Asics Speed vs Saucony Speed

These fit very well for a narrow foot. It has a great lockdown feel. Compared to the Saucony Speed, these have a little less cushion in the forefoot but not thin like you would find on Adizero Pro. The traction and feel on your kickback is fantastic. They seem to have good balance and feel light on the kick. After a few long runs and a speed day, not complaints. Not sure if this a marathon shoe but can be used definitely up to a half.Saucony Speed is softer, Asics is a glove fit and even though they are the same weight, Asics feels lighter.

Decent shoe with major quality issues

Fun and fast shoe, but has some significant quality issues. The upper material is trash, holes began to form in the upper toe box just after a few runs. There is zero padding against the ankle and is stiff, if you wear low socks it will cause nasty chaffing and rubbing. The sole of the shoe is solid and shows very little wear after 300 miles of use. If the upper material was better and there was a bit of padding around the ankle this would be a fantastic shoe. Asics did warranty the shoes for me, but I will not get another pair of these. I've had 2 pairs and the same holes began to form very early on

The Magic Speed are my first Asics tempo/racing shoes, and after 20 miles in them, they will not be my last. I've used Asics shoes as daily trainers as the build quality is always excellent. The Magic Speed are no different. They are a superb tempo shoe which I am seriously considering for an upcoming 10K. The lockdown is secure, the fit is snug, and the AHAR rubber outsole is extremely grippy. The FF Blast midsole, whilst feels different to my much loved Novablast, works well combined with the midfoot carbon plate.I also love the striking colour!

Great for faster training and race days
15 June 2022

Ran in these twice since I got them, 1 easy and a Fartlek with a mix of easy, threshold and marathon paces. Definitely a shoe for speedy sessions. Very comfortable and with decent enough width in the toe box for me. I could feel the carbon plate and the rocker feeling in the midsole.I’d recommend it as a racer or for use in speedier workouts. Great value for money, taking in consideration it has a carbon plate in it. Excited about the next iteration already.

Not sure about the magic, but these are definitely nice and light. Good shoes for racing but seem like they wouldn't hold up to a lot of miles. Seem kind of flimsy, but I guess if you want a light shoe something has to go. Love the plate in the forefoot. Gives a nice boost on every step. I have been using them for tempo runs and really like them.

Magic speed produces magic runs

Even though the Meta Racers were not made in size 14 and I had to wear a size 13, I still loved them enough to wear three different color ways. When I saw them offered in a size 14, I jumped on the chance to buy them. I took them on an 11 mile run in the mountains with a 5.5 mile climb on a bike trail. They fit perfectly for me. The shoe seemed to nothing as I glided up to Copper Mountain. On the way down, they allowed me to fly down the path!I kept waiting for them to feel uncomfortable, but they kept me bounding the path. I hardly took the Meta Racers over 10 miles, because they were a tad tight during marathon training. However, the Magic Speed will see some 20 mile or more runs. They will be some great marathon training long speed runs! My purposes, I wanted them a tighter fit, a little narrower, and a firm responsive ride, i didn’t need a soft unresponsive shoe and Magic Speed nailed it with a size 14 offering!

Shredded My Achilles in First Run, Had to Return
19 August 2022

At mile 3, on my first run, my achilles felt like it was bleeding. I kept going because the shoe was fun and responsive and springy otherwise. I enjoyed the run aside from the pain, and I was hopeful it just needed to break in. The next day, I ran again, and had to stop early due to my achilles rubbing hard again. I've never had this happen with any other shoe, ASICS or otherwise. The back of the heel cut is hard, sharp and rigid. There is a tiny strip of padding, but it was not in the right place for me.I returned the shoe two days after trying it out.

Tempo-tastic daily trainer! Review after 25 miles

Overall this is a amazing shoe:The general upper is thin, breathable and stretchy and hugs the foot really well. The laces are the perfect length but I find the material hard to tie a knot. The tongue is minimal with a small padded section but is very comfortable. I found it takes some time to get it to sit on the foot in the correct position. I think a similarly minimal gusseted tongue would work better. The heel counter is minimal but sturdy and also has a thin padded strip for comfort. The midsole is amazing. It just has the perfect blend of cushioning, responsiveness and propulsion. I don't notice the plate so much - but I like that. These shoes feel natural and allow my feet to roll through the gait cycle very smoothly. The shoes were true to size for me in length and for someone with slightly wider feet I was pleased that the shoe has good width and a roomy toebox. The outsole rubber is thin but very grippy and resilient. I've had 2 runs in the rain and there were no issues at all.I will buy more of these shoes.

Very responsive ground feel, good transfer to forw

This was my first carbon plate shoe, and I am an ASICS loyalist. Currently rotating through Kayano 27, Hyper Speed and Sortiemagic LT2. The fit of the Magic Speed with a little more snug and rigid than those others for the first run or two, but then everything seemed to feel right. I religiously limit my running minutes to steer clear of overuse injuries, and when I exceed my those limits, I usually feel the penalty right away. The Magic Speed is the first shoe that I felt okay with a little overtime, with no ripple effects the next few days. I'm not sold on the carbon plate vs. traditional yet, but I am definitely impressed with the first few weeks.
