Best shoe just got better. Adding the thicker-grippier outsole makes the shoe even more stable without negatively affecting the superior ride/run quality. The "pop" is back. It bites into the soil, sand and snow quite well. The thicker outsole should wear well and give me more total miles of use than the regular 3's outsole. I run moderate difficulty trails Fire roads and dirt trails in these with no stone bruises even though it does not have a bruise plate. Probably due to the thick mid-sole similar to the trabuco max. I really like these shoes. They are my current standard choice for asphalt/concrete running training. They are cushy and bouncy, while also allowing me to run faster if I choose to. I recently did my 5K PB in them. I believe that thanks to these shoes I improved my running form. These are neutral shoes, and thanks to the softness of the sole foam I discovered that I'm slightly pronating, which even computer imaging of my feet did not pick up. Knowing this helped me a lot to adjust how I run as well. I also have a bone deformity where my Achilles tendon attaches to the bone and these NovaBlast 3 shoes do not irritate it which is really great! If you are a neutral runner, and want an upgrade over your typical beginner running trainers, these shoes should be on the top ... MoreI really like these shoes. I recently acquired a pair of ASICS Novablast 3 running shoes, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. These shoes have completely transformed my running experience, and I'm eager to share my thoughts in this review.Comfort and Cushioning (5/5): The Novablast 3 is, without a doubt, one of the most comfortable running shoes I've ever worn. The midsole provides a springy, energetic feel, and the shoe's wide base ensures stability. However, I would have appreciated a bit more arch support, especially for those with higher arches. Nonetheless, it still offers a secure and comfortable ride.Durability (4/5): After several weeks of regular use, the Novablast 3 shoes have held up well. The outsole seems durable, but I've noticed some wear on the exposed midsole foam. This might affect the shoes' longevity, but it's not a major issue, considering the incredible comfort they provide.Fit and Sizing (5/5): ASICS sizing seems to be consistent, and the Novablast 3 fit me perfectly. The shoe has a roomy toe box, which is great for preventing blisters and discomfort during long runs. I also appreciate the padded collar and tongue, which enhance the overall fit and comfort.Style (5/5): These shoes not only perform exceptionally well but also look great. The combination of various color options and the sleek design makes them a versatile choice for both running and casual wear.

I was looking for a different model since I've been a GT 2000 and Kayano user for ages but haven't loved the new models the past few years. After reading several reviews, decided to go for the new Novablast. They're everything the reviews and descriptions say. Cool sustainable design, incredibly light and bouncy, great for long, run, tempo, interval, speed runs. Versatile all in all. HOWEVER, I was surprised that all I read about the tongue were good things. The reality is that it is way longer than the average Asics (Kayano, GT 2000). Noticed before using them for the first time and not even the anti-chaffing lotion prevented some painful chaffing (see photo). Since unfortunately I can't return them, I guess I'll have to get creative to find a way to make the ... MoreI was looking for a different model since I've been a GT 2000 and Kayano user for ages but haven't loved the new models the past few years. Found it a little hard to find info on what was different with the "LE" version and why they made these changes. One is the "elvin flick" heel and the upper is a different material (seems bit stiffer). The Novablast is my go to daily trainer for a few years now, so I was a little hesitant but it was the only version I could find in my size in stock (dam my big feet). I hate both of the changes to the LE. The heel means the lock down is not as good. There is no dramatic slippage, but my rear foot never feels secure, and when I get up on my toes going up hill my heel does slip. The upper also feels less breathable. Its the middle of winter where I am and my foot gets pretty warm. So if you love everything about the Novablast, my advice is to stick to the standard ... MoreFound it a little hard to find info on what was different with the "LE" version and why they made these changes. Unfortunately got these from Running Warehouse and cannot return now that I have run in them. I blame myself for assuming I would be ok with this shoe.
Amazing shoes really. The level of bounce you get in these without compromising stability is great, even more when you think it isn't a stability shoe! Also, they are crazy lightweight.Had had the chance to run with the standard version of NB3 and it was good, however in rainy days the grip wasn't the best; the NB3 TR provides that extra grip so much needed in the Irish weather.Have yet to go into proper trails, but two runs through gravel, some mud and grass at the park, gets these to pass the test with flying colours. They feel a bit tighter at the toe-box, than my Kayanos28 and my Trabucos10 on same size; however, not to an uncomfortable level.I am curious to see how will they fare for anything beyond 13miles, but so far they are very promising.
Posting this longer review because I know I always look for them when I’m shopping for a shoe, I hope it is helpful.I switched to these after running in the Kayanos for a few years. I liked the Kayano for the cushioning but didn’t need the stability. I also felt like I was wearing through them after only about 150/200 miles (I am tall and muscular, so the weight I put on shoes is a little more than the average runner) and wanted to try something with a different type of cushion that might last longer. The cushion on the Novablast is fantastic, so comfortable, and when I’m trying to push the speed a bit I can really feel it propelling me forward. They are so bouncy and make my legs last longer, I think.I’ve put about 250 miles on them so far and they are barely starting to show signs of wearing out. I would expect to get another 200 out of them at this rate. I am really pleased with them and definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an everyday shoe that’s great for both speed work and long runs. There are two things I’d love to see improved in the next version:1. My feet don’t always sit correctly in the shoe and I have to take a step funny to kick them back into position every once in a while, I feel like the upper could do a better job of this.2. I love the way the response feels when I’m running faster, I can really feel it propelling me forward. It would be great to feel something like that at a slower pace.I run about 30 miles a week, mostly 3-5 miles at a time with a longer (8-13 miles) run on the weekend.
