The back cover has a slightly rugged feel and seems like it would provide some decent protection for the tablet and its rear camera. The keyboard is surprisingly good for a detachable unit, with nice travel in the keys, and it's fully backlit as well. The trackpad doesn't disappoint either, with a nice firm click and a smooth operation of the mouse and various gestures. While I typically prefer a true laptop over a combo machine like this, I have to say that ASUS has done a phenomenal job of making everything feel high-end and work seamlessly.Once I got everything set up, I was excited to test out this sleek-looking piece of hardware. In "desktop" mode (with keyboard/trackpad and stand set up), this feels like a nice 13.3" laptop. When you remove the tablet from the keyboard, it goes into "tablet" mode, which looks very similar to your standard windows OS, yet it's all being operated via the touchscreen. I liked this mode as a virtual keyboard would appear as needed; the orientation would automatically adjust based on which way I was holding the tablet; the touch screen was extremely responsive; and I was able to carry it around and do things like watch videos while sitting on the sofa.That being said, you can still use the touchscreen while it’s in desktop mode. I tend to forget this and only use one or the other (keys/trackpad or touch), but it is cool that you have these options at all times.During my testing, everything ran smoothly and efficiently. This tablet uses a new Snapdragon X Processor, 16 gigs of RAM, and a 1TB SSD, meaning I never really found any tasks that were too much for this computer to handle. Web browsing, streaming content, writing and editing papers, and light gaming were my go-to tasks, and I had a great time seeing what the ProArt is capable of. Overall this is an impressive PC that can be used for productive tasks, and entertainment as well.I liked using some of the Copilot+ features, and if you're into AI and what it can do, this machine is definitely set up to work with it. Since it runs Windows 11, I found that daily use was a breeze, and is easy to work with and set up if you’re familiar with any modern Windows products.There are some really cool features on the ProArt tablet that I feel I need to mention. First of all, the beautiful OLED screen. The resolution is spectacular, and the visuals simply pop with color and definition. This is by far one of the best screens I've seen on any laptop or tablet, hands down.ASUS states that the ProArt has a 70 Wh battery; I’m not exactly sure what that means, but in my real-world testing, battery life has been great. The included charger is large, robust, and charges the tablet quickly and efficiently as well.Another great feature is the inclusion of useful ports. No PC would be complete without these, and this machine is equipped with 2 USB-C ports and a Micro SD card reader.I also think that the rugged capability of this product is worth mentioning. It's dust and water-rated and has been tested in extreme hot and cold temperatures. While I doubt that I’ll ever take mine to the Sahara desert, it is nice to know that the ProArt can withstand some serious temperature fluctuations.The ProArt tablet has cameras on the front (screen side) and a 13 MP camera on the rear. I like that this takes advantage of face unlocking in Windows, as it made my time testing and using the tablet easier and more seamless.All in all, I think that ASUS has simply knocked it out of the park with the ProArt PZ13. I wasn’t sure of what I would think of a device that can be used as both a tablet and a laptop, but after spending time with it, I see how this truly allows you to get the best of both worlds. While this tablet is exceptional to begin with, the inclusion of Copilot+ AI features puts it a step ahead of similar PCs on the market. If you're looking for a go-anywhere, do-anything tablet that doubles as a PC, the ASUS ProArt PZ13 should be at the top of your list!

