ASRock Intel Arc A770 Phantom Gaming D 8GB OC Graphics Card

The Intel ARC itself is fantastic for a first GPU series from Intel. It does still struggle with older DX applications but the drivers are slowly getting better. For the gamers it just gets by at 60fps+ at max settings 1440p for most games, and handles 1080p easily. The power efficiency is impressive, only because its competitors are so inefficient. The A770 kinda reminds me of the GTX1080Ti but now for half its price. Sadly not many AIB options in NZ, had no choice but to go with asrock and their quality really fits their reputation...its acceptable. Awesome 1440p budget GPU

I've been using this GPU for about two weeks now. My system is a B660m motherboard, i7-13700k, and 32GB of DDR5 6000 ram. As always, B&H have gone above and beyond with their level of service offered and the card was in my hands in AZ in less than 48 hours. It was incredibly well packed and arrived with no damage. So let's get to the GPU. Installation was similar to any other GPU. Installed the hardware, installed drivers, and started gaming. Any game I want to play just works. I've played Battlefield 4 and 2042, Modern Warfare 2, Escape from Tarkov, Valheim, and Red Dead Redemption 2 and all have run wonderfully on my LG 1440p monitor. No, I'm not maxing out my 165hz refresh rate, but everything sits very comfortably around 80-100 FPS. I use Intel XESS in MW2 and it boosts performance while doing a fantastic job at maintaining visual fidelity. As far as stability goes, I have not had a single crash in any of the games listed. Intel has done a great job at releasing driver updates on a regular basis and it seems to get a little faster all the time. I purchased this GPU because I wanted to see what it was really like, and I wanted to support Intel in their venture to become a new competitor in the GPU market, and I have zero regrets in doing so. I continue to be impressed by this offering and can't wait to see what the future holds for Intel and the currently (mostly) broken GPU market. Buy it now before the price goes up.

Buyer's remorse

After spending two or so weeks with this product, I would not recommend this to anyone. I'll probably switch back to my rx 580. There are far too many issues with this gpu. Black screen flickering while using display port at high refresh rates, possibility that the gpu will not be recognised by bios upon boot, bad gaming performance (DXVK isn't a solution for all games), etc. These issues appear to also plague others with different hardware setups on the Intel support discord. Over a month and no new drivers. The beta driver's are not promising. Playing around with drivers, bios setting, registry values has killed the joy in this 'upgrade'. Such a shame considering the hardware specifications are good.

Decent Mid-Level Graphics Card

The primary reason for obtaining this card was for the hardware AV1 encoding for video. I can't really rate it on gaming performance as I don't use the card for that function. Drivers are getting better for certain things like DX9 and other gaming engines. However, for video encoding, This card is one of the more cost-effective ways to get into the AV1 environment. Nice sleek looks and individual addressable RGB make this item a very attractive piece for the average computer setup.

Definitely a card for creators

I took a chance on this card with a reputation for serious driver problems, and so far my time with this card has been very good. I won't lie, it's a different experience with this card as with an NVIDIA card, but the only thing you really lose is NVENC, which having both AV1 and QSV more than make up for it. On the creator side, this card is pretty amazing. I haven't had any problems so far with any video editors, and it really excels at AI performance, in my case, Topaz Labs Video Enhance AI. With my short time with this card, my render times are 3-4 times shorter than with my NVIDIA RTX 2060. AV1 is also very powerful and incredibly fast on this GPU. On the gaming side, I don't play many games, but I was expecting a bit of a trainwreck, but it really wasn't bad. This card natively runs DX12, Vulkan, and OpenGL. Any time you run it in a lower DirectX version, it has to emulate and convert it into DX12, which is why there are so many incompatibilities and driver issues with games. I got to install it on the day that a big driver update came out, so I played a DX9 game (portal), which was totally fine, and a DX11 game (Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order), which had a lower frame rate than I expected (90-110 in 1440p), but still buttery smooth. Raytracing was actually much nicer than on my former RTX 2060. I am totally impressed by this! Textures were sharper and colors popped just a bit more. Using an Intel 12th or 13th gen CPU with a iGPU gives the Arc A770 some added benefits for both creative work and gaming. You absolutely don't want to use it with anything older than 10th gen Intel. I can't speak for AMD CPUs at all, but Intel users seem to have less errors or performance problems than AMD users. This GPU is a true testament to Intel's ability to innovate. Each driver release seems to bring big performance upgrades, and the latest driver uplifted the A770's performance from competing with the RTX 3060, to just a bit beyond the 3060 Ti. Intel insists there is untapped headroom still, and I wouldn't be surprised if this budget midranged GPU ends up being on par with the RTX 3070 Ti. I will add, the price really isn't bad for what you get, but there are no guarantees with this card. Settings are a bit scattered between Intel's Arc Control app and Graphics Commander app. You won't find a huge list of settings to play with like you would in NVIDIA's GeForce Control Panel, there are just a few, and they are scattered all over Arc Control. There is no way to control the fans unless you're able to hack Intel Arc and enable it (not too hard, but come on Intel). Still miles to go, but I'm enjoying my adventure with the Arc A770!

Getting there

I've had a pretty seamless experience with the A770 so far. I've only used the 4091 drivers, as those came out just before I received the card. It is a very nice-looking card, small and the packaging is solid. The associated software is fine, seems to do what it should. Still not the best card at this price point, but it has a lot of potential to improve as drivers mature. I like it for what it is, and am happy to see more GPU options on the market. Buy if you're curious, pass if you're trying to max frames per dollar.

Great mid-range GPU!

I purchased the Intel Arc 770 LE as a replacement and slight upgrade to my Sapphire RX 6600 XT, and it hasn't been a disappointment! My games have shown a marked improvement in frame rates and stability. I am yet to experience any driver issues, but that might be due to the fact that I purchased the card after most of the early problems were addressed. I would recommend this GPU to anyone looking for an alternative to Radeon RX6600/6700 and Nvidia RTX 3060/3070 units. I'm glad gamers have another choice now. Competition is always a good thing.

Hidden Gem of a GPU

This is a really solid card for it's price even with the little hiccups it has. I've been doing emulation and some solid 1080p gaming with it and I haven't had any problems. The temperatures of the card are nice and low even after hours of gaming. The only real problems I've had aren't too major and it's mostly just it being such a new card that some older games do have minor issues running. Word of advice,make sure to install the latest drivers before installing the card to your case. It makes it a lot easier to setup.

Works great! Check GameSupport

The GPU works great. Only thing to watch out for is game compatibility. As the the GPU is relatively new as or writing this, not all games are supported (EX. CoD Cold War). The list of compatible games has been growing steadily though. As for receiving the physical GPU, the packaging was fantastic and the shipping speed was incredible! The unit was triple boxed (outer box with air cushion, inner box with foam insert, GPU box) and arrived earlier than expected!

However after a couple of days this behaviour went away and it worked correctly.Performance is great compared to my old GTX 1060, Intel XeSS is also seems to work very well (when it's supported :p). The majority of my time spent with this card has been in Linux. You'll need the 6.0 kernel, but apart from that the drivers have been as stable as any other Mesa supported card (considerably more stable than nVidia cards).
