I have previously owned and ran in ASICS GT 2000’s, this version (12) is very nice.First couple of runs 5 mile each for my feet to get used to them, have been running 10k 3
times a week and find them very comfortable with the right amount of support for me.As with ASICS making regular changes to the GT’s being a negative thing for some
people I don’t really have any negative opinions on them, the tongue being without padding and ventilated and the heel tab are definitely positives in my opinion. I half size
up as always. My favourite go to mild/moderate running trainer. Very nice.

I have been running in the GT-2000 series exclusively since 2015. I pretty much stopped running for the past couple years, but picked it up again about 6 months ago with a
new pair of GT-2000 10s. Dealt with some nagging shin issues, and I thought I may have started back too fast so I tried taking a break and coming back very slowly but the
same thing happened. Then I thought maybe it was the shoes, and maybe I just needed something with more cushion now. So I went to my local running store to try out a
bunch of different shoes and WOW, the GT-2000 has certainly changed. The 12 immediately felt much more cushioned than the 10, but still felt light, and the sta... Show more

I currently use these in a rotation as my daily trainer (also have superblast, endo pro 4 and a few others). I like the step-in feel of these and I love the 3D guidance. They are
light and versatile and quite comfy. The durability is the big issue. I have tearing on my right shoe in the heal and it's starting on the right side as well. The rubber outsole is
starting to peel (not wear, peel) in the back on both shoes. I emailed Asics customer service and they basically told me the tearing is my fault due to improper sizing. I have
been running for a while, I know how to size AND a quality shoe wouldn't tear anyway imo. I'm sitting at 240 km on these and I will be lucky to get to 400km, this i... Show more

I never would've thought that I would want a big change to a shoe I had been so loyal to for so long, but the updates have made them even more comfortable and more fun to run in. I've only taken them on a couple runs so far, but they felt great on both an easy run and a tempo run, and my shin issues were non-existent on both. Big fan of the GT-2000 12 and the updates they made.... Show more

I love these shoes BUUUT…….
2 October 2024
I recently had a rod put in my leg from having bone cancer. My therapist recommended these shoes to me to aid in balance and stability. I love these shoes. However what I don’t like is that for some reason the toe on my right foot wears out quickly. I don’t have long toenails or big toes but for whatever reason it always seems to wear out and a hole develops. I started gluing a patch on the inside to help in the west and tear. Other than that I love these shoes. ASICS has replaced them but it’s annoying because I never have this issue with any other shoe or sneakers I’ve purchased except these. I give 5 stars for stability and 3 for them wearing out. So I left something in the middle with 4 stars.... Show more

Im not a boomer but after that rant I feel like it
5 January 2024
The shoes were horribly on the small side. Uncomfortable isn’t even really a way to describe the shoes. I’m not sure what these new shoe companies that are popping up are trying to achieve but it just doesn’t seem possible with our current means on this planet. Most new shoes are horribly uncomfortable, or are built for specific situations that don’t apply to all people. Whatever happened to good, old, reliable, tennis shoes? Unfortunately, those days are gone and you’re stuck trying to navigate the mass of ‘fancy’ Tennis shoes, Running shoes, Training shoes, etc. etc. etc. Bring back a comfortable shoe for less than $100. We don’t want all the other pizazz.... Show more

More a recovery run shoe than daily trainer
28 September 2024
The shoes are a little on the bulkier-side, but very light despite that. Very comfortable and protective (at least up to half-marathon distances, which is the most I've done in this shoe, but I think they will hold up to marathon distance running). Upper is a little on the thicker side so feet can get hot when running in warmer weather. Grip in wet conditions is quite poor unfortunately (but I think this issue has been corrected in the GT-2k v13). Speed assistance is quite minimal in these shoes - you can run faster in these shoes but you will have to do the majority of the heavy lifting yourself as these shoes will not really help you in this regard. Build quality and durability is fantastic - I am positive this shoe will go to 400 miles quite easily. I didn't have ... MoreThe shoes are a little on the bulkier-side, but very light despite that. Build quality and durability is fantastic - I am positive this shoe will go to 400 miles quite easily. I didn't have any issues with the fitment of these shoes but obviously this will vary from person to person.Recommendation: If you're looking for a stability shoe for recovery runs and considering this shoe, my recommendation would be to buy the GT-2k 13. It seems to be much the same as this shoe, just better in practically every way and it seems to me that they've fixed the biggest issue of this shoe - the grip in wet conditions.Final note: Some info about me to hopefully provide a little more context: I've had this shoe for a few months now, and I've probably run about 80 miles in it. I'm a man in my late 20s, 5'9, 145 lbs. Not a competitive runner or anything, I just run for my health. I have pretty flat feet, which is why I was recommended and purchased these shoes. I'm not the fastest runner in the world, but I wouldn't say I'm a slow runner either. My general preference for a daily trainer is high stack (nice and protective as I run on concrete) but light and with good speed assistance technologies (as I definitely prefer running at "quicker" paces) but no carbon plate - I love carbon plates as much as anyone but I'm in the "Carbon Plates don't belong in Daily Trainers" camp.... New design sucks
11 September 2024
I've been wearing this shoe model and running 5 miles 4 times per week for years and it's been great. Now they've changed the design and I have instant back, knee, and shin pain. The heel is too thick or high and the shoe forces you to fall forward. I also have foot arch pain due to lack of arch support. They won't accept a return without a label attached?!! How can I test them with a label on? The outcome? Not shopping with Asics again, after years as a loyal customer. Very disappointing for $110, and now I have to find another pair and pay again with a different maker. Sucks.... Show more

Passed My Test
27 May 2024
A decade ago I probably would have avoided these based on the price tag alone. However, I was also able to try a size 12B on I a local store. I purchased the model "GT-2000 12" in a local store 3 days ago. They only look clunky. My priorities are my feet not sliding in them during body pump class, being able to maneuver without dragging my feet on the treadmill or road and having the necessary cushion, stability and support to walk in them pain free. They've passed the test with those requirements. The structural integrity issue others are unhappy with will be assessed over time.... Show more

Really Nice Shoes
11 May 2024
The GT-2000 12 is a very lightweight and comfortable shoe. I ran in ASICS running shoes back in the 1990’s but haven’t had a pair since then. These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. I wear them as lifestyle shoes and for walking. The fit is good and that is saying something for me. I am normally a New Balance man and wear a size 13 2E or 14 D in many of their lifestyle and running shoes. I ordered the GT-2000 12 shoes in 14 D and they fit fine with enough room in the toe box. I haven’t worn them enough to comment on durability but they appear well made. Just placed an order for two more pairs!... Show more

Tongue is rubbing my skin raw
9 June 2024
I’ve used ASICS running shoes for years, and really do love them. I actually really like these shoes as well. One little problem…the tongue of the shoe, while soft and comfortable, lays just flat enough that it rubs my ankle when I run and wears my skin raw. I use socks that are just high enough that they show but are just short enough that the tongue touches my skin.I’ve had several versions of the GT-2000s and this is the first time this has happened. Still love the shoe though. I’ve resorted to putting a bandaid on that spot to prevent further rubbing.... Show more