The Asus Pro Art PZ13 feels like a fast, versatile, and extremely easy to use PC/Tablet with on-device Copilot+ AI Features. This new key is handy for pulling up the Copilot AI tool which I had already decided I'm going to maintain a pro subscription to (for the near future). However, I'm still getting used to not having the right control key, and that will take time. I do love that I can press Alt+F4 to close a window despite the function key row otherwise (as on many keyboards today) being repurposed with alternate non-f-key functions (like brightness).The included camera supports Windows Hello Face Recognition. The video quality on the front facing camera and the rear camera are both clear as far as built-in PC Web Cams go. I will be using the front facing one frequently for Google Meet Calls.Wi-Fi 7 dual-band-simultaneous support is included, and it seems fast. When compared with my Surface Pro 11 (the only other device I have that supports Wi-Fi 7), Wi-Fi 7 was faster and much more reliable (especially at a distance) on the Asus Pro Art when compared with the SP11 when tested under the same conditions. In most covered areas we got close to our full 590Mbps service. In areas (outside of house) where other devices max out around 300Mbps, this device was getting 430+ Mbps.The Pro Art having a 1TB SSD means I won't be looking to upgrade storage (at least not right away). It's unclear if the storage is user-upgradable, and I'm personally not sure I'll need to.There are Copilot+ AI PC Features, like Studio Effects- - Among other things, Studio effects offers one feature that smooths your skin like an animation - but when I tried it during a meeting the other person in the meeting did notice it (because they know how I normally look) and preferred to see me with the animation filter off. It also features an automatic tracking feature, so if you put your Asus Pro Art on a desktop and sit back a bit, it will zoom in on your face and gradually follow you around if you move around.Compliments to Asus for the nice packaging job, felt like this was a professional product from the initial unboxing of the convertible PC/tablet. I don't want that to influence my review too much, though, because you only unbox it once and use it (ideally) daily. After my time evaluating the tablet, I will say that I would recommend this convertible PC over any other I've used so far.

Plus, the 1TB SSD storage is a simple 'minimum' necessity, in my opinion.The detachable backlit keyboard lets you use the tablet as what amounts to a wannabe "laptop."This tablet is slim and 'lightweight' but is solidly built, both inside and out. The durable cover/adjustable stand/keyboard case really looks and feels sturdy, and is absolutely designed to protect the tablet.The beautiful, bright, clear OLED touchscreen is hyper responsive! Visuals are super colorful! However, I could easily see everywhere my fingers touched the Corning Gorilla Glass. Not that this is a 'deal breaker.' It's just something worth noting, and an incentive for you to regularly clean the screen.The dual cameras - front facing and on the back side - are what you'd expect. Audio coming from the speakers sounds good, even without pumping up the volume to its maximum level. There is an exhaust "window" on the right hand side and along the top edge of the tablet for the fan, which I could hear working more loudly when I tried playing a couple of lower graphics intensive games on Steam. Yet, it was whisper quiet when using the tablet for other basic computing functions.As for connectivity options ... there are 2 USB-C ports, along with a slot for an SD card. If you are wanting to use additional wired peripherals, you will likely be needing to purchase an adapter to give you more port plug-ins.While this model ProArt tablet does not include an (optional) ASUS Pen 2.0, there IS a microSD card adapter included for those wanting to transfer images or video from a camera or camcorder, in order to make use of all this AI enhanced tablet has to offer.Overall, this ASUS ProArt PZ13 tablet is a well-thought out and beautifully designed device. To me, it's basically a laptop masquerading as a tablet. I'm enjoying this ProArt tablet so far, and hope to use it to create many amazing projects.

It's unclear if the storage is user-upgradable, and I'm personally not sure I'll need to.There are Copilot+ AI PC Features, like Studio Effects- - Among other things, Studio effects offers one feature that smooths your skin like an animation - but when I tried it during a meeting the other person in the meeting did notice it (because they know how I normally look) and preferred to see me with the animation filter off. It also features an automatic tracking feature, so if you put your Asus Pro Art on a desktop and sit back a bit, it will zoom in on your face and gradually follow you around if you move around.Compliments to Asus for the nice packaging job, felt like this was a professional product from the initial unboxing of the convertible PC/tablet. I don't want that to influence my review too much, though, because you only unbox it once and use it (ideally) daily. After my time evaluating the tablet, I will say that I would recommend this convertible PC over any other I've used so far.

