I'm disappointed.I bought this router last Saturday. I have a great deal of experience with Asus Routers and have enjoyed a lot of good luck with them. I decided to splurge on this one as I have a large home and my kids both like to game a lot. I hook up the AX11000 an get it all connected. I setup my SSID's and BOOM I'm online. I login into the router settings page and there is a flashing icon telling me to upgrade the firmware, so I did and upgraded to the latest firmware. I have upgraded the firmware on numerous Asus routers over the years and never had any problems. As soon as I upgraded the AX11000 firmware the 2.4 Ghz network was totally unstable. None of my smart home devices that depend on 2.4 Ghz to run no longer could connect. I troubleshooted this ... MoreI'm disappointed.I bought this router last Saturday. None of my smart home devices that depend on 2.4 Ghz to run no longer could connect. I troubleshooted this online for and tinkered with the router settings for 8 hours and still couldn't fix the problem. I did a factory reset and 2.4 Ghz was still horrible, So I hooked back up my older and slower Asus RTAC86U router and all my smart home devices worked flawlessly again. The next day I decided to exchange the AX11000 for a new one. (Thank you Jess). I thought it could be a hardware issue.I get home and connect the new exchanged AX11000 and the 2.4 Ghz works on this one. I set it all up and it runs flawlessly for two days. I kick myself in the butt for doing this, but I decided to again upgrade the firmware. As soon as it was completed 2.4 ghz was unusable again. What a joke. Again, I tried everything I could think of to make it stable, but it was terrible. So after 4 days of tinkering with a $500 router I gave up and returned it. I'm sad about it because both the 5Ghz bands were incredible and I would have loved to keep it! I loved the speed! But I needed a stable 2.4 Ghz band to run my smart home properly with no option to connect certain smart home devices to 5ghz. So it sucks. So bottom line if you decide to purchase this router, do NOT upgrade the firmware! I know that sounds crazy, but it burned me twice.Special thanks goes out to manager Jess at the north Whitby Staples location, she was great to me and returned the router with a smile! She delivered great customer service and I will absolutely buy from this store again in the future!

The GT AX1 1000 was just what I needed to distribute new fiber optic cable service in my home. It’s positioned in a 3rd floor room of my three-story home with nine foot ceilings. Signal strength is good throughout the home, and even the backyard, during most times of day. (I occasionally get some re-buffering on the TV in the lower level during especially busy times of day.) Adding another ASUS router in the lower level should solve that problem, and the addition sounds like a seamless plug and play using the AiMesh feature. I love the Tri-band (one 2.4GHz + two 5Ghz bands) feature, and have my unit configured to auto-select the band with the least amount of traffic for all connected wireless devices/clients. I wanted a WiFi 6 router, to accommodate that standard for many newer devices/clients, and the GT-AX fits that bill. The unit is futuristic-looking even though the 8 external antennas look weird (picture an upside down spider). The Aura RGB feature illuminates the symbol on the top with changing lights, a cool feature since it’s not located in a room where I sleep. Accessing the router remotely with a mobile device is a pleasure, allowing for settings and features adjustments on a well-designed, intuitively laid-out website. The purchase of this ASUS router was a good choice, and I’d make that choice again.

