Still trying to find a comparable shoe to the Nike Alphafly. The Alphafly is my favorite shoe for running and for seemingly similar effort, I run 20-30 seconds faster per mile.I was hopeful the Metaspeed edge would approach that performance. For only about $50 per pair less I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, they are a good shoe that is light and supportive. However there is not the noticeable bounce that you get with the Alphafly.I need to put a few more miles on them to really see what they are capable of but not really wowed right now.

I have worn Kayano's for around 12 years. Upgraded to the Metaspeed Edge a month ago. Have done 2 runs this far. 1 x 10km and 1 x 21.1km. After the 10km I could hardly walk for 2 weeks. After the half around a week. So getting better. The shoes is amazing. Improved my pace by 15 secs or more per km. The grip is one of the best I have experienced, several times better than my Nike Air Alpha Fly Next Percent (NAAFNP) and Adidas Boost DNA. Cushioning is comparable to the NAAFNP. Corning in these shoes is easier and more supportive than any shoe I own. I want for a slip on shoe with fake laces or none, rather than a lace up. However my main concern with the shoe is that I got a size 12, same size as the past 12 years of Kayano's I have purchased. Unfortunately though ... MoreI have worn Kayano's for around 12 years. Unfortunately though these shoes are causing me lots of grief with my toes rubbing on the upper. So much so that my toes end up bleeding during the run and end up severely bruised for days to come. Doctors and Physios advise me not to continue wearing the shoe. I am hoping that more use may stretch the upper toe chamber so that this issue ceases. Not sure if with this shoe it was advised to go up a shoe size. I didn't see any recommendations for that. If I had my time again I would most likely order a 13 to be safe, because I love the shoe itself. Any feedback on whether the upper will stretch would be appreciated.

I over pronate and I was looking for a marathon shoe that provides me stability while running. The Metaspeed Edge does not feel as if you have a carbon plate, however it does provide you propulsion as you increase your cadence. Because you don't feel you have a carbon plate, this is an ideal shoe most definitely for runners who want to use a carbon plate shoe but have been hesitant to run in them because of the bouncy awkward feeling. I am a pronator runner and this shoe provides me stability and ease to run without feeling that carbon plate feeling under my feet. Definitely recommend this shoe!

Have only done one short run, but as always ASICS just works for me. I was worried about the stability but the shoes felt good from the start. They are a bit smaller than the other ASICS I have, but still worked fine. The colours well speak for itself, and by far the ugliest shoes I have ever bought therefore only 4 stars.
Light weight and comfortable enough for a wide foot. I normally run in the ASICS GT2000 for daily training. The Metaspeed's are snug for now. I hope they don't rub me raw during the marathon we will see. Asics you should make a wide racing shoe for us with sasquach feet. Thanks
I first saw Lisa weightman and Jess trengrove in these shoes and wanted them! I am also a huge fan of the ASICS novablast and together this combination is incredible! Running in the metaspeed has to be experienced by any runner. I love the marathon and will condition my feet to run in these over long distances. They feel incredibly light, comfortable, springy, a little noisy but I just love them! Love the brightness. They do run smaller, I usually buy size 8 and had to return them for a size 8.5. I would buy them again for sure
I tried my metaspeed edge out on the track first to get a feel, they are a stiff runner with great cushioning and very responsive to picking up the pace. 12 X 400s with a 6 to 8 second improvement on my usual comparison. First real run was at parkrun with a little windy conditions, got a 36 second PB after 1 run. 18.44 in my normal ASICS gel nimbus vs metaspeed edge 18.06. Definitely would recommend if you want to improve your times, can't wait to see what my times will be in a half marathon. Thanks ASICS
I was very excited to get these on my feet. They feel great on foot and lock your foot down nicely. They have a different feel to the vapourfly - more like a traditional shoe. I went for a tempo run in them and while they felt good I didn't feel anything special. I looked at the stats and saw that my cadence was the same as it would be on a normal run. The next time I took them out for 8 x 1km repeats. I made a point of increasing my cadence when I felt tired and wow. They came into their own and without an increase in perceived effort, just a quicker cadence, they felt fantastic and I maintained my pace. Have used them since and same result - great when you increase your cadence.
I’ve only recently bought these, but straight up took them for a 30km spin on an undulating route. The results were impressive, my time was quicker without intending it to be and my legs felt so much better; they were tired but no achy. The shoe doesn’t have as much padding or foam like the new running shoes, so a bit like low profile tyres may give the impression that it’s going to be a hard run. However, I found them comfortable and responsive. My only lingering thought is how long will they last, i.e., how many runs are in them. I look forward to finding out. This is definitely a shoe I will reserve using for racing instead of training. Love, love, love the colour!
When the Edges came to market, I purchased a pair from this ASICS website. Before I made the purchase, I used the website size check and compared against 3 other brands. In all cases, ASICS recommended I buy a pair 1-1.5 sizes smaller than normal. I ended up purchasing a pair sized 0.5 less than normal just in case. When they arrived, they were completely snug. I would have sent them back for a bigger size but they are now all sold out. Therefore, I gave them a run out for 6 miles and now have blisters for the first time in a long time. Really unimpressed. It’s a shame because the shoes themselves are lovely…more stable than a number of the supershoes …and so was really excited to see what difference they could make to a cadence runner like me.