The durable cover/adjustable stand/keyboard case really looks and feels sturdy, and is absolutely designed to protect the tablet.The beautiful, bright, clear OLED touchscreen is hyper responsive! Visuals are super colorful! However, I could easily see everywhere my fingers touched the Corning Gorilla Glass. Not that this is a 'deal breaker.' It's just something worth noting, and an incentive for you to regularly clean the screen.The dual cameras - front facing and on the back side - are what you'd expect. Audio coming from the speakers sounds good, even without pumping up the volume to its maximum level. There is an exhaust "window" on the right hand side and along the top edge of the tablet for the fan, which I could hear working more loudly when I tried playing a couple of lower graphics intensive games on Steam. Yet, it was whisper quiet when using the tablet for other basic computing functions.As for connectivity options ... there are 2 USB-C ports, along with a slot for an SD card. If you are wanting to use additional wired peripherals, you will likely be needing to purchase an adapter to give you more port plug-ins.While this model ProArt tablet does not include an (optional) ASUS Pen 2.0, there IS a microSD card adapter included for those wanting to transfer images or video from a camera or camcorder, in order to make use of all this AI enhanced tablet has to offer.Overall, this ASUS ProArt PZ13 tablet is a well-thought out and beautifully designed device. To me, it's basically a laptop masquerading as a tablet. I'm enjoying this ProArt tablet so far, and hope to use it to create many amazing projects.

The keyboard is a full keyboard with a low-profile, large keys, and a backlight for easy viewing in low light conditions. The mousepad is large and includes well placed quick commands for volume, brightness, and playback. The strong magnets on the case and keyboard ensure they stay in place.The ASUS Pro Art PZ13 tablet is equipped with 2 USB-C ports that support quick charging. However, both ports are on the same side, which might be a minor inconvenience for some users. The SD slot with the accompanied microSD adapter makes transferring photos and videos between devices simple. The charger is compact and lends to the portability of the tablet, although when charging the tablet nor charger have an indicator light.When listening to music the sound quality is mediocre and not the immersive audio experience the PZ13 boasts. There is a muffled quality as if the speakers are covered or being blocked. The tablet does not have an audio jack so external speakers or headphones must be connected via Bluetooth. The 5 MP front camera is decent for video conferences, while the 13 MP rear camera captures beautiful and vivid pictures. I do not know how often I will use the tablet to take pictures, but it's nice to have the option.The battery life is impressive, although it ultimately depends on how the device is being used at the time of use. For instance, at 89% I had 14 hours remaining, but after 4 hours spent using the keyboard, browsing the internet, and running different programs including Cricut Design Space, OneNote, and Spotify the battery life quickly fell to 5 hours. When compared to other comparable devices I have used, the ASUS battery life still outperforms and gives me confidence that I will have ample time to work before the tablet needs a recharge.I have not yet jumped on the AI bandwagon, but for users looking to explore or utilize AI, the ASUS PZ13 heavily promotes and features AI compatibility with Co-Pilot. Overall, if you're looking to enhance productivity as a creative professional and need a device that's packed with powerful hardware to support your needs and lifestyle, the ASUS Pro Art PZ13 stands up to the task.

The attachable keyboard is thin and flimsy, connecting via magnets to the tablet. There is no additional ports on the keyboard, no additional battery, just a thin flimsy keyboard that squeaks when typing. The tablet comes with a magnetic back cover that snaps on pretty easily and stays in place well enough. It has a hard kickstand the comes out so you can use it in a pseudo laptop like configuration. The problem is that it doesn't work well for using on your lap, slight angles/leaning/moving cause the setup to become contorted and horrible to use compared to other laptops. This would have been much better served to have shipped with a more hard keyboard attachment with a solid hinge that was detachable to give you a solid laptop experience while also allowing it to be used as a tablet.In addition to that, while this is marketed as 'for creators', the Asus Pen that is advertised along with it doesn't actually come with the tablet. You'd think for the price they would include the pen, but no they ask an additional $100 for it. Probably for the best because the pen attachment on the case is a simple cheap plastic loop which