Asus GeForce RTX 3070 Dual OC 8GB Graphics Card

My son has been and continues to be on the EVGA waitlist to get an RTX 3080. A few days before Christmas I braved the cold to get on the early morning waitlist at my local Micro Center to try and get one for him. Long story short, I was #48 in line and they only had 45 3080s that day, but I wisely selected the 3070 as an alternate. Took it home and he installed it later that day. In combination with the high hertz rate on the new monitor he got for Christmas a few days later he's very pleased. It is a little large even in a 2 fan configuration, so make sure you have plenty of room in your case. The lighting is very subtle and it looks really classy. Great performance/price breakdown.I'm glad I was able to get this for him before the prices went up, but from early analysis (seat of my pants viewing), this is a worthy upgrade if you can't afford to go all the way to 3080-land.

I waited a couple of weeks of owning this beast to make a review so here it is. First off coming from a 1660 super this was a great step up to 1440p gaming. It plays all my games at ultra/max settings and get 100+ fps and the max temperature I've seen is 75° even after hrs of gaming. The fans are hardly audible during gaming and one of my favorite features with it is when it's at a certain temperature the fans turn off so at idle or just browsing the net its quite. I have this paired with a 5800x and I have no issues with stuttering or anything of the sort. It fits in my fractal c case no problem. Overall all its a fantastic card if you can get your hands on it and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about buying it. This is an amazing little graphics card. Now, I'm not doing anything crazy with my computer. No overclocking, throttling, etc. I just watch videos and play games. That said, after a little bit of tweaking I was able to unlock the full capabilities of this card, and I was pulling over 200fps on certain scenes in my games. While actually playing I was getting about 160fps normally, all with my GPU temp staying around 60*C.I will say though that if you are a new builder, make sure to use the Display Port if you want to use your card to it's full potential.
