A perfect race shoe for both short & long distance
I just set a personal best using these shoes at the Philadelphia Marathon last Sunday. As a middle of the pack runner in terms of speed, these shoes were everything I needed and more. While I do all of my training in light stability shoes like Asics' DS Trainers, these shoes had enough inherent stability from their structure that my feet suffered zero ill effects in my race. (Disclaimer: I built up to the marathon distance by using these in a speedwork session, a 10K, a half, and a 16 mile training run. Plus required strength training.) For any fellow overpronators who are hesitating on buying a technically neutral shoe, let me be the first one to tell you that you can train your feet to adapt to lesser support then what's otherwise recommended to you. And given that carbon plated shoes help correct one's form, you can just go on race day.Perfectly lightweight, breathable, and secure around the upper and heel cup. If you've worn Asics for your entire running career as I have, your foot will feel right at home since the general shape has similarities to their other models. Release some new colors. My only constructive criticism? I'll be buying new pairs for years to come. Maybe black, red and gold?... Show more

Feels like you're flying
Whether ASICS did it on purpose or not, I feel like there's a reason these shoes are called Sky+ for a reason because they make you feel like you're flying. The first time I wore them, I broke the cardinal rule of "nothing new on race day" but I figured you could make an exception for a 5 mile race. The result? I was floored. Not only did I run a new PR for the distance, I wanted to keep going. I could have kept going. These shoes propelled me forward and allowed me to run in a more efficient way to the point where fast paces felt almost effortless. The energy return on these are insane and I couldn't believe the difference they made compared to my normal trainers.I've run in other brands' carbon fiber racers, and these are my favorites. I've run two marathons and multiple other races and these are my go-to's for all of them. And despite all of the miles I've put on them, which is probably approaching 250 or so, they're holding up incredibly well and still have that snappy return with each stride. I'll still use my usual rotation of shoes of various other brands for training, but I'll always grab these first on race day.... Show more

I returned this product
I bought this shoe two weeks ago but didn’t have time to open it till 2 days ago. I had been using meta speed sky for couple months. So I am very excited to try this one. First, the arch support filling is missing from package. It doesn’t looks like brand new. Then I noticed wrinkles all over the midsole. I mistaken it as a sign of being worn and used. So I returned immediately. Later I went to ASICS direct store and examined few pair and found out each one has many small wrinkles all over the shoe. So this is a manufacturing issue. I never find any official review talks about this. Thus I am pointing out here. I am afraid it will affect product lifespan and balancing. I do not want to take any risk so I bought the original sky instead. With the limited time I have ... MoreI bought this shoe two weeks ago but didn’t have time to open it till 2 days ago. Maybe more cushioning but not as soft and bouncy.... Show more

Lightweight and Super Comfy
After a long wait, I finally got a pair because it was out of stock on the ASICS website. Before purchasing, I watched some videos on Youtube to get to know METASPEED EDGE+ better. I purchased a pair of Kayano 24 years ago and loved the pair a lot. It's just about time to replace the Kayano 24.I don't go for a run often, but running is part of my job description, and I wouldn't say I like running with heavy running shoes. I tried it out earlier this afternoon when I went to do the beep test. When I got this pair, it surprised me how light they weighed. The support and stability were good during the warm-ups when I just ran slowly, and it got better when I got into the beep test. I ran on a concrete surface and felt better about my knees and feet, as it caused less pain and fatigue after running. I also felt like it helped me conserve more energy and could go further (a few more laps) with my training, which was excellent, and I absolutely loved that. I cannot wait to wear the pair for my weekly 5K run, and I believe the experience will be as great as, if not better, than the beep test experience.Regarding sizing and fit, I got US Men's size 9/42.5 for Kayano 24 and based on the True Fit recommendation. I went with US Men's size 9.5/43.5. I'm glad I followed the recommendation as the pair fitted me brilliantly.I only regret that I didn't buy one more pair while it was in stock.... Show more

Love Asics but toe curve too much
I received my Metaspeed with great excitement. I am not a great runner averaging about 9 min/miling, and I do have an issue which is Hallux Rigidus (stiffening of the big toe), which means I run in Carbon plated shoes for medical reasons not to be an elite. So finding comfy shoes is an absolute nightmare.I have loved Asics since I don't know when, so when the Metaspeed came out I was super excited, however, I owned a pair of Nike VaporFlies, and New Balance FuelCell. So I didnt really need the first model of Metaspeed. Now both my shoes are old, I was able to get a pair of Metaspeed, only to find out there was a + version.I put them on, and within minutes my big toes were being forced up causing pain and discomfort. Sadly there was no way I could run in these. However, I so wish I could. The upper felt amazing, the bounce amazing, no high arches, stable, and I imagine great for triathlon transition. It just felt a great shoe.So my advice if you are keen to run in the metaspeed and you have HR like me, then go for the original Metaspeed. Which I did, and I absolutely love them. To me they have all the same as the new shoe, but just not the extreme curve at the end forcing your big toe up.... Show more

