I really love this motherboard. I've had friend saying that I could just buy cheaper ones and same cpu and gpu I want. But they were so wrong. As far as I've seen if u only put the cpu and gpu in order then anything goes for someone else but if u really want quality and accessibility to extra expansions and upgrades then even if is more expensive it works 100%.I have a case with 5 USB ( 4 type A and 1 type C ) and every cheaper motherboard wasn't able to use all 5 of them. ( BTW I'm a fan Asus ROG so when I say cheaper motherboards I mean the cheaper Asus ones xD )

The motherboard ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula has two strengths and pronounced features. And the second one is the Crosschill EK III proprietary cooling radiator, thanks to which this motherboard can be connected from the box to the general liquid cooling circuit. this board has all the bells & whistles you could ask for pcie gen 4 , wifi 6, USB 3.2 gen 2. 5G and Gigabit Ethernet from Aquantia and Intel EK vrm water block and so much more. I dropped in a Ryzen 3950X did a bio's update and off to the races. If there is a con it's the price (i don't consider this a con you get what you pay for) why pay $750 for the CPU only to pair it with a sub $175 mainboard

What can i say this motherboard is just excellent especially in a custom loop, ordered from scan om the friday and had the motherboard delivered saturday excellent service from scan also.Had the intel version of this motherboard a few years agao, thought i would try the amd version, definitely worth the money,so configurable beyond belief.Overall happy with my purchase and highly recommend this motherboard, dont think twice about buying this just buy it you wont be dissapointed.Well worth the money paid
I replaced my MSI X570 Unify with this board when MSI was apparently unable to fix the dreaded AMD USB disconnect issue even with their latest BIOS. I was able to reproduce the error with the Asus board - and then solve it with the latest flashed BIOS. I finally have a stable and fast system. The Formula is near the top of their line so has plenty of headroom for OC, though I don't indulge by much. A few hundred MHz without having to mess much with cooling or voltages is easily achieved. Very happy with this board!
The build quality of the motherboard is everything you'd expect from ASUS. It is unexpectedly heavy and really solidly built. It installed easily and fired up first time but there are a few things to mention.I have had WiFi drop-outs using the onboard Intel WiFi Adapter. I've scoured the online world for answers to no avail so I am waiting on Intel to release new drivers on the hope that the issue is resolved. I have disabled the onboard WiFi and I am using a USB Wifi Dongle instead. Zero connection dropouts with the dongle but every time I switch back to the on-board Intel, it happens usually within 10 minutes. My home wifi network is a 3-Node Google Mesh which doesn't support the new 'ax' standard. The other thing to mention relates to liquid cooling. My home wifi network is a 3-Node Google Mesh which doesn't support the new 'ax' standard. The other thing to mention relates to liquid cooling. I have a custom liquid cooling loop which previously flowed from Reservoir CPU Motherboard Radiator Reservoir. With the water-block installed there wasn't enough distance between the fixture on the water block and the fixture to the left of the CPU - as I turned the fixtures they'd actually touch. In the end I modified my loop to go from the Reservoir Motherboard CPU Radiator Reservoir.Pictures attached to show the close proximity of the water block fixture and the lower of the motherboard fixtures. If you plan to build a custom loop then keep this in mind - it's not a deal breaker - just something that requires thought during design. In closing the motherboard is rock solid and other than the issue with the Intel WiFi Adapter, it does absolutely everything that I'd expect from a board in this price range.I have a Ryzen 9 3950X CPU installed and 64GB of RAM.
The OLED live dash was broken, so I sent the mobo back for a replacement. It's been almost a month now since they've received my defective product. No refund or replacement has been sent. I guess it's just my COVID-19 luck...time to check out the local stores.
I love this thing. If your budget allows it for a high end system you won't be disappointed. Benchmarks in the 99th percentile of all systems/components with 3950X and RX5700XT.
...Armoury Crate. The motherboard was part of my second ASUS pc build. I got prompted their RGB software needed to be updated, and I made the mistake of selecting yes (and not setting a restore point). The system tried to install their 'beta' software, and would not finish installation without getting errors. Being as how I went with all ASUS components, I am now left with a non-lit up keyboard, MB that reverted to default colors, ASUS AIO cooler, etc.I went to my last ASUS built pc to copy the hopefully working .exe file over, but it just tries to download their current beta version. Part of me should probably thank them as I almost bought one of their RGB power supplies and a gaming laptop (driven by Armoury Crate), prior to this happening.I was a fan up until this point. I hope I am in the minority of having these issues, and you all have better luck. The hardware may be great, but the software is horrible. Moving on to a different brand.
faster, stable, best motherboard ever. I have with 5800x and 32gb trident z 3600 rgb. just plug and play, this motherboard is a beast. all auto and the cpu run 4800mhz, memory 3600mhz. I have watercooling system block velocity with 360 radiator. some times touch 90*C. I read about it, and the conclusion is a problem with AMD agesa. AMD working that solution, however, some forums say there is no a problem.I have two solutions, while AMD solves. first:in the bios, in the amd overclocking / precision boost overdrive / advanced menu. disable pbo limits. then in curve optimizer = all cores, in the same menu, curve optimizer sign (negative) optimizer magnitude, you can place between 12 to 30, the higher value you place, the less voltage and clock speed you will have, so ... Morefaster, stable, best motherboard ever.