I would trust holding a bic pen, let alone a $100 pen.Without the pen, you're stuck with the mediocre windows tablet experience where the interface isn't intuitive driving you mad with misclicks or struggling to figure out how to perform the action you need. This isn't necessarily an Asus problem, but they are selling a windows tablet, they should be doing what they can to mitigate the known issues (in this case, shipping it with the Asus pen).As for performance in creative apps, the new Snapdragon processors leave a lot to be desired. In Photoshop it performs about as well as other 20w CPUs that are out, but lag behind other more powerful CPUs. In photoshop the performance is about what I expected and is usable for light tasks. Whats not usable is just about any other Adobe applications. For video editing in Premiere Pro, the performance comes in drastically low, only competing with 10 year old CPUs. Its not entirely the CPUs fault, but instead Adobes for not porting over Premiere to ARM yet, which leads us to the next problem, app support.For creators, you most likely are going to be using Adobe apps, but outside of Photoshop and Premiere Pro, the rest aren't supported yet. Illustrator in Creative Cloud redirects you to a web app, there is no InDesign, no After Effects, etc. You're limited to just those two. Whats ironic about this is the free 3 month trial for Adobe Creative Cloud that comes with this is essentially just a 3 month trial of Photoshop.On the plus side, other companies are doing better at porting their software, Affinity has ported their 3 software suites to work with ARM already and they work very well on this. Still wouldn't attempt to do any heavy lifting with this, but for light work they perform just as well as other laptops. For video the best option I have found is Davinci Resolve which has also been ported to ARM. For all they've done though, you're still limited by the slow CPU/GPU found in the tablet and its not going to be a pleasant experience.There are positives to this tablet though. The screen is absolutely phenomenal. Quite possibly the best looking display I've seen on a device yet. The 1800p OLED screen packs a PPI north of 250 leading to an extremely sharp image. The blacks are extremely deep because of the OLED panel which leaves you with an essentially infinite contrast ratio. The colors are very vibrant, in fact in some videos I found them maybe to be a little over saturated but nothing that I feel detracted from the experience. The only drawback I have experienced with the display is the lack of an anti-reflective coating. This is a very glossy display which leads to high def reflections in bright environments. Additionally, one of the drawbacks of the OLED display is the blacks raise to become purple when you have direct light hitting the display, making the blacks worse than what you'd experience on an IPS display. Not really a big issue, but something to be on the lookout for.Finally, the sound on this tablet is really nice. The speaker setup on this is better than what you'd experience on most laptops. I found it to be very comparable to a Macbook in this regard which is nice. The sound seems a little artificially 'bassy' but thats a nice contrast to other laptops and tablets that come off very flat. The volume is also very respectible for something so small.All this said, for what they are asking for this device I feel like you should be getting a lot more. A more useful keyboard, a pen, and more performance. If this had the 10 core Snapdragon in it I wouldn't be so harsh, but this is the new 8 core that is aimed at budget devices, but here Asus is asking a premium price giving you the least amount possible.

Then the setup is just like a normal Windows laptop, the transformation between tablet and laptop is smooth and easy. The tablet with keyboard case attached feels heavier than other tablets with a case on but is noticeably lighter than a comparable laptop.The PZ13 has 2 USB-C ports and an SD Card slot, with the SD Card slot and 1 USB-C under a dust shield. Asus includes an SD Card to Micro SD converter. On the other side are volume buttons, with the bottom having the Keyboard connector.Keyboard/Case/Stand:The included magnetic keyboard case is a huge plus to the PZ13, the keyboard and case just snap on and are ready to go. I found the chiclet keyboard to be very comfortable and responsive to type on, though I have smaller than average hands, so anyone with larger digits might find the keyboard to be small. The keyboard is backlit which makes it easier for working on the go and in the dark.The included multi-touch track pad is good and supports smart gestures that help with navigation. I did find that the sensitivity of the Brightness and Volume controls on the Left and Right sides of the touchpad to be too low, it took a few swipes to get the tablet to register the input. But both settings can be