A huge case with minimal space inside
2 June 2024

originally posted on digitec.ch

I really wanted to like this case, but the space I have to build inside is not as good as in the HAF 700 case I had. I switched back to that Coolermaster case instead of using it. The HAF 700 has much better airflow and a ton of space for proper cable management. I think Asus should redesign this case to be bigger and more versatile. For now, building a top-notch system inside is not easy, because of the space you have, especially if you have a lot of SSDs.

This is one absolute beast of a gaming PC case. It is very high quality and absolutely HUGE! I am very impressed with it, and incredibly satisfied with the design, size, and quality.Pros: very big size and heavy, quiet fans, lots of vents, SUPER easy to build in, several storage areas for SSD/HDD, front I/O is great (my mobo only allows one side to be active so consider that when buying mobo)Cons: no RGB on fans, case is not enclosed (small gaps at top that dust might get into)Overall, I highly recommend this PC case and even though it is very expensive it is absolutely worth every penny. Buying this case is definitely a future proof for upgrading to bigger cooler (up to 420mm) and graphics cards

This case is a big one, but very well constructed and looks amazing. I love the side panels, and how easy it is to open them just to make quick adjustments or remove them if I need to do more detailed work on the PC.The only issue I had is that I own an EATX motherboard that has alot of the connections on the right side of the motherboard (ROG MAXIMUS EXTREME). It was hard to make the connections because I did not know that the GPU holder part could be removed. Once I removed it I had enough space to make all the connections. But that's just a minor issue, the case is very easy to work with and once finished it looks beautiful. Everyone that sees it is always surprised by the looks.

Best Case So Far
29 June 2024

Easy to set up clean set up when finished fastening points for all cables deafly silent when all fan connected. One screw driver will do everything as well as all the tool less features that help the builder, great instruction manual. The only thing they could improve is selling 140mm RGB fans themselves with customisable cable lengths.

DO NOT BUY ONLINE
24 February 2024

I bought the case online in January, $503.19 with shipping and taxes. It arrived with a broken magnetic latch for one of the side panels.I immediately opened a support case and have since been handed off to 15 support reps over a $2 piece of plastic and metal.Asus support is incompetent at best, their solution is to send the entire case to a support center which is impractical at best and poor business sense at worst. I will NEVER buy another Asus product from their storefront again, hard stop, period! The case itself is fine but the magnets for the side panels are trash, the doors will freely swing open if you have to move your computer, they're not even neodymium....for the price I expected better.Long story short the case looks cool, but Asus' abysmal ... MoreI bought the case online in January, $503.19 with shipping and taxes. I recieved the product a while ago,now i finally got all my parts and decided to build the pc but i noticed the rog panel inside is scratched a little bit on the bottomAnd the other thing is when i tried to mount the PSU i noticer that i couldn't put the top right screw because the metal was dent on the way back and i can only put 3 screws, eventually will need bigger one to be able to fully screw it but i doubt it,moral of the story im guessing because of the delivery...sadly didnt took any pics cuz i put the case back in the packageP.S take a look at the end of the panel at the bottom

Great Case - one “but”
7 November 2023

This is clearly a quality case, ample room and great build quality. Easily housed my Asus based system with huge 4090 strix card and 420 AIO radiator mounted in the top. My only criticism is with securing the very heavy graphics card on the PCIe case slots. There is a big lack of space so you need to place screws through part of the case grill to secure the card in place. Very little space and access with a large card and very fiddly. For the price of this case there absolutely should be an accessible tool-free solution. Otherwise, very happy and this case looks great.

New Asus GR701 build
14 February 2024

This review entails my first PC build ever, and as a senior citizen I was somewhat concerned with my technical abilities, though I have owned many PCs over the years. I purchased the following Asus ROG brand parts: GR701 Hyperion Case, Thor 1200w P2 PSU, Ryujin III 360 AIO, Strix Z790-E WiFi II MB, STRIX RTX4080S GPU. The build was fairly straight forward with the case providing ample room for everything, the case is huge. The included Fan/ARGB hub simplified the connections of all the fan and lighted components. It looks amazing with all the Aura RGB lights. This PC build worked as flawlessly as I had hoped given all the Asus components working together perfectly. I liked the Armory Crate ability to update all my drivers for all these components with one simple effort. I only have two critical comments in an otherwise beautiful and fantastic build. 1) The screws holding the PCI slot covers are very difficult to reach, this made the installation of the GPU more difficult than necessary, though the built-in support bracket is wonderful. 2) The case has two type c ports on the front but the motherboard only supports one. I updated the bios, loaded Win 11, and everything worked perfectly, I really couldn't be happier, well worth the cost.

Rock Solid Gigantic PC Case with very few issues
13 December 2023

I was gunning for this case since months and was debating whether to upgrade from Hyte Y60 to Hyperion GR701 or Hyte Y70 and my heart won over my mind cuz my heart is always with ROG.So, what bothers me is, the plastic hinge cable cover. With a case like this, once can expect soo much of wiring, sometimes cannot upgrade everything including wiring. couple of my wires were pushing the plastic cover about 10mm and right side glass door wont shut. Second, top fan access. I tried installing push-pull configuration to my Ryujin II 360mm rad but failed due to limited space. Also, they could have supplied this pricy case with a riser cable with ROG logo/branding or RGB base.. it would have been dope. Apart from those things, I am extremely happy.Cooling is amazing even ... MoreI was gunning for this case since months and was debating whether to upgrade from Hyte Y60 to Hyperion GR701 or Hyte Y70 and my heart won over my mind cuz my heart is always with ROG.So, what bothers me is, the plastic hinge cable cover. Showpiece case
7 August 2024

This case is not the easiest to build in, just to get the PSU in, 3 sections each with 2 screws need to be removed. The vast amount of cabling is already pre cable tied and neat so requires some thought before unravelling and it's also very heavy. But, once a suitable motherboard and component set is installed this looks phenomenal. RGB lighting isn't too in your face, it's subtle and looks appropriate. The case has a wow factor like no other. The 140mm case fans are silent, you literally can't hear this when it's on, only the CPU cooler when stressed is audible. Make sure you read the full instructions available on the Asus website as it's essential to understand how it all comes apart but this is worth every penny.
