A perfect race shoe for both short & long distance

I just set a personal best using these shoes at the Philadelphia Marathon last Sunday. As a middle of the pack runner in terms of speed, these shoes were everything I needed
and more. While I do all of my training in light stability shoes like Asics' DS Trainers, these shoes had enough inherent stability from their structure that my feet suffered zero
ill effects in my race. (Disclaimer: I built up to the marathon distance by using these in a speedwork session, a 10K, a half, and a 16 mile training run. Plus required strength
training.) For any fellow overpronators who are hesitating on buying a technically neutral shoe, let me be the first one to tell you that you can train your feet to a... Show more

My favourite race shoe! and speed sessions ofourse. great for time trials too.Ive had 3 pairs already which should tell you that the speed is definatly there. This is my go to
shoe when i feel really good and gunning for a PB. Very addictive if youre not careful, my first pair had to retire well before time because i just couldnt let go of the feeling it
gave me. Confidence booster is what i call it.Carbona plated shoes are amongst other great things energy savers, that extra cherry on top when you've trained, fir and
confident. They just allow you to enjoy the race.VERY lightweight and breathable upper material. The fit really makes the foot comfortable and secured.

I purchased these after extensive research when looking for a new Marathon shoe. I have been a big Asics fan for a long time and most of my research told me how great the
Metaspeed Sky+ is regardless of running style. Even cadence runners said that over a marathon distance, they would take the Sky+ over the Edge+. Well this shoe simple
DOES NOT work for me. I find it stiff without being responsive and no pop at all even when I get completely on my toes. They feel like I'm wearing bricks and not high end
racing shoes. My cumulus 24s with 500+ miles are more responsive than these. What makes it worse is that Asics doesn't allow exchanges, so I'm stuck with the... Show more

And given that carbon plated shoes help correct one's form, you can just go on race day.Perfectly lightweight, breathable, and secure around the upper and heel cup. If you've worn Asics for your entire running career as I have, your foot will feel right at home since the general shape has similarities to their other models. Release some new colors. My only constructive criticism? I'll be buying new pairs for years to come. Maybe black, red and gold?... Show more

Feels like you're flying
25 April 2023
Whether ASICS did it on purpose or not, I feel like there's a reason these shoes are called Sky+ for a reason because they make you feel like you're flying. The first time I wore them, I broke the cardinal rule of "nothing new on race day" but I figured you could make an exception for a 5 mile race. The result? I was floored. Not only did I run a new PR for the distance, I wanted to keep going. I could have kept going. These shoes propelled me forward and allowed me to run in a more efficient way to the point where fast paces felt almost effortless. The energy return on these are insane and I couldn't believe the difference they made compared to my normal trainers.I've run in other brands' carbon fiber racers, and these are my favorites. I've run two marathons and multiple other races and these are my go-to's for all of them. And despite all of the miles I've put on them, which is probably approaching 250 or so, they're holding up incredibly well and still have that snappy return with each stride. I'll still use my usual rotation of shoes of various other brands for training, but I'll always grab these first on race day.... Show more

Initial fit doesn’t give final impression
9 January 2024
My initial fit in these shoes was uncomfortable. I tried multiple different socks and lacing patterns, but walking around to feel for a comfort I had multiple rub points. I almost gave up on the shoes and return them. However, I gave them a try on a treadmill for a speed run. Within a few minutes, I noticed a tremendous difference and the way the shoe fit in the comfort level. There is a dramatic improvement in my stride, as well as my pace, and I felt very comfortable. I was shocked The dramatic difference between my initial impression to after my run. I will keep training any issues to determine if they will be my actual race shoe. But as for now, I’m pretty impressed and will continue to use them for my speed runs.... Show more

Metaspeed SKY+
27 November 2023
40 year old male here. Overall I'm very happy with the shoe. I just ran my fastest half marathon every on 11/25/23 in them. They feel very lightweight and the upper fits beautifully. The heal feels a little more unstable at slower speeds (7:30/mi and above), but when at race pace it's you can hardly feel the shoe at all. The unprotected foam around the heal has some wear and tear (from my particular stride landing at least) after only 30 miles and doubt they will make it beyond 75-100 miles without it becoming noticeable. Overall, I am very pleased with the shoe and it's performance and would definitely purchase again!... Show more

Metaspeed Sky vs Metaspeed Edge+ vs Vapor Fly 3
27 January 2024
I bought the Metaspeed Sky, Edge+ and Vapor Fly 3. I train and race sprint and Olympic distance triathlons with 5K and 10K runs. The Sky was a very good shoe, similar to the Vapor Fly but not quite as soft and it did not seem to offer as much energy return. The VP 3 also fit me a little better. The Edge with its turned up toe seemed to enable a a faster turnover and the best target for my forefoot landing. I kept the VP3 and Edge and returned the Sky. I used the Edge last weekend in an indoor triathlon and equaled the 6:49 pace that I ran in that race last season with Vapor Flys. That is not any difference but at age 69 to not lose any speed over a good result the year before is a positive result.... Show more

Tip top so far!!

These may well be the best shoes Ive ever had. Still getting used to them if Im honest as coming from Altra so having to change my form slightly, although very much appreciate the lower toe drop of these compared to a lot of shoes.I cant say anything about the durability at the moment. My initial concern was the lack of more substantial, durable, rubber towards the back of the shoe. But this seem a liitle unfounded as the shoe feels like it encourages mid to forefoot striking. In terms of comfort, i've had recent issues with achiles and forefoot soreness and its just not a problem with these shoes, so great in that respect. Suspect its down to the carbon plate and forefoot cushioning. They do feel a bit wierd to walk in though. But all things considered, they are ... MoreThese may well be the best shoes Ive ever had. But all things considered, they are alas a racing shoe.In terms of Fit, some shoes I'm an 8, some an 8.5. An 8 would have felt too small I suspect. My only dissapointment is not with this shoe specifically, but the Asics product range. The toe drop, the cushioning, the ride, the fit... all perfect. But Asics dont appear to have a non carbon shoe of a similar geometry that is designed to be more durable (if very slightly heavier). For that I may have to look elsewhere. There is a competitor that appears to have taken this insight on board so hoping Asics will follow suit.... Show more

Uncomfortable and awkward. Not for me.
24 May 2024
Bought in March 2024. Very disappointing shoe! Uncomfortable and awkward. I'm now (in May) dealing with tendonitis in one foot. When I finally quit wearing this shoe, the tendonitis went away. Bought many other pairs of shoes from ASICS throughout the years and always been thrilled. Imagine my disappointment compounding when I shared my experience with customer service. Hey, they did apologize. I should've read these reviews before I paid top dollar for these Metaspeed sky +... Show more

Very fast but soles also wear through very fast!
11 September 2024
Firstly, as others have commented, these are very fast. Without any real preparation or effort, I managed to knock over 2% off my 5k,10k and 10 mile personal bests. Unfortunately, the soles are now so worn through that I am hoping they have enough magic left in them for a half marathon next month - my main reason for buying them. I would have loved to run that in less run down shoes.I understand that these are not everyday shoes but I really hoped I might be able to use them for my speedier runs and get a couple of hundred miles out of them. I think I'll be lucky to get half of that. They are definitely race day shoes, but very fast ones at that.... Show more