controlled via other settings or buttons on the side of the tablet, which makes this a minor concern for me.With the front half of the case working as a keyboard, the back half of the case also must carry some weight, as it folds out as a stand which props up the tablet to the perfect viewing angle. This makes it the perfect on the go tablet that can then fold out easily into a comfortable and productive workspace. The only thing missing from this convertible tablet is a Stylus, which can be purchased separately as an optional add-on, but it feels like a huge, missed opportunity by ASUS to not bundle the ASUS Pen 2.0 with a tablet that would really benefit from the Stylus. I’m kind of confused but will most likely be ordering the Stylus in the next few weeks.The only concern I had about the keyboard case was that it left the corners of the table exposed.The tablet itself has an IP52 rating and Corning Gorilla Glass but is still a tablet and with a chance to hit the side of the tablet directly if dropped always has me concerned. I’ll likely get some bumpers or pads, just to avoid a similar fate of the last tablet.OLED Touch Screen:The BEST feature of the ProArt PZ13 is front and center, the beautiful OLED Touch screen is vivid and bright. OLED technology is still a newer technology with some issues to work out, but ASUS has done a great job with this screen. The whites are bright but not overwhelming in a way that hurts the eye. Reading text can be a bit tiring on the eye but switching to a dark theme (black background with white text) makes it much easier on the eyes.The colors just pop with vividness that is on another level. The ProArt series is known for its color accuracy, and it does not disappoint. Overall, I found the colors were very close though the Reds and Oranges did come off heightened or more intense than would be in real life, but I didn’t find this to be a big enough issue for our use and could be adjusted through calibration in the future. The most noticeable difference between a backlit screen vs. the OLED screen is when looking at true black, it’s like staring into a void of color! Amazing!The touch screen does take an intentional press to register a touch, such that I didn’t notice any issues getting it to register a press but noticed that accidental presses from the side of my hand or swipes across the screen didn’t get picked up. This is very helpful in the case where you are drawing or editing with a stylus and resting the side of your palm on the screen, the table will not register it as a press.CoPilot+:Honestly, I’ve yet to really see a software benefit for the CoPilot+ PC’s. It is nice that anything with CoPilot+ will have a minimum of hardware specs that should be good for most people, the other benefits will really depend on what applications you use. We were able to take advantage of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, as they have native versions that run on ARM Processors, which made editing headshots on the go easier than before which would require us to wait to get home to do so on one of the desktops. But this was mostly due to the hardware and had less to do with the CoPilot+ features, which left me unimpressed.Performance:As mentioned above, I found doing light editing and adjustments on photos to be a breeze on the ProArt PZ13, this was no desktop computer but was able to work through multiple adjustments in a reasonable time without crashing or hanging up. But this was due to using an App specifically made for the ARM processor. I would confirm that your software of choice works on an ARM device before purchasing one, as without that you will most likely encounter issues with performance or even getting the app to work. We were unable to get most games to launch, MTG Arena would launch but the experience was less than desirable.Battery life was great, even on maximum brightness without any power savings changes I was able to get through a full 8-hour day on battery alone with plenty of battery left to watch a few episodes that night.Conclusion:Overall, the ASUS ProArt PZ13 Convertible Tablet has been an amazing upgrade to replace our old tablet, the OLED Screen is Beautiful, and the ARM based processor is powerful yet efficient enough to get through a whole workday on a single charge. The included Keyboard-Stand-Case really adds to the portability and versatility of the tablet. The biggest downside is that ASUS didn’t include the ASUS Pen 2.0 with the tablet. It is worth picking up the Stylus if you plan on doing any drawing or photo editing that requires fine details.I’ll be adding the ProArt PZ13 to my list of suggestions for any Artist, Editor, or Content Creator who wants a tablet that is portable, powerful, and color accurate but also acts like a computer when they need to do the business side of things. The only consideration will be whether their preferred Apps work on the ARM systems.