My favorite shoe of all time, just be aware of the low heel drop
This is my favorite running shoes I have ever owned over 15 plus years of running. It has a lower heel drop at 5 mm than a majority of running shoes out there. I could feel that as soon as I put them on and was not convinced I would like them. However, after a couple of runs I completely changed my mind. I am a mid foot striker, tend to get some mid foot pain and I found these both very well cushioned AND extremely responsive. They definitely gives some energy back with every stride. They are a bit wider in the toe box as well if you have a wider mid foot. I run on country roads and the material of the upper keeps my feet cool and dust free which is a nice change. If you are looking for a very well cushioned, responsive and light longer distance shoe, this one is ... Not true to size
I bought these shoes as I wanted a premium carbon plated race shoe. I have owned dozens of Asics and a size 10 has always fit me perfectly with zero issues. The Meta Speed Sky Plus felt great for shorter distances but over 6 miles I found them extremely narrow and slightly short. I could not have known about this issue until running longer distances making the shoes unfit to return so, given the cost of the shoe, I persevered up to marathon distance. I completed a marathon in the Meta Speed Sky Plus and my feet hurt severely for most of the run, it ruined my experience and cost me at least 10-15 minutes over the 26.2 miles. On a positive note, if I got the fit right, these shoes could have been a joy. The Best Running Shoes I Have Ever Bought
I started running again just over 8 months ago, I was running on another brands shoes, I was happy enough with them, however I kept hitting a speed wall. So like anyone who wants to know answers, Idid some research into why I was not getting faster, I soon realised that my running mechanics & body structure where a limiting factor. Being under 6ft and not having a long stride length meant I reached my limit & the only thing I could do is turn over faster. When I turned up to 184 SPM I soon realised that my speed increased a lot, that I needed to look into shoes that catered for this. I saw a Asics Youtube video about series Meta Speed Edge (v1). Then earlier this year Asics had their Time Trial event where the Metaspeed Sky+ where the show. I studied everything ... I tried to purchase these before launch to no avail, on the day the launched I bought & I have not looked back since. I have PB'd my 5k, 10k & improved my average pace by around 1-1.30 miles / Per Min, which is crazy. I have done 3 runs so far, First was a 9 Miler Threshold, that I simply could not get to, it was too easy, hence 1.30 miles / per min faster, 2nd was meant to be easy that ended up being a random fartlek & my 3rd run was my first race with my Athletics Club & I ran faster and easier than I have ever run before. I cannot recommend these enough to someone who is a runner that simply cannot stride out & is looking for a long distance or fast shoe.... Show more

Tip top so far!!
These may well be the best shoes Ive ever had. Still getting used to them if Im honest as coming from Altra so having to change my form slightly, although very much appreciate the lower toe drop of these compared to a lot of shoes.I cant say anything about the durability at the moment. My initial concern was the lack of more substantial, durable, rubber towards the back of the shoe. But this seem a liitle unfounded as the shoe feels like it encourages mid to forefoot striking. In terms of comfort, i've had recent issues with achiles and forefoot soreness and its just not a problem with these shoes, so great in that respect. Suspect its down to the carbon plate and forefoot cushioning. They do feel a bit wierd to walk in though. But all things considered, they are ... MoreThese may well be the best shoes Ive ever had. But all things considered, they are alas a racing shoe.In terms of Fit, some shoes I'm an 8, some an 8.5. An 8 would have felt too small I suspect. My only dissapointment is not with this shoe specifically, but the Asics product range. The toe drop, the cushioning, the ride, the fit... all perfect. But Asics dont appear to have a non carbon shoe of a similar geometry that is designed to be more durable (if very slightly heavier). For that I may have to look elsewhere. There is a competitor that appears to have taken this insight on board so hoping Asics will follow suit.... Show more

Very good shoe, 8/10.
I have 43 miles in 3 runs on these so far (a track session, a tempo run, and a 22 mile with 9 miles at marathon pace). They seem to take a little to break in but I am very happy with how they felt during the 22 miler.Pros: Once up to speed, they help reduce your RPE at pace and almost feels like they are taking care of the pacing for you. I was even able to land very heavily at times without any negatives effects on my legs or feeling. After the run might actually be the best aspect of them, minimal to no soreness or fatigues in my legs. They also feel very fast at 5k-10k pace and when you need to get up on your forefoot for some added speed. Grip in wet surfaces was wonderful. Upper is very nice, light, airy.Cons: They are horrible in tight turns. They feel a ...
