A great cheaper alternative carbon shoes

They are super light and excellent for 10 km or half marathon races. I have not tried the new Magic Speed 2, I think there have also been drastic improvements there! Personally, I do prefer the Metaspeed sky. But for almost half the price, it is totally justified! So, if you are a bit tight on budget but want to try a pair of cheaper shoes or a companion shoes to the Metaspeed sky for interval and tempo runs, I would highly recommend!

Love them ! They a fab running shoe and have really helped with my Achilles injury as they help to not strike or the toe or the heel! They’re very narrow which is prefect for my feet but may be something to note for other buyers . The delivery was really quick too - really glad to have gotten the sale price, wish I’d bought two pairs tbh.

Excellent value for money

I use Magic Speed for my speed trainings. They are super lightweight and the carbon plate at the front part adds a nice spring to my stride ( I am a forefoot striker, so its perfect for me). Still, Magic Speed loses when compared to MetaSpeed Sky, which I use for racing - its less cushioned and definitely less enegry saving. However, this is also reflected in the respecitve pricing. Bottom line is - Magic Speed delivers great value for its price class.

Fantastic shoe for intervals
10 May 2022

I really like this shoe because you get the feeling of flying forward. The FF Blast foam is feeling very good under your feeds and you really get that bouncy feeling when you run. This is for sure one of my most used shoes for faster intervals together with the Metaracer. I only have one thing I really do not like with the shoe and that is the upper shoe part. The net and the material are so thin and I have had a pair of this shoe before where the upper broke. There were two big holes on the outside of the shoe on both shoes. But overall I really like the shoe and that's why I have got a new pair and I cross my fingers that the outside of the shoe will not breake again.

Great Shoes!
29 December 2022

It seems like for years now I am constantly on the lookout for a great running shoe. Companies discontinue what worked and runners keep spending money to find a replacement. I like to run is snug fit shoes, not bulky. I want to have a feel of the ground. I did my homework and after reading various reviews I thought this shoe might work for me, and it does! Its cushion is just right and the forward propulsion as promised. I love to run in those shoes and bought a second pair before they get discontinued. I am a mid foot to for foot striker. Great shoe. I admit I did not run in Asics for many years. My runs a this time are between 6 and 13 miles and I am looking forward to run in these shoes!

Light & speedy
16 June 2021

I have been using the Magic speed for my track sessions and they are really light and speedy. My cadence/turnover felt fluid and fast in these new super shoes and I could feel I had great heel lift also.My only complaint is that the backs of the shoes are a bit harsh on the heel and Achilles, I had a bit of blistering after - there is an extra flap of material on the backs, so I plan to cut this off. The magic speed come up a little small so I went up half a size, but if you wear orthotics I would suggest going up a full size as I couldn’t get mine into them (the insole is fixed), but they have good arch support so I run without my orthotics in them ok.

Overall a great shoe
26 May 2021

Overall it is a fantastic shoe. Not as squishy as the new “Super shoes”. Which I personally like. Having the Carbon just in the first part of the shoe gives it that nice snap! But you can also run plenty of miles in it. Since it does have a good bit of runner. Making it a tiny bit heavier. The sizing is my only issue. I had to go to an 11.5 US. When all my other ASICS are a size 11 US. If they made this in a 11.25 it would be PERFECT, haha. But, sadly they don’t. So.... go a half size up and enjoy!

Runners Review
17 July 2021

4.5/5 I have tried a lot of ASICS/New Balance/ Nike’s and none are as good as the Gel-kayano 25. I’ve run multiply times in these and think they’re great, a close second to the kayano but, it’s tough to compare them since they’re so different. When running a 10k the back of the heal gets pretty uncomfortable, I assume due to the design of the cushion/fabric used in the heal. These might not be the best long distance shoes. They’re super light weight and the carbon plate puts a nice spring in your stride. Other reviews mentioned width issues, I have wide feet and high arches and ordered my normal ASICS size and they fit just fine.

Running on air
11 January 2023

Best money I've spent on running shoes. The "propulsion" and high toe drop really improved my speed. Was concerned that this shape might cause some discomfort but was pleasantly surprised. Shoes fit like a glove, beautifully lightweight, slim tongue and good size toe box. I run around 10k and they are comfortable for that duration. A pleasure to wear and like running on air.

why are sizes not standardized
16 August 2022

it was my own fault - I bought online and didn't try them for myself. After doing a bit of research I decided to buy the magic speed from Asics, as a change from my normal running brand. My usual brand is a small fit, and I therefore sized up with Asics also, out of habit. But the shoes that arrived were tiny. I was devastated, as they seemed light and comfy with a good rocker build and a breathable upper. I would have needed another two sizes bigger, at least. Had to return unfortunately. They seemed like a promising shoe, had the sizing been more standard!