It's able to play some games but I would not call it a gaming machine. It's strengths lie in a different direction. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus. It includes a Neural Processor for AI development and performs very well as a business machine or general use use machine in addition to the artwork generation capabilities.The tablet portion is an AMOLED touchscreen and has a full HD resolution of 2880 X 1800. It's bright and responsive and I would have really liked to have tried out the stylus with this tablet but alas, this version doesn't come with one, and in fact if you want one, it will cost you an additional 100 bucks. But if you do decide to get the stylus, the tablet is already equipped with an integrated cloth strap style right on the case. You can use it as a tablet when it's removed from the included keyboard, or as a laptop when the keyboard is attached. The connection mechanism between the two is magnetic, so it's easy to guide the tablet onto the keyboard. The keyboard also functions as a durable case which is attached to the back of the tablet, also with a very strong magnet. It's got a great grippy feel and also has some texture to it which makes it very easy to grab and go with confidence.Photographers will appreciate not only the 1TB SSD but the built in SD card slot as well. It even comes with an SD to microSD adapter. Additionally, the machine has two USB 4 ports. USB 4 can transfer data at 40Gbps so it works well for large data transfers from say, a portable solid state drive. As far as memory is concerned it has 16GB. The GPU could have been updated and stands as an integrated Adreno. It's fine for more general purpose and video that doesn't move as fast as higher end games do. For content creators or virtual meeting people, there's a 5MP front facing IR camera (and mic) and also a respectable 13MP rear camera. The use possibilities are pretty endless for this machine.If you are a person who loves the idea of AI and likes to use it in things like creating artwork with the newest version of MS Paint that includes AI input and creation, this machine comes with it built in. You have a built in CoPilot key on the keyboard that brings up, you guessed it, the MS CoPilot chat window. There's also built in camera features that allow you (using AI) to select the amount of Bokeh blur behind you in meeting calls or helping to render you in a flattering way with lighting filters and facial augmentation. These are all presented by Microsoft as applications, but the machine is nicely set up for you to access these features easily. While using the AI is (for now, at least) more fun than a truly functional tool, you can see the direction things are going with this new technology.So aside from all these bonus features, there's still more! The keyboard is also backlit which I feel is an absolute necessity these days. It also has a huge track pad with easy to find left and right mouse buttons. The built in speakers are surprisingly good and can play movies at a good volume level with reasonable sound quality. It has Bluetooth for anyone who prefers to connect a pair of earbuds or headphones, and battery life that continues to impress me. I've had the machine about a week and after the initial charge, I've only topped it off once (and I was only down to about 60%). Granted, I haven't tried using it all day on just battery power, and obviously your results are going to vary depending on how you like to use it, but I found it to be dependable.I currently can only muster up a few minor gripes. The “door” that covers the SD card slot is a wonky thing that I'm never sure I'm using correctly, or about to break off. It also sits in front of the stylus holder, so I can only imagine how awkward it would be to use while storing the stylus. The other thing I find a bit annoying is the small clicking noise the keyboard makes from under my right palm. Every time I move my palm, it makes a low pitched clicking sound. Not sure what's actually making the sound but sounds internal. And finally, a 4K display resolution would have really been outstanding. I'm used to my machines having 4K displays so when you see one that's half that, you miss it. But for the money, you really can't beat the features this guy comes with. Like I said, minor gripes. The machine is a pleasure to use and for my purposes, I'll mostly be using it for it's small size, portability and healthy storage abilities. It will come in handy to download RAW photos from my S24 Ultra when we go on trips, and it has the accessibility most (if not all) people want and need. Plus the battery lasts a lot longer than I'll ever be away from a charging plug, which by the way, it does come with a hefty wall charger to USB-C plug. But I do wish it came with the stylus, I like to take notes and scribble quick drawings and the stylus would have also made it more fun to use the AI creation abilities in Paint. But a really nice machine overall!

