Well packaged with everything one can expect from ASUS. I haven't powered up yet as still building, but this board is the mobo to allow one to play with the settings until one is fully satisfied. I'm hoping for 10+ years out of this product like my previous ASUS boards.

This is an excellent motherboard, let down by the excessive price. It is, however, future-proof for a number of years, so in that light maybe there is some value to be had. The feature set is excellent and utilizes very well the latest connectivity and memory technology.

Quality is great. At first I thought it would come with a backplate due to the price but I guess not.Only other minus is no 10g lan but it's not a deal breaker for me. This has everything and more plus 2 thunderbolt 4 ports if you need them.Overall the reason I went with AMD is because before I was on a 4970k and this has an upgrade path which is great a few years down the line

A Great Motherboard With A Vast Amount Of Features

Asus ROG Crosshair X670E HeroThis motherboard is for thee enthusiast overclocker. It is also one of the nicest motherboards I have ever owned but just lacks the 5 or 10g lan which can be found in other similar priced boards. AM5 Motherboards has launch Ram Problems
22 November 2022

Actually my order delivery had a few slight problems, Not that I mind the delivery box being upside-down for the cpu and the motherboard, If it's got enough bubble wrap then it should be okay, The problem with the Rog X670e Hero was it was slightly damaged on one of the ram slots where the silver retention pin is, Not that it caused a problem where the ram wouldn't slot in, However you don't expect it when you just spent £1350 on a brand new item,This is where going to a new Amd Platform has a few problems for early adopters, With AM5 motherboards the ram has to go through a memory timing training and when you put in 128gb of ram well you run into a massive issue,It's meant to be a 5 minute post for the first time to get to the bios, This did not happen it had a ... MoreActually my order delivery had a few slight problems, Not that I mind the delivery box being upside-down for the cpu and the motherboard, If it's got enough bubble wrap then it should be okay, The problem with the Rog X670e Hero was it was slightly damaged on one of the ram slots where the silver retention pin is, Not that it caused a problem where the ram wouldn't slot in, However you don't expect it when you just spent £1350 on a brand new item,This is where going to a new Amd Platform has a few problems for early adopters, With AM5 motherboards the ram has to go through a memory timing training and when you put in 128gb of ram well you run into a massive issue,It's meant to be a 5 minute post for the first time to get to the bios, This did not happen it had a C5 code on the motherboard itself that was on for 49 minutes then went a code 15 that means it's training the ram to get it's best timings...that took 1 hour and 11 minutes,After installing windows 11 and it's mandatory restart it was another long boot this time 53 minutes, Then I went to the Asus website to download the latest bios hopeing it would fix the long post times, It did however with the latest bios the XMP profile for ram does not show up. You can either manually put in your ram speed for mine it was 5600mhz or just select Auto,No matter what you chose you will again have a long first boot however after it's a 15 to 20 seconds boot, But this is where the major inconvenient problems begin. After updating the bios twice the ram never goes to it's full speed my 128gb 5600mhz ram only goes to either 3600mhz or 4800mhz,At first I thought my XMP Kingston FURY Beast Ram was faulty, So I bought 64gb of DDR5 6000mhz amd expo ram,Even that has the same problem so it's definitely a bios problem on AM5 because most of forum websites for msi and asus have people complaining of the same issues I'm having,When I first installed Windows 11 my 128gb of ram was running at full speed at 5600mhz after my first bios update it only ram at 4800mhz and the latest bios update from 2 days ago now it will only run at 3600mhz,Other than these slight issues the motherboard is great build quality, The 2x USB 40gbs ports are the only reason why I bought this in the first place ( I can confirm that the write speed was 3800mbs)The Wifi6 on the board was very useful even without attaching the antennas I had full strength even though the pc was in the living room and the Virgin Hub 5 upstairs,The only major downside is the bios first boot times the more ram you have the longer it takes, When you update the bios again it's a long boot time once again as the ram is being trained,These New Asus Bios update fix some of the problems but they also being new issues such as making ram 2000mhz slower,Even when you chose in the bios ram settings to run at 5600mhz manually again you have a 40+ minute wait but I've never got it to work as you get to a post screen that states the system will restart the ram to a new setting for " stability" then you back to alot slower speed,Until Asus and other motherboard manufacturers of AM5 have fixed all the bugs then maybe avoid for the next few months,Now to the Amd 7950xIt has 16 cores that is a render beast,If you are gaming then the 8 or 12 core is all you would need, The 16 core is only really useful if you are streaming your games in 4k 60fps and having a 4k video of yourself,If you don't stream and don't do video editing and only want to game get yourself the 8 or 12 core versions instead,AM5 cpus have a 90c limit yes that's hot much like the Pentium 4 was many years ago,The high heat of AM5 may seem dangerous but amd say it's meant to be that way so don't worry, You may have to manually chose your cpu aio to a set rpm limit because randomly my Corsair h150i just span up to 1800rpm even though I'm on a desktop doing nothing,After I set my Aio to be at 650rpm for all three fans then it wasn't a problem of random jet engines sounds,For the RDNA 2 igpu on the 7950x it won't play triple a games from today at 4k 60fps but it does work at 4k 60fps for older games like left 4 dead 2 and games from that era,Think of it as an emergency gpu if your main pcie gpu is in for rma,To summarise,The X670E HERO is a great board with 2x 40gbs usb4 ports, WiFi 6e, Very useful,It's only letdown by the Bios updates that fix some problems but cause others such as making your ram run at a much slower speed not matter if you use xmp ram or amd xpo,That's the problem with AM5 motherboards currently, Early adopters problems for the first few months,

Average board
3 January 2023

Average board that struggles to get decent benchmark scores and performance vs much cheaper AM5 boards. I honestly regret what I paid for this thing. To top things off, ASUS customer service are terrible. It's the last ASUS board I'll be buying, after 2 decades of using them.Scan have done nothing wrong here by the way, usual great service from them.

Good Solid Motherboard
21 October 2022

Very nice motherboard. Solidly built and easy to install. Includes many USB ports and M.2 slots. A lot of options available for tweaking in the BIOS, and easy recovery with an external clear CMOS button. I had some initial issues with EXPO RAM profiles, but a BIOS update fixed the stability.

Great motherboard
27 April 2023

This motherboard looks and feels well built and comes with many features which makes this the board to have. I think it's a nice board and it has all the features I would need but the price of motherboards nowadays is a joke. I remember when I purchased my Asus Rog Maximus XI Hero which is part of the same line as the Crosshair Hero and it only cost me £280 brand new. In 2023 I'm looking to pay more than double that for practically the same board I had 4 years ago. The only gripe I have about this specific board is the fact it does not come with the nice steel backplate that the Asus ROG Maximus z790 Hero board comes with, which is a shame considering I'm paying the same price; the only difference being it's an AMD board not Intel. The amount of choice available for the AM5 boards was practically none compared to the z790 line-up and the only other board that was worth considering was the x670E-E Gaming Wi-Fi which was only £100 cheaper and looked worse in terms of looks. I would have gone with Intel but the 13900k is just too hot compared to the 7800X3D.
