Best shoes for over pronation!

I recently discovered I’ve been wearing the wrong shoes my whole life! During physical therapy my therapist noticed how my foot goes inward when doing stabilizing exercises. She recommended a shoe for over pronation and ASICS was one of the brands she said offered shoes for that. ASICS was by far the easiest way to shop for my specific shoe issue online. At first I was worried cause this shoe is pretty bulky and not typical of the mesh bendy shoes I’ve always bought. However, this shoe is so incredibly comfortable! I can’t even wear other running shoes or fashion sneakers without noticing the huge difference in support in my feet. If you have an over pronation (your fit turns inward when you run/walk), definitely give this shoe a try!

Good for running

These shoes were really nice when I wore them for running my track practices. They helped with my shin splints a lot. However, I did start to feel plantar fasciitis pains when I wore them. After not wearing them, the pain is gone. I do not recommend wearing these shoes on the treadmill. I gave me major inside foot pain and huge blisters every time. After wearing these shoes for two months for track practices, the mesh on the top started to fade. I now have a big hole in my left shoe where my big toe would be. Keep in mind, this was for an intense workout Monday through Fridays. I will say for what I spent on them, I was not happy to find them unusable after 2 months.

Good trainer option for those with hyper-mobility

I have hyper-mobility and, despite these shoes not having very much ankle support, they’re the comfiest trainer I’ve been able to wear. And usually I am most comfortable in boots, so this has proved a great alternative option for spring and summer. They’re very comfortable for my feet, and breathable. I hate wearing shoes at work but these I happily can keep wearing all day. If I didn’t have to wear insoles, I would definitely feel the ankle support more, as the insoles lift my feet out of the support.

Good wide shoe suitable for bunions and foot issue
24 June 2023

Bought these trainers for general walking after foot surgery which had left me with some pain and discomfort from subsequent arthritis. My surgeon said I was over pronating when I walk and these are recommended for this. I do think they have helped me regain a correct walking gait. They are really comfortable for walking and give good support. They have a wide toe base which helps as I have a bunion on my other foot. My only criticism would be they are quite "stiff" when you first wear them as the lacing is tight ( which can be altered) but soften up after a while. They look good and the colour is nice and bright. Would definitely recommend as a walking/ hiking shoe for someone with foot issues

Great for my hyper pronation!
9 June 2023

I needed a shoe with good arch support for my hyper pronation. My orthopedic doctor recommended the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 28. I really liked that you could narrow your search by your pronation. I’m usually a 9 or 9.5 so because I was ordering a wide for the extra toe room I ordered the 9. Next time I’ll order the 9.5 because my toes are right to the end. One small issue is when I put my foot in it pushes the back collar down so I use a shoehorn when putting them on. Other than these very minor issues I would highly recommend them. These shoes are super comfortable right from start! I will definitely be ordering more.

Most comfortable running shoe
20 October 2023

A couple years ago I went to the local XC shop and they recommended these. I'm kicking myself for not buying multiple pairs. The Kayano 28 Wide are THE BEST. I tried the 29s (they are great - don't get me wrong) and some Brooks. But these are the best for my wide feet with great cushioning. I have the typical problems of over pronation - plantar fasciitis, shin splints, etc. The part that really stands out for me is the heal because I also have a scar on one ankle that rubs on so many other shoes. These just don't. I still wear my awesome coral 28s about twice a week and rotate with the 29s. Some days I just need a shoe that fits like a hug from a good friend.

Plantar and overpronation fixers - best runners!
23 June 2023

Comfy, gorgeous wide-fit supportive runners. This is my third pair of Gel-Kayanos after years of ill-fitting trainers for running, I finally splurged and they were worth every penny!Supportive soles for my overpronation (my plantar fasciitis doesn’t bother me when I run in these - just every other shoe!) and brilliant wide toe box so I’m super comfy while I wear them. Genuinely the best trainers I’ve ever owned - can highly recommend them for plantar suffers or people who overpronate/need a wider fit. I tend to size up in ASICS (normally a 5.5 in a wide fit but go with a 6.5 so check sizings).

Sooooooooo disappointed
6 March 2023

This was another go to sneaker that I would buy. I purchased 2 but I had to returned. There was not enough of room in the "upper" area of toe box area. My feet were being smashed because there was not enough of height. ( The upper fabric was smashing my toes). I couldn't even walk in them. Gel Kayano was always made with so much more room. I wear orthotists for over 20 years and I always have to compensate by getting a half size larger 9.5 & a wide width. These sneakers literally damaged my orthotists. I had to return the 2 pairs.

Upgrade from Gel Kayano 26
9 July 2023

Since I bought a pair of Gel Kayano 26 in 2020, I am addicted to the Kayano range. I am over pronation and honestly I will never use any other stability shoes. The Gel Kayano 28 has more padding in the surface area of the shoes. It feels more springy. The shoes have more cushion in the sole and I look taller in them than Kayano 26. The only thing is that the 28 model is not suitable for someone with chubby or wider feet. It is narrower at the front and middle of the shoes due to the heavy padding. The heel area also pushing inward so if you have big ankles they may not be the best. I had needle pain and burning sensation when I run in them when they are new. So please make sure you break the shoes by walking in them for at least a few days before you run a 10k in ... MoreSince I bought a pair of Gel Kayano 26 in 2020, I am addicted to the Kayano range. Very arch supportive
29 October 2023

I bought these as a replacement for a pair of ASICs that were three years old. I was looking for arch support, primarily for use in the gym. I found these to be all round supportive, and much lighter than my previous pair. The only negative was that they seemed to be slightly shorter in length as the other size 6 that I had previously bought. The arch support is exactly what I needed and I now do not ache on the ball of my foot foot or arch so all in all very happy. Love the bright pink!
