I have never bought a pair of shoes dedicated to race day performance. I always thought it was a lot of money for something that may not help get a faster time if you did not put in the training miles and do weight management techniques. This pair of shoes put my doubts to rest. Super light, amazing energy bounce and propulsion. These shoes + my training = met race day goal time. Very happy with this investment. However, this is a race day shoe only - there is not enough sole for every day training. But that's okay. I don't mind training in heavier shoes to feel like I am flying through the air on race day!

These shoes seem absolutely incredible. My regular shoe size is 8M. I always purchase size 8 1/2M in running shoes, as I did with these. These shoes however, are too small in 8 1/2. But, they are so comfortable and feel like they would be awesome to run in. I just haven't had the chance to road test them yet. So I'm writing my review just based on size (run way small) and the comfort I felt even though they were too small. Looking forward to posting again after a test run.

I bought these shoes after reading the specs that stated they were meant for neutral runners. i took them for a single run and loved the way they propel me forward. i felt amazing. to my dismay upon returning home, i noted a tear on the heel of both shoes. i contacted customer support and they told me that these shoes were not meant for heel strikers and that they had no support in that area of the sole and would fall apart as mine have done after 8 miles (on a track). Despite several back and forth emails about the misleading specs on the website and the poor build of the heel of the shoe, i have been told that i will not be able to return or exchange these very expensive shoes. super disappointing as i have been an asics runner for years and i was hoping to take ... MoreI bought these shoes after reading the specs that stated they were meant for neutral runners. i took them for a single run and loved the way they propel me forward. i felt amazing. to my dismay upon returning home, i noted a tear on the heel of both shoes. i contacted customer support and they told me that these shoes were not meant for heel strikers and that they had no support in that area of the sole and would fall apart as mine have done after 8 miles (on a track). I guess spending more actually gets you less when you are a normal every day runner. Just super disappointed in the brand and the customer service. so every day runner beware! if you intend for your heel to hit the ground, do not buy these shoes. they are not meant for you.

I wanted to get a pair after my husband got those and I noted drastic improvement in his running performance. I couldn't wait to get them for myself and I wasn't disappointed. Even though I run at maximum effort ( I only use them for speedwork or races), my heart rate remains significantly lower than my usual for the repsective pace. I have already run a half marathon and shaved off 2 mins from my previous PB. I usually have hard time on the 18th km and this time I felt stronger than ever and I had energy to push through to the final with an excellent pace. This weekend I will try to smash my 5K PB with these babies. Word of caution though. I had to get two sizes larger than my usual size. Probably due to the curved sole.
Amazing shoe, ran the San Diego Marathon after only wearing them for a week prior to that and had no issues during the race. After that it has taken me a little while to adjust to the extra cushioning as I have ran in Nike Pegasus for years and those have very little foam. The shoes are very light, the material mesh airs out and you feel the air come through your feet when running, I love that! The laces are made of a cotton material instead of the high polyester material for most shoe laces are made of and that helps the knots stay in place, they don’t come unloose. I’m a 8.5 in regular shoes and ordered a 9 to have that extra space in the front for downhill running, originally wished I had ordered a 9.5 as they felt a bit tight for my personal preference, however ... MoreAmazing shoe, ran the San Diego Marathon after only wearing them for a week prior to that and had no issues during the race. I’m a 8.5 in regular shoes and ordered a 9 to have that extra space in the front for downhill running, originally wished I had ordered a 9.5 as they felt a bit tight for my personal preference, however after a few weeks they loosen up a bit. They still fit a little snuggle if I wear thicker running socks so will order a 9.5 when I get the new Metaspeed Sky+ (lime green/dark blue). As far as performance, I feel a difference when running fast (6-7 minute miles). I feel the shoes make me lean forward slightly making me use gravity to propel me forward and run on my toes naturally. In short, I do feel faster but that may be due to them being so light. Overall very satisfied, Nike has lost an all time customer and 10+ year runner. This shoe won me over for ASICS. <3
Just had to get these when Asics launched their first full carbon plate shoes. Compared to their well known competitor these shoes are more stable. I also like the old school race shoe look. I also bought Metaracer not long before I got these. The overall design is quite similar and feel as well for some degree. These are much bouncier than Metaracer's and overall legs feel fresher after a run while being a bit faster as well. I was surprised how comfortable these are - comfortable while having a snug fit keeping heel in place. True to size for me.
I won a pair in a competition and was so looking forward to them, however they are way too narrow. Every podiatrist I have ever seen has confirmed that more foot problems come from shoes that are too narrow than shoes that are too wide, so it was a strange decision of ASICS to make them such a narrow tight fit. The laces were well over engineered and unnecessary given the very right fit. I would have preferred a plimsole and have removed the laces (the shoes are that tight) and can just about jog with them minus any lacing. Am currently trying to stretch the fabric to make these usable but it is rather unresponsive so far because the shoe mesh is so 'lightweight'. Am also considering cutting the fabric since big toe just doesn't fit on the side. Am currently trying to stretch the fabric to make these usable but it is rather unresponsive so far because the shoe mesh is so 'lightweight'. Am also considering cutting the fabric since big toe just doesn't fit on the side. Also the soles had no grip/tred. Just designed for track or maybe well kept grass. Certainly not a general purpose shoe that you could hit the roads / dirt paths with. Oh well ASICS you tried. I would recommend it you are able to try the size and be prepared to throw all previous sizing advice out the window and just start again with this shoe. It feels fast (just standing and jumping on spot) but until I've sorted out the fabric/tight fit I'm afraid I can't use these.
Exceptionally light and speed-boosting trainers. Thanks to their carbon plating and slightly curved sole, you are able to hold a faster pace for a longer duration. You are able to move more efficiently, thus conserving energy and maintain good technique.I recommend Metaspeed SKY to anyone who wants to improve their PRs, perform better at competition, and, just feel maximum satisfaction when running.
I have tried running in the Metaspeed Sky. The shoe is too small. I usually wear a 7 in the Kayanos and that has been consistent over the years. So, I assumed this was my size for this shoe also. I was wrong. The fit is too tight especially with a pair of running socks. I have not worn it since my first few trials. It is not comfortable. Is there any chance I can exchange this pair for a larger pair?
Fit - At first I was worried about the fit. Online there were many mixed reviews either saying that it is true to size or runs small. After receiving my shoes (which I got true to size) it fit like a glove. In other words it fit true to size in racing standards. Big toe may rub a little, but hardly noticeable.Feel - Despite this shoes maybe being the stiffest carbon fiber shoes that I have, the ground contact was an enjoyable soft landing with a consistent toe off. The heal cup was nice and locked and there were not hot spots. Results - Did a test run that consisted of easy, tempo and sprint (which I do to all my shoes). The results ended up showing a lower than normal heart rate, faster time and longer and more efficient stride.Post run - After only one run I ... MoreFit - At first I was worried about the fit. I would have given these shoes a perfect score if the rubber either protected a little bit more of that area, or if the rubber didn't sit flush with the PEBA resulting in quicker wear of the shoe.Overall - This shoe takes the top spot as my 5k, 10k racing shoe. As someone who has shorter quicker steps, I wanted a shoe that could open up my stride and they certainly more than delivered! Great job Ascis I now have a new favorite pair of running shoes!
