In 1993, Asics celebrated the launch of the Gel Kayano series, christened with the name of its designer Toshikazu Kayano. In 2020, Asics already launched the 27th version! With the Gel-Kayano 13, Toshikazu Kayano ended his work on the Gel-Kayano series and handed over the responsibility to new designers. Kayano couldn't imagine his shoes off the running track at the time, yet he is flattered that the retros of his running shoe line have now firmly established themselves in the lifestyle segment. The Gel-Kayano 14, the first "non-Toshikazu" Kayano, represents a milestone in the history of the Gel-Kayano line. The new edition retains the midsole equipment and GEL cushioning technology of the original. Slight adjustments have been made to the fit. Asics hits the spirit of today with this release. The layered leather and mesh construction is typical of the popular Millennial runners.
