looking elsewhere for my next trainers. I will not be paying for so poorly designed yet highly priced product.Feels like overengineered or, worst, sales/data analysis people got to determine durability and quality on new models.Asics, durability was your strong point, without it, you will not be worth the price.... Kayano 28
17 October 2023
I've used Kayano for many years and swear for them. However, when I bought this model the first time and did my first run on them, I got a really bad fascitis... Maybe it was just coincidence. Nontheless, I found them on the bulky side compared to previous models, so I bought the MK model as it's a bit lighter. I don't use this model for running, but for everyday walking as it has a casual look and still provide great support. This is acutally my second pair as the firs one is worn out.... Show more

Marathon training
2 July 2021
So I started my running in January 2021 doing the couch to 5k which I completed by the end of the month,, at thttimee I was using a treadmill and a normal pair of trainers. In February I completed a challenge of 56 miles for cancer research but actually doubled my efforts and did 112 miles still on a treadmill and with the same knackered old trainers.I then embarked on an ambitious plan to run this year's marathon. I went to a running shop and was put on a treadmill to see my gait and was advised to buy a certain brand of running shoe.Unfortunately for me these shoes were not good and caused me to get a slight injury.I returned to the store after seeing a foot doctor and told them what was wrong and they basically said there was nothing they could do.I used ... MoreSo I started my running in January 2021 doing the couch to 5k which I completed by the end of the month,, at thttimee I was using a treadmill and a normal pair of trainers. In February I completed a challenge of 56 miles for cancer research but actually doubled my efforts and did 112 miles still on a treadmill and with the same knackered old trainers.I then embarked on an ambitious plan to run this year's marathon. Not a quality I expected
9 November 2023
Disappointed with this model, shoes is clunky, too wide in toe are, sizing is wrong. UK size 8 of GEL KAYANO 28 is bigger the my previous GEL PULSE 12 shoes.I thought that these series would be considerably better than budget GEL PULSE series, as they cost twice the price.Right shoe inside next to toe has excess glue that is hard and was causing me discomfort for first few runs.Foam and impact absorbing is OK but maybe just little too soft.... Outsole not appropriate for cross-training anymore
2 June 2023
My first pair of Gel Kayanos was probably the 14. I’ve been buying new pairs every 1.5 years since for running, weight lifting and cross-training, including for Cross-Fit the past 5 years. What I found out the hard way with the 28s, is that the outsole is MUCH softer than previous versions, including the 27s, which I own. After two days at the CrossFit gym, I already had a tear in the outsole. It wasn’t until a couple weeks later that I realized it was from most likely from rope climbs. Thankfully, ASICS Customer Service didn’t really care that I was a long time customer and was quick to deny my warranty claim. Oh, and the 27s withstood multiple workouts with rope climbs and took it like a champ. Plantar fasciitis relief!
3 March 2023
I recently have undergone physio and for an ATFL injury only to discover just when my ankle started functioning as 'norm' I experienced severe pain and was told I had plantar fasciitis.I rolled my eyes thinking this was never going to end and my physio therapist told me about Asics and said have a research but they have footwear designed to help he swears by them.So off I went to my nearest store and the sales assistant was amazing *shout out to Wembley outlet* I told him from my research I need to try the keyano and the GT range to decipher what I need for day to day walking and eventually gym workout. He got me both and we tried the sizing with thin socks and thick socks, I was able to walk around in the shop, test if my feet were rolling to get a real feel ... MoreI recently have undergone physio and for an ATFL injury only to discover just when my ankle started functioning as 'norm' I experienced severe pain and was told I had plantar fasciitis.I rolled my eyes thinking this was never going to end and my physio therapist told me about Asics and said have a research but they have footwear designed to help he swears by them.So off I went to my nearest store and the sales assistant was amazing *shout out to Wembley outlet* I told him from my research I need to try the keyano and the GT range to decipher what I need for day to day walking and eventually gym workout. He got me both and we tried the sizing with thin socks and thick socks, I was able to walk around in the shop, test if my feet were rolling to get a real feel and Gel-Keyano were PERFECT!!!My foot immediately felt relief and I said I need this trainers.Unfortunately the store didn't have my size so I had to order online but I do NOT regret this purchase I will pay for quality and comfort anyday.Thank you.Gt2010 are my next pair for gym!!!... The best supportive running trainers on the market
11 October 2023
The only trainers I'll ever buy. I have weak knees and my cartilage is worn. I genuinely thought I'd never run again. Every other trainer I've owned have put me out of action after a few days. These trainers are the perfect trainer for running. I put on a lot of weight due to inactivity so I decided to spend a wee bit of money on these. I'm enjoying my running again and setting my goals without the fear of injury.... Show more

Wishing for the "good old days"
28 December 2022
The recent Gel Kayanos have not lived up to the reputation and performance of earlier versions, in my opinion. The "guts" of the shoe have been removed resulting in less support provided by the uppers and less durability of the soles. A "printed" design on the upper is just not the same as the multi-layer stitched Asics logo. And neither is the simplified sole composition. I have been a very loyal Gel Kayano user since the very beginning, in the early 90's because they enabled me to return to running & jogging. As a big pronator, the shoes have been a life (knee) -saver for me. I have purchased multiple pairs of every generation of Gel Kayano. I am very excited to hear that Asics is re-launching the Gel Kayano 14.
