Astell&Kern A&futura SE200 Digital Audio Player by Addicted to Audio

You really do need a cover as the angular design (sharp edges etc) are a bit uncomfortable. However otherwise it's great. Have only had it for a few weeks but so far it has met all my expectations. It's a great quality unit which does all I want, excellent buy.

The SE100 is by far the best A&K product I have used. The sound is crisp, exact and has a great tonal quality. The unit itself is instinctual in its use and responds promptly to inputs. All in all I am extremely thrilled with the complete package.

As close to perfection as could be..

I am a longtime Astell & Kern user. I have their AK70II and SE100. I debated a long time before going for the SE200. And I must say there is not a second when I regretted that decision. It is unbelievable how much better music sounds from SE200 as compared to SE100 which in itself is a superb player. The 2 DACs are amazing.. each giving a slightly different punch to the music. Any type of music.. may it be classical rock blues pop.. any genre.. sounds supremely better on SE200. I've used my wired Focal Elear and Jabra 85t and 75h on Bluetooth. All sound amazing.. simply amazing. Can't get enough of my new SE200!

Astel&Kern SE200

Very good sound. Be aware that the pre installed Tidal does not have an Off line option. You get 256 Gb of internal memory and you can’t save from Tidal.Astell&Kern have no clue how to solve it. Tidal stopped responding to my emails. My Samsung Galaxy S10+ can do it. Had to use off line on my trip to Europe. I’m glad that I didn’t go ahead with upgrading my S21 Ultra to the S23 for $70 trade in. More functional then A&K.

After a short hiatus from high end audio equipment, I decided to purchase the SE200 with a pair of CFA Solaris 2020 (my review of these on the respective product page). The A&K SE200 delivers and is a super flexible device, with multiple DAC configuration that allows for specific characteristic of sound to be utilised respectively based on user's preference, also either balanced or unbalanced. The sound and battery is excellent. Can't fault it, it comes with plenty of storage, some pre-installed apps and most importantly - is compact enough to take it anywhere. Highly recommend getting a carrying case as it will protect the pricey device. It is a very versatile player and it performs extremely well. Good value too, the unit is made exceptionally well and you can feel it the moment you put it in your hands. It is not a cheap-plastic wannabe. This thing is a solid product that matches both in quality of sound and finish. Highly recommended.

Sounds Amazing

I used to have the Astell and Kern AK JR and my camera gear along with that player got stolen. I replaced it with the Pioneer XDP-300R and it was alright as a temporary player. I did buy and return the Astell and Kern KANN because the sound didn't impressive me, it was way too bulky and had connection problems for usb. Last December I purchased the SE200 and love it. It is a player that's going to be hard to beat. The detail is amazing. I love having the two DACs, even though I do find myself listening to AKM more, I used ESS about 20 percent of the time. It all depends on the type of music you are listening to. Totally separate record player to speakers for daily listening in apartment.Pros:- Listening to every detail as if you were in the recording studio (I have been in a recording studio many times)- Easy to transfer music- Wired or Bluetooth (Wired is louder and more detailed)- You can get apps on here, weird way to do it but you can- Love the volume wheel- Two DAC- Good VolumeCons:- Bluetooth Audio could be louder- Bluetooth signal could be stronger- Tried many cases, need more options- Wish ESS was louder- Wish their was a Gain increase but not like I would use it that much because it's already loud enough without it. Just would like the sound boost if I needed.- Boot up could be faster- Touch screen could be more responsive faster- Menu needs improved but always had with Astell and Kern- Left side (Back, Forward, Play and Pause Buttons are horrible) especially with case covering them.Even though their are many negatives because I'm picky about everything, the main reason I got this player was for the sound quality, the amount of detail. The SE200 takes you to a whole new level in listening to High Resolution (DSD, MQA) music. I take this player everywhere, it fits in your pocket perfectly unless you are those people who wear skinny jeans. I give this a 5 out of 5 because the Cons are minor and this is the perfect player for under $2,000, especially when you get it for under $1,400.
