I have purchased these for quite a few years and find them a very good value for the money. They are consistently good and give an amazingly good shave time after time. I don't need to replace them with every shave if they are flipped over after use, the platinum finish is very durable. Hopefully they will remain available down the road under the current circumstances.

I bought these to go with my safety razor on my first plunge for shaving my legs. They are super super cheap and do the job well. You have to be careful around knees, it's a bit like getting used to shaving again like when I was a teenager but it's getting easier and easier. My legs are much happier, no more shaving rashes/red dots on my legs or ingrown hairs. It's great and saving loads if money

A very worthwhile comparison but . . . Feathers for me.

A great and affordable opportunity to try top-rated blades to see what works for you. There is no universal answer to this question: (1) your beard; (2) your water; (3) your razor; (4) your shaving soap/cream/gel; and (5) probably many other variables all influence this choice. For me, with a Merkur 34C, very soft St. Louis water, Ogllala Bay Rum Soap, and a mixed beard of tough white and gray hairs, and softer brown, blonde and red hairs (i'm complex, OK?) my personal preference in this set was:(1) Feather(2) Astra(3) Merkur. The Feathers were far and away the sharpest and longest lasting (5+ shaves). The Astras lasted fewer shaves, began to pull sooner and were prone to razor burn at the corners of the mouth. The Merkurs were a complete disappointment. Dullest of the three with substantial pulling on my coarser hairs, definite mouth-corner razor burn even with a light tough, plus only lasting 2-3 shaves. Of course, your mileage may vary. Overall a fine sampler, and a cost-effective way to see if any of these are the right blades for you.

Adequate blades for great prices..
5 July 2020

I recently made the switch from cartridges to an old fashioned double edge razor. Ive realised the importance of finding the right blade. I got 10 Astra blades with my razor but found them to be too sharp. After reading a variety of articles, forums and reviews I decided to try derby blades as they were said to be great for beginners of traditional shaving. I was pleased to find derby as a brand were very cheap, so I bought some. As I used the remainder of the Astra blades I became used to them and started to get clean and smooth shaves. Then I started the Derbys and it was back to square one. At first they were a bit harsh and got cuts and rashes. I also noticed slight inconsistencies between each new blade and a couple were starting to rust when I replaced them. I tried altering my technique and shaved more lightly letting the blade do more of the work. This achieved much better results albeit it is not as close as Id like and I still have to go over certain parts of my face twice. Ignore recommendations based on your level of experience. I think different blades suit different face shapes and thickness of growth. I think Ill go back to the sharper blades after I finish these and Ill try a different brand. Maybe one has to find their perfect blade through trial and error!?

Amazing Shave
27 January 2022

A couple of months ago I purchased a large selection of double edged blades. After trying two brands I gave the Gillette Astra a try. Couldn’t get over the close, smooth shave I get. No pulling and the more I shaved the quicker I started to move across my face. No nicks! I continued my quest for my perfect blade but after two more shaves of so-so results I thought, what’s the point, I found the perfect blade for my face! Buy them now, they will be hard to find after Russia invades the Ukraine. .

I've been shaving with these for 3 years now; I shave twice per week and change out the blade after 3-5 uses. Once in a while I get one that shaves like crap, but for 11 cents each you really can't beat these! I'm still using my first 100-pack from 3 years ago and I'm on the last few 5-pack boxes so I'll need to order more in the coming months. These kick the crap out of the fancy Gillette disposable razors (not to mention the other brands, too) and I haven't bought any of those in years. Astra has been around for a long time, and I don't see myself changing brands anytime soon.

Irritation free!

I have been using feather blades strictly for 10 years. They were my go to after trying a few other blades at the beginning of my double edged safety blade shaving journey. I always saw these Astra blades with great reviews when it would be time to order more blades. Well feather prices have gone up and with the rising cost of everything else I figured I would try something cheaper just to save a few bucks. I am so glad I did. These blades are far superior in the comfort department. I would only be able to get one pass in with the grain using feather blades because they were so aggressive. I never experienced a baby smooth shave that everyone talked about and I was perfectly content just shaving everyday with one pass. Until now. Sharp enough and consistent
31 December 2021

I've been using these blades for several years now, and I've never been disappointed. I know that many find them less sharp than Feather, but I don't need anything sharper than these. And they are consistent from one blade to the next, year after year. Finally, they last. If you do two passes every time you shave, you're probably looking at three to four days per blade. One pass, of course, will extend life accordingly. Regardless, a great blade.

Some of the best blades in the market...
7 September 2018

I'm a returning customer, these blades are top of the line for me and if you have a mid to coarse beard, this is a good blade to suit your needs. These are so impressive because having coarse beard they last for several shaves; I use them for three or four shaves. Some blades only last for two shaves, these blades glide on my face effortlessly and shave hair like a hot knife through butter. I really recommend them if you don't want something as aggressive as feather in sharpness but with great smoothness. I even liked these more than personna lab blues in regards to sharpness, these also maintain the edge longer for me than personnas. Today, I went to my local barber shop for a hair cut and beard edging. Whenever I get my beard and hair done I give my barber some of my favorite blades. Well, today I gave him an Astra Super Platinum, he asked me right away for the brand. I told them these are called Astra Super Platinum. He told me these are the best blades he has ever tried with a client in regards to sharpness and smoothness. The other day I gave him some feathers and he told me Astra are far better in smoothness and sharpness as well. In fact, he asked me to get him some as soon as I can. He was very surprised how Astra blades glide in your face like hot knife through butter and maintain the edge longer than most blades in the market. Give them a try, for seven dollars a 100 pack, you do not have a whole lot to lose; I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Very sharp w/o being too aggressive, great price
5 September 2022

I have very thick, coarse hair but also sensitive skin. I've tried feather but those are too aggressive and also a handful of others that wouldn't cut my hair as well. These hit the sweet spot for me. Still very sharp but still good for my skin and not overly priced either. These are my go-to blade for the foreseeable future.