I wrote a long review about the Novablast 3 and I absolutely love it. In fact, I now have 3 pairs of it in different colorways that I rotate along with a bunch of other shoes from other brands. Being that I average 70~80 miles per week, I can justify having many shoes for both the road and trail. Enamored with the regular road version, I was very intrigued by the TR trail version although I knew that it wasn't meant for technical trails that I also run on a regular basis.Although I love road running and it accounts for two-thirds of my miles, my real passion is in running the trails. Enamored with the regular road version, I was very intrigued by the TR trail version although I knew that it wasn't meant for technical trails that I also run on a regular basis.Although I love road running and it accounts for two-thirds of my miles, my real passion is in running the trails. Instead of pavement, tarmac, and asphalt, I prefer dirt, gravel, rocks, and tree roots to run over or jump over. I have nearly a dozen trail running shoes but couldn't resist the Novablast 3 TR based on my experience with the regular version for road running.Overall, the TR version provides pretty much everything that the road version does with the addition of higher rubber lugs. There's a lot of talk about the regular version not providing good traction in wet conditions but that isn't an issue for me since I live in very dry drought-stricken Southern California. Still, I wanted to get the TR version and see how it'd handle the trails that I run. I knew even before I ordered the TR version that it wasn't the right one for my runs on technical trails that I run once or twice per week. These trails have very steep hills, lots of rocks and roots, and plenty of abrupt twists and turns. I have other shoes that are better suited for running on such terrains.Soft-cushioned high-stack midsole isn't really what you want for running on challenging terrains at high speeds. You want ground feel and the nimbleness to shift on a dime. Is the Novablast 3 TR the proper shoes for such endeavors? No, it isn't? I believe ASICS and many other brands have better shoes for such endeavors. This being said, the Novablast 3 TR is great for hard-packed smoothened dirt and gravel trails that are, overall, fairly straight with mild hill inclines and declines. Also, for those who are concerned about running in wet road conditions, the TR version is great for better traction but you do need to take into account that it adds about an ounce over the regular road version. As I see it, TR should stand more for 'Traction' than 'Trail'. I will certainly run in the TR on the road when it does eventually rain and get wet in SoCal during the winter months (December through March). I will run in the TR over smoothened dirt trails over long distances but I won't wear it for running on 'technical' trails.I like colorway of the TR. I normally wear white for the road and anything black and very dark for the trail, so the TR fits in fine. I'll happily use the TR for the road when it gets rainy and wet on the road as well as smoothened dirt and gravel trails as I mentioned earlier. For me, the Novablast 3 TR is more about traction than trail and is also great for the occasional road-to-trail situations. The midsole stack is too high for "real" trail running, IMHO. But, if you seek traction and wearing it for "easy" trail running, the NB3 TR is great.Considering how much I love the regular NB3 for the road, the TR version was a no-brainer for wet conditions and running on smoothened straight-ahead trails. For me, it's more about TRaction than TRails and that's how I'd recommend it. The Novablast 3 is an amazing running shoe. I currently have over two dozen shoes I rotate for various running situations, racing and training purposes, and terrains and the NB3 is my favorite overall shoes and gets most of my miles. The TR version is great but comes with a caveat: it's more about traction and for running on limited range of trails. Works great for me but I recommend that you consider your usage case and the particular environments and situations you run in before purchasing the TR version.
I'm an amateur running and have really only been seriously running for a year and a half, having graduated from a coach to 5k programme. I'm now running 10ks regularly and am about to enter my first half marathon.I realised, after a bit of trial and error, that not all running shoes are created equal. In my naivety, I assumed most could handle short and long distances, slow as well as fast paced runs. This is demonstrably not true. Some are intended for sprinting, some will get you just over 10k, but if you want something that does both, that feels lightweight and comfortable, particularly in the midsole - which is vital for longer distances - then you can't possibly beat the Novablast 3.Since purchasing a pair, my half marathon training has been going a lot ... MoreI'm an amateur running and have really only been seriously running for a year and a half, having graduated from a coach to 5k programme. The midsole pain I was experiencing after 10k in my old running shoes has disappeared, and the kms are ticking by with much possibility of injury. If you want a pair of shoes that will do it all, I cannot recommend the Novablast 3s enough.
Hi,Following much analysis it was time to look beyond my much trusted Asics Cumulus. I have progressed through the Cumulus model for 15 Years but technology has moved on so should I.I have used the Novablast 3 TR shoe for an 18 miler and rep sessions and it does not fail to impress. The comfort is performance has left me amazed my times are improving. You can push a long run and legs are fresh the next day. It transitions between different surfaces without noticing. This is good as the terrain I run varies. The TR version for me is the perfect autumn/winter Trainer when things might get a little slippery on light trails and roads. Do not expect to go fell running in this shoe. It is not designed for the medium to Heavy duty stuff. Do not expect to go fell running in this shoe. It is not designed for the medium to Heavy duty stuff. I have now bought the Road version of the shoe for road only sessions and race day. I am sure the TR version would be fine as the extra grip is not aggressive, but the standard Novablast 3 are even lighter but are still robust.Size wise I have always worn a UK9 in the Cumulus which were perfect. The Novablast 3 are longer so after reading other reviews I dropped half size to an UK8.5 which are perfect fit.In summary where have these been all my life a great buy. A plush trainer with performance!! A shoe where one size really does fit all.