The keyboard is a good typing experience—has good travel and three brightness levels of its backlit keys. There is a nice large but not too large trackpad. The foldout kickstand can be set to multiple angles for the best personal experience. The only downside to the keyboard and kickstand is their color, which in my opinion looks like a muddy, washed out shade of pea green. The keyboard is a good typing experience—has good travel and three brightness levels of its backlit keys. There is a nice large but not too large trackpad. The foldout kickstand can be set to multiple angles for the best personal experience. The only downside to the keyboard and kickstand is their color, which in my opinion looks like a muddy, washed out shade of pea green. But in terms of pure functionality they are superior to other similar setups that I have tried in the past.The ultimate in versatility comes in its ability to be either a laptop experience with the pre-installed Windows 11 (or other browsers you may prefer; I installed Google Chrome), or be a tablet experience. If you want to use the pre-installed Microsoft software they have a free trial but then you have to eventually pay, which is why I use Google Docs and Slides. The tablet experience is also excellent, with a good responsive touchscreen (and of course that awesome OLED screen!). Streaming movies, television, etc. is incredible because of the remarkable picture detail, colors, graphics, just everything. Even when simply going through everyday casual internet usage of emailing, shopping, surfing the web, reading, and more, the superior screen is so amazing. These aspects are what make this tablet/laptop hybrid the perfect combination of a work device and an entertainment device.The flexibility of being able to utilize the ASUS ProArt PZ13 as either a tablet or laptop is fully experienced with its ability to be used in three ways: the tablet wholly by itself, the tablet just with the kickstand, and then all three pieces together (the tablet on the kickstand with the keyboard attached). I really like that I can quickly pull the tablet off the kickstand and/or keyboard if I want to just relax, kick back, and stream some videos on the couch or in bed, and hold it in my hands or put it on a small pillow stand. Or if I want to prop up the tablet on the kitchen counter or a table, etc. but do not need the keyboard, then I can simply use the kickstand (and it’s great not to have the keyboard sticking out when I don’t need it). If I need to get some work done or need to type out an email, etc. then I can quickly put the tablet on its kickstand and snap it onto the keyboard. Any and all of these scenarios take literal seconds to set up because of the easy versatility and flexibility of the ProArt PZ13.Weight-wise…well, it is pretty hefty, but that is to be expected because of its nice big 13+ inch screen, and both the kickstand and keyboard add some more heft. But that is easily overlooked because of the overall superior aspects of the entire hybrid setup. I have tried similar setups in the past and they are not anywhere near as good an experience as this. Oh, and another nice aspect is the non-proprietary charging—it uses USB-C, of which I have many around the house. But it comes with a good 65W charging brick, which quickly charges the tablet (and the tablet holds a charge well and doesn’t drain too fast, even with heavy usage). Having the latest Snapdragon X Plus processor, 1TB of storage, 16GB RAM, and the sleek, classy-looking deep matte black color of the tablet…it all adds up to a great package.

This all comes in a 3 pound 5.5 oz, IP52 rated 13 inch package with a snap on keyboard and 2880x1800 OLED display.Connectivity: There are two USB4 type-C ports, one is under a protective cover that also houses an SD card reader that comes with an included Micro-SD card adapter in case you lost the one that came with your Micro-SD card. The downside is that the memory card sticks out of the reader far enough that you can not close the protective cover. You have to remove the SD card to close the cover. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack. You also get Wi-Fi 7 for those on the cutting edge. The PZ13 connected to my USB-C dock and was more than able to run my external 4K monitor without issue.In Geekbench, I got a single-core score of 2384, just slightly higher than the X Elite in my Surface 7 laptop and a multi-core core score of 10,710 which is reflective of the four fewer cores than the X Elite which I got 13,124. Also note, there is no difference in score between battery and being plugged in.Setup was a typical Windows setup and took about 15 minutes. There was no need for any major updates out of the box just yet, your mileage may vary.Keyboard: Unlike the Surface Pro, the PZ13 comes with a keyboard cover. This is a great feeling keyboard with lots of key travel. The touch pad however, is just ok. It is of the diving board variety but does have tap response. I would rather see a haptic touchpad. There are three shortcut zones for display brightness, volume and forward & rewind.. There is also a shortcut for the ASUS ScreenExpert which allows you to configure and manage your applications across different desktops and connected displays. All of these shortcuts worked as expected and duplicated Function Key actions. On the downside, the keyboard does not have any height/angle adjustments, it must sit flat on your desktop. It also must remain connected to work. There is no battery or bluetooth connectivity. My other criticism on the keyboard is the footprint it requires. Unlike a regular laptop where the display is connected to the keyboard by the hinge, this keyboard requires the magnetic kickstand on the back of the tablet to use. To better judge the distance, this takes the whole depth of a standard TV tray - and don’t even think of using this on your lap. The kickstand attaches to the rear of the device magnetically and provides infinite adjustment to angle the tablet and it goes almost flat providing an easier angle to write on.Display: The 16:10 OLED display is a thing of beauty. Not only do you get vibrant colors and inky blacks, you can customize the color to your