Better than HOKAs! Highly recommend the Kayano 30!
I was advised by my Chiropracter to buy HOKAs for stability and comfort on my feet. I went into the store asking for the HOKA Bondi 8 or Gaviotta 5. The salesman asked me what were my goals with a shoe and I told him and he wanted me to be open to the best shoe for me not what "I thought was the best shoe for me based on some one else's recommendation." He had me try on four models, New Balance, Hoka Bondi 8 and Hoka Gaviotta 5, and the Asics Kayano 30. Bottomline the Asics Kayano 30 was the hands down winner. The shoe fits like a glove and the stability and cushioning is amazing. I bought two pairs I was so convinced, one for work one for walking/hiking. This shoe is a winner, definitely recommend to give it a try if you're looking for stability and supreme comfort!... Show more

Buyer Beware: Bad Shoe and Worse Customer Service
These shoes are not worth the money and ASICS does not stand behind their product. I have never had an issue with numbness in the ball of my foot until wearing the Kayano 30. When I contacted customer service regarding the issue I was told that they to don’t replace or refund shoes for “fit and feel” issues. To make things worse, the shoelace on the right shoes was six inches longer than the one on the left. ASICS refused to replace the laces stating “thelaces come with the shoe” and they do not have replacement laces for individual shoes. You are taking a $160 gamble when you buy these shoes from ASICS online. You need to be certain the “fit and feel” is spot on for you, because they will only refund you money for visible defects in the shoe itself. This is the ... I recommend you spend yourmoney with a company that stands behind its product.... Show more

Gel Kayano 30 - Disappointed
NOT A FAN OF THIS GEL KAYANO MODEL. I've worn GK's exclusively since the 14 came out and still believe this is the best running shoe out there. However, this version changed drastically from recent models. The biggest difference is the lack of toe room, especially compared to the GK 29. I usually wear a new pair for a few weeks before using them for my runs. I walked only 35 miles and the toe is already starting to tear. The rest of the shoe feels fine, but if you're a larger shoe size, you'll need to go up a size if you want the same comfort as other GK versions. Side note - I've been trying to find my size 15's in the GK 29 but there are none to find anywhere. Must've been popular!... Show more

I have worn some version of this shoe for 8 years
For 8 years I have worn some version of this shoe for running and now for walking. It has evolved over time, usually with small changes. This version is a big change from the past. It seems to be more intended for walking now than for running (although I cannot test it for the latter). It has improved on its original strength as an anti-pronating shoe. The sole is much more comfortable -- this is the first time I have not used an extra or supplementary inner sole. The price has increased many-fold -- I used to find older versions (with a bit of effort) for as little as $50. No more -- but this is the first version that it worth the list price!... Show more

Long time fan of Kayano, but these are better!
I have purchased ASICS Kayano for many years due to my running style and over pronation. They have always been solid shoes and generally little to no rubbage on inside of my feet unless I fail to wear socks or get moisture in there. The Kayano 30 are a game changer with padding in the upper step of the foot and provides a gentle lean, however very supporting foam cushioning to run in. I waited until I did a short, medium and long run to review this, however I will be sure to pick up a second pair to rotate. My legs generally feel better without the impact, surprising without a carbon plate in the shoe almost perceives that there is one.Would definitely recommend to anyone that is wanting a solid run shoe for medium to long runs. Low Quality, Bad Customer Service
I'd give 0 star for these shoes. It's the second time I buy Asics that did not last too long. Both shoes had big holes in the heels after just 3 months of use. I contacted customer and warranty service. After sending photos, they basically told me that it was my fault. The defects were due to use, not to its poor quality. They were so "nice and kind" that they even sent me a link with tips "how to wear my shoes". After years and years having shoes from many brands (never had shoes with holes in the heels), now Asics wants to teach me how to wear my shoes. So, I contacted then again, and then I got another email that ends with the following words: This claim determination has been confirmed and will not be reviewed further. Also, this person (who used to buy at least 2 pairs of Asics every year) won't let anyone in his family buy anything from Asics again.... Show more

May cause injury for people having heel issues
This shoes is very roomy and comfortable to wear at first. The feedback is completely different from previous generations. I bought it In November 23 and wear it from Marunochi store to Gynza. Then I took a taxi to omote-sando. Total time is about two hours and I felt pain at bottom of my foot near heel on both feet at exactly same spot. The pain continues after I took shoes off and didn’t stop until I took pain killer. While I was walking or riding, I never felt a hint of discomfort. But the pain was suddenly popped up to max pain without gradually appearing. It was like an instant switch. I didn’t run, fall, or tripped. I have no idea why it happened and it didn’t happen before I switch this shoes or after. So I am very confident it was this shoe caused my pain. I ... Nope ! do not buy !
I have purchased a new pair of Asics Gel Kayanos every spring for years. The new and improved Gel-Kayano 30 manufactured with a host of recycled materials is by far the worst pair of GK's I have ever purchased. I bought them in mid April 2024 for $220.00 and it is now June 2024 and the sole is worn down to nothing, the (recycled material) top mesh is opening up and they look like crap. The thing is; these are my walking shoes, hense I only walk in them. I do not run or jog anymore. I have resorted to wearing my old pair of GK 29's for now. The GK30 is crap and destined for wearing around the yard to cut grass etc. It may explain why this "new model" of GK30 are "on sale" already and the 31 is already on the market. Not So Stable
When I first tried these on, they felt great. I need a stability shoe due to plantar fasciitis & neuroma issues. This shoe is billed as a stability shoe, but now that I've worn it several times, I feel the opposite of stability. Maybe it's because of the cushioning, but I feel like my feet are constantly moving around inside the shoe as I walk. The result is more foot pain and not less. Now I have a basically brand new pair of shoes that I don't want to wear. Unfortunately Asics does not have a "comfort guarantee" like Brooks & Hoka do.I gave 2 stars because the quality of the construction and materials. (plus they look nice)I'm disappointed in this purchase and would not recommend this shoe as an alternate to the Brooks Beast or the Hoke Gaviota.... Show more

Running Store and Collegiate Runner Viewpoint
I bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The shoe now guides you towards running through the center of your foot, rather then pushing you towards center mass with dense foam underneath your arch. It still supports your pronation, but uses a wider base and a thicker sidewall to hold your foot up. Similar to that of Hoka or Brooks shoes, but I like the Asics way the most so far. The shoe has been great. Contrary to other reviews I do not have an issue with the sizing, I can run in 11.5, but get 12's because I get ingrowns and it fits as I'd hope. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the ... The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the goal and it still does the job well. I 100% recommend this shoe to runners looking for some stability in their shoes, but it is no longer going to support those with more severe pronation as much as they want and is moving away from what many walkers in my store tend to ask for. Unfortunately this is the future of running shoes (following Hoka's footsteps to be honest), so if you don't like it grab the Kayano 29 asap. The rocker has felt great on my runs, the cushion is soft and dense which I love, and the fit is very consistent arch wise and width wise for Asics (a touch narrower in the heel, but roomy toe box similar to Brooks). It has felt great for anything from speed work to my longer runs, though those are only 6 miles right now. Great shoe, but if you are not sure, go to your local running store and try it on if you can.... Show more
