The solution was to just not go too fast and the shoe was a joy to run in.Since this first awkward experience on the treadmill, I've run about a hundred miles in them (mostly outdoors) and this is definitely my go-to shoe for long easy or recovery runs. It's a shoe that after an hour and a half, still feels completely weightless and doesn't bother me in any way shape or form -- absolute miracle! Besides being soft and light, it's quite responsive... so a good all-purpose shoe.I don't know whether the weirdness I experienced running at higher speeds initially was a feature of the shoe or was because there's a learning curve to get used to the bigger heel. I have not tried to run much faster in them, as I prefer a somewhat firmer shoe for faster runs.

I have struggled since my teenage years when I first started running 25 years ago to find a shoe that didn't cause ankle pain during or after my runs. I've found very few pairs (only about 5) over the years that actually worked for me and I ran those into the ground literally. But companies eventually change the model of the shoe and I end up no longer being able to use them. It's been about 6 years since I last had a pair that didn't cause me pain either during or after my runs, until this pair! And believe me, I've tried dozens of shoes over those years. I am in disbelief over how well this shoe works for me. They absorb so much shock and apparently accommodate my (apparently) mechanically inept natural gate with super high arches really well. I've already bought 2 pairs and am contemplating buying 2 more. At first I was hesitant to try them because of the really tall foam rubber sole, but I fell in love with them during my first run. My husband who knows my struggle with finding running shoes is actually encouraging me to stock up on this shoe. Thank you Novablast 2 for giving me running back!

I somehow managed to injure my left heel (Wearing poor shoes, I suspect), and it got so bad I hobbled into Academy looking for the shoes with the cushiest heel support. I've always been a heel-striker so I'm constantly on the lookout for comfy shoes with lots of shock-absorption. Brooks are usually my go-to. But I'd heard about these Asics and wanted to try them on in person. The Novaforms are like heaven. In the five days since I bought them, my heel pain has completely disappeared. I run a couple of miles per day, plus I work in a super fast-paced retail environment. I am on my feet all day and usually I'm sore by the time my shift is over. But after taking these off, my feet don't feel sore at all. Like, barely even tired. That's pretty miraculous. I really don't ... The Novablast 2 used to one of my preferred shoes for daily training. It had great cushioning and was quite comfortable. However, it was not verry durable. The upper tended to develop holes over my big toe within the first 100 miles. Although that did not prevent continued use of the shoes, it was unsightly. I also thought it could have used a bit more stability and traction. Fortunately, Asics addressed all of my issues in the Novablast 3 update. I am especially delighted that they changed the material of the upper and I have has zero issues with wear on the new uppers. Bottom line is I would clearly recommend going with the Novablast 3 over the Novablast 2.
I went through an entire marathon training cycle with my first pair of Novablast 2’s and there is still tread left to spare on them. They provide tons of support and cushion for every step; no issues with foot discomfort or fatigue. They aren’t heavy, but I wouldn’t say that they’re light either when compared against other shoes these days; I have a different shoe for races so that may be something to consider with these if you’re looking for an all-in-one solution. These are easily my favorite trainers for long distance running though; I bought this pair and a similar orange pair so I could stay stocked up for when my first pair finally does need replacing. And how can you turn down these fun colors?! Can’t recommend the Novablast 2 enough!
Absolutely my favorite shoes, EVER!! I saw a lady with them on while on vacation, and before we had walked 50 feet from her, I had them ordered for me :). I love bright colors and this is just that!!They are also super comfortable. I am a teacher and I have had several back surgeries so I need something that is comfortable. However, I couldn't give these shoes 5 stars. I am not a runner and only wear these casually, and for looks. So it was extremely disappointing when I looked down a few of months ago and saw a small hole forming on the side. But I figured as long as I wore white socks, it wasn't super obvious. HOWEVER, I looked down at them the other day and realized not only has that hole gotten a lot larger, but there was also another large hole and SEVERAL ... MoreAbsolutely my favorite shoes, EVER!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sad! But I did enjoy them while they lasted!
The 1st generation Novablast are my absolute favorite running sneakers so I had high hopes for the 2nd generation. Unfortunately, the 2nd generation was a major downgrade. The midsole cushion was drastically reduced in the 2nd generation to the point where my feet hurt running in these shoes after just a few blocks. For some reason this shoe also fits smaller than the 1st generation. While running, my feet seemed to slip towards the toe box and felt very uncomfortable. The quality of the sole of the 2nd generation is also inferior to the 1st generation. Not sure what Asics was thinking when they created the 2nd generation, but they destroyed a great shoe. Hopefully the next version will be more similar to the 1st generation.
Functionally an awesome show. Cushioned without being ridiculous or heavy and still responsive. Aesthetically a little lacking. I got the green and beige colorway which is a little meh. Not bright enough to be neon, beige is, well, beige (good for not showing dirt), and weird choice to match the magenta laces to the Asics stripes (why?!?). Love the almost faceted look to the midsole, though. Seems like the 3s stepped up the aesthetics.Solid choice – especially for dark morning runs.
If you dont care about durability, theyre a great running shoe... I ran in one pair of novablast 1s, and Ive just maxed out my first pair of novablast 2s. Each lasted almost exactly 285 miles before the cushioning had worn out and my legs were killing me. I am not a heel striker though, and these do have a ton of heel cushion. Might last longer for heel-strikers.That being said, I continue to run in Novablasts because they just feel springier/faster, yet more cushy, than other Asics models and several Hokas. Ive compared them with Hoka Clifton 8, Rincon 3, and Mach 4s and for me, the Novablasts are just more of a fun fast ride. Great for a daily trainer. And theyre kind of fast enough-ish for speedwork if youre doing longer splits (but def not racing). So, I'm ... MoreIf you dont care about durability, theyre a great running shoe... So, I'm just going to keep replacing these every 285 miles I guess. For reference, I am a 5'2 female 112 lbs. I dont do any super-long distance runs (max 10 miles) and I typically do my daily runs at a 7:20-8:20 mile pace. I slightly underpronate/supinate for the first few miles, it gets more pronounced when if/when I get more tired. No injury woes since I started running in Novablasts.
I would highly suggest ordering a half size up!! I ordered a size 9 and that was already just so obviously too small. I’m reviewing the wrong order, too so I’m not sure why they’re asking me to review a pair I returned. Anyway, I bought this pair again but in a 9.5 and it’s perfect. Because normally I’ll wear slightly thicker socks. But even in the store when I went to pick them up and try them on, I used their thin fabric socks that aren’t actual socks and still felt too small. I have narrow feet and my toes may be a little longer than most but the 9 is just way too small. My mother is a long time buyer of good sneakers, she’s had ASICS in the past but she moved to Brookes and she told me that she has always ordered a half size up. I wish she had told me this info ...
