I bought these shoes recently because they were very highly rated on three different websites as the overall best women's shoe for tennis for 2022. They are the most uncomfortable tennis shoe ever! I consistently wear a size 10 medium in athletic shoes and I already have a pair of Asics for tennis that I was trying to replace/upgrade because they're worn out. These are very tight in the toe box and tight on the upper heel - really just tight everywhere, but those two areas are the most noticeable. The toe turns up in a way that looked a bit funny when I put them on. But after reading the reviews, I ignored it. Bad mistake. My feet ached all evening after wearing them to play tennis for a couple of hours. It is not a matter of breaking them in. I will never wear them ... I’ve been using Resolution tennis shoes since version 5 and they mostly improved from 5 to 6 to 7. This latest revision is a big step back to my opinion. They are heavier and top material is stiffer. I hoped they would become better after a break in but this did not happen. After several months of wearing I still get toe blisters especially when playing in hot conditions where feet get wet sooner. The toe box has become wider and while some may find it more comfortable, I don’t get the like-a-glove fit I had with earlier versions of the shoe. They also lost the low-to-the-ground feel that made court movement so confident with the earlier versions. To make things worse, shoe laces are weirdly very thin now and keep untieing. The 7 was too narrow. The 8 is so wide it is meant to fit wider feet than mine, relying upon the Dynalast to secure the foot in front. An athletic shoe has never quite swamped my foot so much in the width. I appreciate the support of the shoe, but quickness suffers relative to the rest of the lineup. I feel like the maneuverable 6 became the COURT FF, but the SPEED FF shoes have been representing the best value for me, only for them to receive whopping improvements! It definitely is most upgraded line and shoe. The value in this current Resolution is good, but the durability of the outsole is showing lots of wear as well. I also find that, even though my foot requires plentiful support, the SPEED FF is not only supportive, it’s fast. But it’s a roughly 3 month shoe ... MoreThe 7 was too narrow. I paid top dollar for the original COURT FF and was disappointed that the bootie fit me so tightly over the top and there was nothing I could do. So I’ll be moving quickly back to the SPEED shoe. I’m not a player that generally would wear a “speed” shoe but this shoe has the support and fit I need. Writing this review has reminded me of this. I consider the SPEED line to be the new benchmark for a performance tennis shoe. The RES used to hold this title, but SPEED has taken over as the minimal-maximalist - since both shoes have more support.

The customer service and shipping was great. I wouldn’t consider myself to have wide feet but my right shoe is extremely tight. Obviously I’m buying a woman’s size 12 so there is no the petite about my foot but I’ve never had this problem in an athletic shoe before. It’s very uncomfortable to play in. My left shoe fits normally. This is my second pair and this is my second time with the issue. After about 3 months of weekly wear the shoes break in and are tolerable if you can get through the numbing squeeze until that point. My first pair lasted about a year, no holes, but just lost the structure. I play 3/4x a week. I bought a different model of asic in a men’s shoe and they are bordering on too loose. I have to wear a thick sock to not slide around in them. Hope ... MoreThe customer service and shipping was great. I wouldn’t consider myself to have wide feet but my right shoe is extremely tight. I've waited 2 years to grab a pair of these Gel Resolution 8's & the juries still out. They are not broke in out of the box & were a bit uncomfortable for about the 1st 3 matches. I've worn them for 5 matches now & they are feeling better. I play 4 to 5 matches a week at 3.5 & 4.0 on hard courts. These shoes have had an annoying squeak, more so on the left foot, but the noise is starting to disappear. They also run a bit longer than all of my other 9½'s...& the factory insoles are useless. I'm concerned about the interior fabric breaking down as it seems to be quite delicate. I guess I've got to say I expected a little more out of these shoes...but I'll find out how they hold up as I'll be wearing them more & more. Fingers crossed !
