ASICS customer service sucks

Unfortunately had to return. We have forever always only ordered the same size & same model. This time, the toe was different-shorter and harder that normal. I wore them a week thinking maybe I could break them in but then couldn’t bear the pain anymore. To return, you pay a restocking fee, then also pay for shipping if you want another size; you aren’t even able to exchange (even though it’s not your fault that now your shoe size no longer fits you). In addition, I purchased the black color for $89.95. When I went to re-order a 1/2 size up, the price went to $99.95. I asked them to honor the original price and their response was actually a joke (sounded like a 5 year old is working there). This is my third pair of the Gel Kayano’s. These have been the more comfortable shoes of any I’ve had and done well at supporting my pronation and previously injured ankle. However, I will not be purchasing these next time I need shoes. These shoes just do not last. The first pair started to wear through where my big toe is within a few months and got worse from there. The second pair the rubber on the bottom in the front started to come away from the sole in a couple places after a few months. ASICS was good about honoring their warranty and giving me a credit for a new pair, but now these are starting to do the same thing. I still have New Balance shoes that I don’t wear for running or working out anymore, but that I still wear if I’m running to the store, etc, ... MoreThis is my third pair of the Gel Kayano’s. Again, I think the comfort and support of these shoes are great, but for $160, they should really last a lot longer.

Great for Flat Feet

I bought a pair of these shoes during my time in the military. They are great for endurance running, and they left my feet feeling much better than any other shoe before it. These shoes have a break in period where they are tighter, so keep that in mind. I bought another pair of these shoes for automotive work, and they are holding up for now, although they are not as durable as work boots. I would highly recommend these shoes if you want something for running or everyday use, especially if you have flat feet. The inserts will slide in easily, and then the gel insole can rest on top of them. They are super comfy after the break in period.

I'll be wearing a different brand
23 December 2023

I never actually got a chance to wear these but I'm rating my overall experience as being 1 star. Despite carefully following Asics' instructions for selecting the correct size, the shoes were too small and needed to be exchanged. I expected being able to make a simple exchange for a larger size but Asics procedure is to have you return those for a refund (minus $4) and you have to make another purchase. I bought these during the black friday sale and expected to pay the same price for the larger replacements but their policy is not to honor the price I paid during the sale and to now charge full price. I didn't arbitrarily pick a size and hope for the best, I followed Asics' instructions. I didn't arbitrarily pick a size and hope for the best, I followed Asics' instructions. BTW, this required a second person marking a piece of paper with your toe position for both feet at the end of the day, convert the measurement of my longest foot to a metric value then cross-reference that value into the shoe size listed in their chart, no simple procedure. I spent quite a bit of time to compare/shop, measure, order, deal with customer service, repack, drive into town to the FedEx location and pay their $4 return fee. I still need shoes and Asics lost a customer.

Looking for older Gel Kayanos
6 March 2024

Been wearing Gel Kayano for 20 years. Some I liked more than others. The 29 seems very stiff and heavy. Also seems tighter in the toe box. Good cushion but I see why some have said too much. I should be past the break in period but still tight and stiff. Honestly this is the first time I’ve looked on eBay for some older Kayanos. I wear them for overpronation and this pair does help with that. But I also can’t wait to get them off after a run.

Love it. I keep coming back.
9 February 2024

Fits well overall. My feet are a full 10.0 in size, and I recently sized up from a 10 to a 10 1/2 and am much happier. I have a narrow heel and have had no issues. No slip. Toe box is a nice size and doesn't feel too constrained through the mid-shoe either.Lots of cushion (it's a full cushion shoe, after all).Seems to hold up well through ~350 miles or so. Start to feel some slight discomfort around that point, so have retired them about then.Have had ~5 pairs of these now and they're my go-to everyday trainer.

SUPERIOUR PERFORMER
29 March 2024

Pleasant appeaance and color cobination to begin with. Excellent feet for my slim feet and neurtrual pronation. This shoe performs well and the wight is reasonble. The "spring" factor is just right. It's comfortable and at the same time controlable. no need to walk on a "cloud"or down. it is a well balanced shoe, appears durable and most importantly does the job of training well. I use it for working out and teaching low impact awerobic classes.

Supportive Running Shoe
1 December 2023

Supportive running shoe that provides good motion control with ample cushioning. The shoe is properly engineered to look in the feet without needing to tie the laces overly tight. This is a much more substantial shoe than the cheaper runners in the Asics lineup but still very lightweight. The higher price is justified for anyone needing a supportive, light shoe for high mileage running or to keep things in line if there's biomechanical issues requiring some help from a motion-control shoe. One star removed only due to sizing inconsistency: My partner has worn various models of the Kayano over the years and was always the same size, but this in year's model he required a half size larger than usual. Toe box narrowing ruined it for flat feet
30 July 2023

Last few models the shoe keeps getting worse. A shoe podiatrist suggest for flat feet and pronation and as the toe box narrows more and more they are horrible! We need room for our toes! Flat footed people toes need room. I get corns now and never did until 28 model and 29 isn’t any better. I’m going to have to try another brand. They were amazing and so comfortable until the narrowing and I can not wear wide width. It’s strictly the narrow toe box that’s the issue. 29 I went up a half size reading reviews and glad I did they are tight. I’d love to get my hands on older models before these changes that completely made these go from the ultimate comfort to so horrible and make my feet hurt so bad.

Worst Asics Gel-Kayano I have Ever Bought
24 May 2024

I've used Asics Gel-Kayano as my daily shoes and running shoes since the Kayano 22, so you can say I really like them. They have awesome support for flat foot people like me, comfortable, durable, and the gel of course adds to the positive experience. My feet rarely hurt at the end of the day with these shoes. However, I wish I could return or get my money back for the Kayano 29. These are by far the most CHEAPLY made Kayano I have ever owned. I've used them as my daily shoe for 2 weeks, with normal use, just like my previous Kayano, and the sole is separating from the shoe, already. Ive NEVER had the sole separate from ANY of my Kayano shoes, and I have various pairs for daily, running, and just going out. The rubber on the bottom of sole began to separate from the shoe within the first week, as well. The fabric, is also made of a very cheap material, already fraying out at the front of the shoe. My previous Kayanos would never fray out, but rather tear because of my own fault. To top it off, theyre not nearly as comfortable as the previous Kayano shoes I have owned. With just 2 weeks of use, my feet ache just as much at the end of the day as the Kayanos that I had used for Over a Year of daily use. I hope I just got a lemon of a shoe, but this is very, very far from Asics quality.
