A good training partner for mid to long runs

I bought this show to use on my mid to long runs as part of a cycle of shoes to use during a phase of a marathon training. These were comfortable straight out of the box and I
was able to take them on a 10 mile run, I would say that they have increased in comfort following a breaking in period, I'm now up to 60+ miles and they feel like they have
moulded to my foot. I have used them on a few tempo runs and they are comfortable but not particularly lightweight or responsive. They do provide a good level of support
due to the light truss and this is definitely more forgiving than the due max of previous models. I found the outsole to be pretty poor in the wet, it offered little gri... Show more

Blistering on side of ball of foot.

Something changed with this version; I am getting a blister below the joint between the big toe and the 1st Metatarsal on my right foot; just where you would expect a bunion
to form. I have worn ASICs GT-2000 family for over 10 years and have never had this problem before. I am using the same size and width, and the same socks. It feels like the
ball of my right foot is bottoming out more easily. I know that the insert material is new, so I will try swapping it out with inserts from my old 8s or 9s to see if that makes a
difference. Right now I am limited to short runs and am rotating between these 10s and the 9s and 8s hoping the blister will go away. These short 5+ mile runs a... Show more

Shoe is light-weight, very comfortable, and the fit is close to "true to size". I wear Men's US size 9 in almost all brands or EU 42. In this shoe, the 8.5 is too tight but the 9 fits
perfectly so I will agree that it's true to size. Note in the chart that ASICS calls US 9 equal to EU 42.5.This is more of a neutral fit in the ASICS line and a typical running shoe
you would expect from many shoe manufacturers. For example, ASICS higher-end shoe, the Kayano line, has a more curved shape to it at the toe (more tactile), like a rocking
motion when you run, but the bottom of the GT 2000 is less curved like a standard running shoe so there will be no surprises. It's a very comfortable shoe and th... Show more

I am a midfoot striker so "unfortunately" can't comment on the gel heel.... Show more

I would give the previous two versions 5 stars. These previous versions were an improvement over previous models, feeling lighter, better ventilated, more cushioned, and importantly, it is harder for my big toe to blow through the top of the shoe. This blow-through is usually a cause for shoe retirement, along with just hitting my arbitrary 400 mile limit.... Show more

Disappointment :(
1 August 2022
At first, I absolutely LOVED this shoe. It felt springy & cushy when starting out on a run/walk. Sizing is consistent with other Asics running shoes I've worn over the years. I love the colors. However, as I continued to wear these particular shoes, they caused so much friction (unnoticeable until about 2-3mi) on my Achilles areas that it rubbed the skin off to the point of bleeding & created painful abrasions (I was a couple miles from home when this started happening, so I couldn't just stop). Once this healed, I tried to continue wearing them by putting band-aids over the affected areas, but the band-aids always came off when I started sweating, & the same problem with the friction then began again. I really, really, REALLY tried to love these shoes, but I can't wear them, so they've turned out to be extremely disappointing! :(... Show more

Major changes to the GT 2000
6 April 2022
I have worn this shoe for over a decade. It is my go-to shoe. The model changes slightly with each new release, for sure. I ordered my regular size but with this change, the model has lengthened by a full half size. Taking out the hard shank for the stability that runs through the shoe has lead to this increase in length that I was not expecting. When I placed my order, the details on the Asics site did not mention the major changes to the construction of what has been the mainstay of stability in the Asics range. The GT 2000 is no longer the stability shoe it was. The changes have sacrificed stability for additional cushioning. My order placed in the UK was shipped from Germany for some reason. The GT 2000 is no longer the stability shoe it was. The changes have sacrificed stability for additional cushioning. My order placed in the UK was shipped from Germany for some reason. It took a full week to reach me, it was too long when it arrived, and I had to send it back and am still awaiting my refund. So, in the meanwhile, I have done 2 things: 1) bought the GT 2000 model 9 online elsewhere in my regular size because that shoe lasted me a full year and was just brilliant; 2) tried on the Kayano in a half size smaller --because the Kayano is now the stability shoe for Asics-- and I bought it. Discussing these two shoes in the Asics range with my local shoe seller in Sevenoaks, Kent, UK, we decided that the GT 2000 is still good if you only pronate mildly, but the Kayano is the go-to for major stability plus cushioning. Note that the arch has been omitted in both the GT 2000 and the Kayano. Not a big deal for me as I add my own orthotics, but, buyers should definitely try both before buying as neither shoe is as it was in previous models.... Show more

Second pair of ASICS and I don’t regret it!
20 February 2023
My second pair of ASICS. Initially bought the Gel Kayano for Gym use and needed a second pair for every day walking. These are so comfortable, supportive and help maintain stability for those who struggle with overpronating. I’ve also sustained a back injury due to weakened core/pelvic muscles and walking is a struggle. When wearing these shoes, I can feel the significant difference in support that they provide compare to Nike. Walking is less painful during my recovery phase and that’s how I know these are super reliable and supportive. For those with wider feet, it’s worth sizing up half a size.... Show more

Solid trainer
1 October 2023
Have run in the GT series on and off for 15+ years. This model continues to be a solid workhorse for daily training, with a decent dose of stability. The lighter weight vs. older models is a plus, though the heel transition continues to be less than ideal (the Nike Infinity Run 2, while not a stability shoe, is a shoe that feels really smooth from my heel strike to toe off). Comfortable and durable, these are my go-to shoes when I want some more stability - and are great for ~8-9 min paces. For faster runs or 5k's, I use my DS Trainers. For my longer runs (8-10 miles) on smooth roads, something that rolls better (like the aforementioned Nike's) are easier to go a bit faster more naturally - but can't go wrong with the GT's for dependable use.... Surprisingly Good
28 June 2023
I used the old GT2000 series of the nineties etc until they were replaced by the GT2 and now the the new GT2000 series. Loved the old shoes and they never gave me any problems over many years. These new GT series shoes seem about on a par as you follow the update iterations. Plenty of toe room for my arthritic toes, good arch support and surprisingly comfortable cushioning on a run. Stability is excellent in controlling pronation. The shoe tread seems to have been more aimed at smooth road surfaces but still works OK on off-road work as long as it is not too severe.A good all-round shoe that works well without being over expensive... Timeless classic

Energising , uplifting and motivating . These trainers are my soul mate and have been with me for my impressive 26 years of distance running ! I purchase a new pair every 9-12 months - the comfort , support and cushioning allows me to soar and glide rather than plod and strain . I have never had a knee problem and rarely need to stop due to injury : I am confident the core and design of these trainers are contributors and have never discovered any better . The increased impact of running on joints and bone of a veteran runner make us cautious and concerned about long term consequences . These have never failed and I still feel invigorated , spirited and vitalised during and after running .... Show more

Very Poor Quality
25 June 2023
I bought these shoes last year because I work in the medical field and needed a shoe that could withstand long hours of standing/walking. After a few months of wear I noticed the fabric lining on both heels starting to wear away, creating holes. Over time this only worsened and got to a point where I could no longer wear the shoes because the plastic material was now poking and creating blisters on my heels. At the time, I reached out to ASICS customer service twice informing them of the problem, providing multiple pictures in the correct format of what had happened. On both occasions customer service replied saying that the pictures provided were not in JPG format (they were) and that they could not review my claim. These were the first and now last pairs of ASICS ... MoreI bought these shoes last year because I work in the medical field and needed a shoe that could withstand long hours of standing/walking.