Even though this is still my favorite tennis shoe, it has its flaws. First, the pros: The Resolution 8 has good cushioning and great stability; given how solid it is, it is fairly lightweight and great for an all-court player like me. Now the cons. The last couple models of the Resolution have been disappointing. The shoe used to be perfect for me, but then the 6 and 7 were too stiff. The Resolution 8 has a weird plastic-like upper which I thought would crack when I started wearing them. They haven't cracked, but they're too hot. And the new innovative lacing system came unstitched in mine and I had to replace them. Overall, I still can't find a better shoe in terms of the combination of stability, cushion, and weight, but I really hope the materials and workmanship ... Ever since my first pair of ASICS tennis shoes (Asics Gel, GT Intensity 2!), from way back in the early 90’s, to my most recent (Gel Resolution 8’s), I have never looked back or bought another pair of tennis shoes! This brand has fuelled my passion for tennis, the shoes they made, that I wore with pride, they made me feel like Andre Agassi on the courts! No, I wasn’t inspired by his well known brand sponsor!Simply because I know what works for me and I’ve had over 30 years experience of wearing the right shoes on court without being paid by the sponsor fairy to sell nonsensical gimmicks 🤩These shoes do the job they’re engineered to do!Are they gonna make you in to a tennis star? No.That’s down to you and the choices you make, not just on your feet, but ... These ASIC shoes are incredibly comfortable, probably the most comfortable tennis shoes I have worn. Quite often I get blisters when wearing new Tennis shoes but with these I didnt. I usually go for barricades which I find to be a good all round shoe, however the comfort, design and performance of the ASICS top it. I also found the sole very comfortable. I have worn shoes with a flat sole before which make my feet feel too close to the ground and have given me blisters on the soles of my feet but with this sole I was pain free. The design of the ASICS is slick and nothing to 'lary' which is what I like. The darker colours are favourable as they also don't show any dirt which is good for a shoe that you want to look fresher for longer. In terms of their ... Slipping is usually a problem for me as I am a fast mover around the court... but with the ASICS I had no problem. I was able to change direction quickly and didnt feel any rubbing on my feet like I often do with new shoes. One thing I did notice was a bit of wear and tear on the bottom of the shoe which I am aware of with ASICS shoes. They are not as durable as previous shoes I have worn and tend to need replacing quicker.Overall a very good Tennis shoe which is extremely comfortable to play in. I would highly recommend to others!!!
I've been retired from teaching Elementary PE for four years now. The Gel Resolution was my go-to shoe while teaching. The last year I taught I bought the Resolution 7 and still have that. Upon receiving this new Gel Resolution 8 I tried it on and despite the style changes over the years, the support of the Gel Resolution 8 still has the main-stay reliability of the Asics shoes. I'm going to order at least one more pair before they are gone!!
I got my pair in the mail today and I would say heed other reviews about sizing because these suckers run INCREDIBLY tight. I am typically a size 9 for sneakers/tennis shoes and never have really needed to adjust my size even when I see people review about adjusting a half-size or so. I was previously wearing the Gel Resolution 6s as they have lasted me a good 3+ years from my college tennis days (the durability of Asics are top of the market), but I am in the market for a new pair of shoes. Upon arrival, I could barely get my foot into the shoe! The fit is uncomfortably tight in the toe box area including the sides and the top of the foot. My rear foot even feels a bit constricted, but not as much as the toebox. To note, I do have bunions as well, but my feet fit ... My rear foot even feels a bit constricted, but not as much as the toebox. To note, I do have bunions as well, but my feet fit comfortably in my size 9 GR 6s. There's no way I could wear the pair I received on the court without pain or losing some amount of circulation as there was barely any space to give. I returned my pair the same day to exchange and try sizing up to a 9.5 and see if that fit is any better. I'm a big fan of the Gel Resolution line from my past experiences and want to give it a good review, but it does seem like the construction has been going backwards based on people's reviews (which made me hesitant to buy the GR 7s). If you need confirmation that these are not true-to-size, this is the review to heed. And for the love of everything Asics, please stop cinching your customers' feet! Seems like with each new version I see people complaining about the fit and the shoes getting tighter. Implement what people liked from your previous versions.