needs or liking with the ASUS Splendid software. There is some reflectivity in the screen but it is viewable in direct sunlight.Cameras: There is a 5mp front facing IR camera that works great with Teams and Windows Hello is the fastest I’ve seen so far. A 13MP rear camera completes the set. I did notice quite a bit of shutter lag on the rear camera. It takes an OK photo but I see it getting used more for ingesting documents rather than that family holiday portrait. Another issue I found when holding the tablet in portrait mode to use the rear camera is that my hand covers the fan exhaust outlet.Pen: The PZ13 has support for pen input but unfortunately does not include one. The good thing here is that it uses MPP (Microsoft Pen Protocol) which means you do not need to use a proprietary device. I tested this out using a Microsoft Slim Pen 2 that I have and it worked as expected. Tracking was spot on and lag was insignificant. One thing I don’t care for is the pen storage. This seems like an afterthought by just gluing a cloth loop to the rear of the device. The Surface has a slot in the keyboard and the Apple Pencil attaches magnetically.Audio: The speakers on the PZ13 sound very good and they have support for Dolby Atmos. Volume is excellent and can be boosted via the MyASUS Smart Amplifier. The three-mic array sounded excellent on my teams calls and comes with AI noise cancellation and the ability to choose from single person or conference room settings.Platform: The Snapdragon chips utilize ARM architecture, similar to Apple’s M series chips. Just like Apple, applications that are written for this platform work best, however, Microsoft has designed their PRISM translation layer so that X86 applications will still run. Microsoft says this should be transparent but some programs like Adobe Premiere Pro which just became available on this platform do not run at their peak performance. Microsoft Office, which is compatible with ARM architecture runs flawlessly, as does Photoshop.Battery life: With general usage, I’ve been getting about 10-12 hours of use per charge and it takes about three hours to come back to a full charge. I did get a message in the ProArt Creator Hub when using another USB-C charger that it was a slower charger but it was rated higher than the included 65 watt charger. While the device did charge from it, the application did not recognize the device to be plugged in with it. The tablet acknowledges you when it's plugged in vs on battery but according to the scores on Geekbench, there is no difference between power sources.Thermals: You can choose from several operating modes to control performance vs battery life. These choices also control how frequently you may hear the cooling fan. When spinning at full speed, the fan is quite audible but not all that distracting.AI: Overall, I am not a fan of AI, I feel it is still in its infancy and is a solution looking for a problem. That said, Live translations is a really neat feature and it does a really good job of translating into english. The Windows Studio Effects is a great addition to my video when using Teams with two background blurs and various artistic effects. Rumor has it that the next build of Windows 24H2 will have updates to many of the AI programs as well.ASUS also includes a couple of AI applications. The Media Hub StoryCube is great for organizing your media library and the AI Noise Cancelation for removing background noises in meetings and calls. The ProArt Creator Hub is the application that allows you to customize the power and display settings and has a handy dashboard to show you memory and storage utilization. Also included is a free six-month trial for the CapCut video editor unfortunately, this was unusable due to crashing. From what I can see, it is very similar to Final Cut Pro in it's appearance and usage. Hopefully an update to the software will cure the crashing.Overall I really like the ASUS PZ13 but I still question the viability of Windows on a tablet. Unlike an iPad or phone where the OS is specific to tablet/finger use, Windows is a desktop OS built to be used with a mouse/trackpad. We are forcing ourselves to use these fantastic products in formats they were not designed for. Having the pen helps ease the transition from desktop to tablet. Like all new tech, I expect more applications to be written for the ARM/Windows platform so patients are in order here. The proof of this is Adobe. When the ARM/Snapdragon processors became available just a couple of months ago, Premiere Pro wouldnt even install. Now it runs via PRISM and they are working to make it fully ARM compatible. This is a rugged little tablet and I recommend it to anyone looking for a small device for travel or pen use.

I will get the Asus Pen 2.0 to go with my laptop so I can do more.I also like that I can connect it using either one of the two USB-C ports, an SD card slot and since it comes with a microSD card adapter I can use that too. As soon as I take a video or photo I can just insert the SD Card right on the laptop to start editing right away.I can connect it using the Wi-Fi 6 at my house, even a Wi-Fi 7 and via Bluetooth 5.2 so it offers a stable connection.Overall, the ASUS ProArt PZ13 is a fantastic choice for creators like me who need a powerful and portable device. It not only looks amazing, it offers great performance while being reliable. I can continue editing videos, photos and design all day long, there are so many other features like Dolby Atmos sound, 3 mic array, included applications, copilot+ and it can withstand extreme weather.