Bought this router to replace the modem/router combo we had through cable company. Our smart devices had such trouble that we needed to purchase a wifi repeater just so they'd stop dropping signal or be able to control them.Immediately upon switching, the ASUS gave no signal issues and I can walk to the end of my driveway (roughly ~80ft) and still have great signal. We swapped to fiber, when it became available, and direct connections are as close to the GBit speed and wifi is obviously less but still quality as you would expect from a wireless signal. Also, being able to have 2, 2.4Ghz and 1, 5Ghz channel allows us to keep our smart devices on one band, and our personal devices on the other two. Also had a parkouring kitten break off one of the antenna's, but ... MoreBought this router to replace the modem/router combo we had through cable company. I've owned several ASUS routers. Bought this one to replace an RT-AC88U where have the wired ports stopped working. I think I'm pretty much done with ASUS products at this point and can't recommend them at all. This router regularly (sometimes a couple times a day, sometimes a couple times a week) just stops working. I know it's not just my phone and computer because my SimpliSafe hub also tells me that it's lost WiFi.It usually works again after being turned off and on again. Sometimes I have to reset the modem as well (Sonic fiber). I scheduled the router to restart itself every night which made the issue go from a daily problem to a weekly problem. I thought by now the firmware would improve enough that the issue would just go away. It hasn't and I've stayed current with every firmware upgrade.Tried getting support for ASUS (they just tell you to upgrade the firmware and then say go to BestBuy). I give up!Do not buy this router. I suggest not buying any ASUS products any more in general. I have several but I'm done now.
I have two GT-AX11000 routers in an AIMesh configuration with a CAT6 backhaul. The wired backhaul keeps 100% of the wireless bandwidth available for wireless devices. The mesh network fills in a couple of weird dead spots that I had (happened with other routers too) and also allows for hard-wired connections for my entertainment center downstairs and in my office upstairs. I have a 600Mbps Comcast connection that regularly gets between 8-900Mbps. My wireless devices are getting right at the same speeds as the wired desktops. My home is a 2500 square foot two-story on a third acre lot and I have solid 5GHz WiFi 6 coverage in every corner of my house and yard.I was amazed at how many devices we have on or network when I counted them up. (which is easy to do in the router's interface) Between TVs, phones, pads, laptops, Roku/Fire sticks, multiple Alexas, Ring devices, Apple watch, DVD/BlueRay - You get the idea... they really add up! We will often have streaming on multiple devices, browsing and gaming all at the same time and these routers handle it without a glitch.TBH - I know that the setup I have is overkill and I could have built out a solid network for a lot cheaper but it happened in stages and just grew into what it is. I really wrestled with buying the second AX11000 when I knew that other, less expensive, Asus routers would have worked just fine. Now that it's done however - I couldn't be happier with the performance and feel good about having a network which will last well in to the future
It may look creepy like a spider, or just plain stupid, but it gets the job done! I purchased this a couple years ago because the built in wifi that is in my internet provider's modem is just garbage. This router is a tank. I get 2.4 signal all over my house, and even most of it is covered with the 5ghz band as well. And we have solid concrete cinder block walls behind all our drywall. No issue with signal. My internet speed is 1gigabit down and 50 megabit up. On 2.4 with solid signal I can usually get 120megbit down and the full 5 up without issues. On 5ghz I can get over 350 megabit down if I am within solid signal range. When hard wired to it, I have no issue with max speeds on all fronts.I have an android phone, and downloaded the app to control this router ... MoreIt may look creepy like a spider, or just plain stupid, but it gets the job done! When hard wired to it, I have no issue with max speeds on all fronts.I have an android phone, and downloaded the app to control this router from it, and it is packed with great features. From the app, I can tunr on or off any of the 3 wifi attenas, I can block internet access to any device that is connected to it, and I can even limit how much time a certain device gets internet access,Another useful feature is, you can connect any device, and the assign it to a specific user, So if you have a house full of people who all have devices connected, you can make user profiles and assign the devices to the specific user that uses that device. So when little Johnny comes home to play video games while he chats on his phone, but didn't take out the trash, you can block all his devices from internet access all at once by turning off access to his profile. Just a few useful features for those with big families with several devices. These are just a few solid features of this router, It has gotten several firmware updates that have improved it's security and performance as well. Just make sure you do a full power down for at least 30 seconds and then do a full reboot. Some of the firmware updates have crippled my upload speed until I take this step,Overall, fantastic router! Been using it for over 3 years now!

This router was supposed to be top of the line when I bought it in 2020. The signal has been decent, but it has been plagued with problems that progressively get worse over time. One feature I liked was being able to use the parental time block feature to shut the router off at specific times of the day on the kids devices. It worked like a champ for a few months and then randomly deleted all the ip addresses for the kids devices (which were many!)After re-adding all the devices for the 3rd time, they deleted again. After that stranger things began happening. When I would log into the router from my computer or phone, etc. everything turned into japanese. I don't know japanese, so I had to follow some screenshots to turn it back to english.Fast forward another month, the router turned off completely. I restarted it and all our smart devices (50+) are working with the unit. however now when I try to log into the router, not only am I being japanese again, it doesn't recognize my login anymore. I tried the factory login and still nothing. I called Asus, and after waiting on hold for 20+minutes, they tell me it is out of warranty, so they told me to go to their website and use the chat feature. I used the chat feature, and they proceed to tell me I need to do a factory reset. Which means I have to set up a whole new network SSID and reprogram 50+ devices to work with the router again! There is no guarantee this won't happen again. so I am on the fence about restarting the modem since things are still working. I just can't access the settings in the modem. If I must reset, I will purchase a new modem and throw this one away as no one should have to use this piece of garbage!I only bought this modem for the gaming reliability for one of the kids. I should have stuck with my old reliable Apple router literally the most reliable router I have ever owned. I have also owned netgear. other than the constant connection issues with it I never had a settings issue.Don't even get me started on the ASUS laptop I bought a few years ago! Asus sucks.
In the world of Wi-Fi 6e routers, the GT-AX11000 still has a lot to offer. It has very competitive speeds with even the newest routers and enough features to keep even the most tech savvy individuals satisfied.I haven’t had a single disconnect since buying the GT-AX11000 and all of my devices are able to get full signal in all corners of my house. I also appreciate the second 5ghz channel: it can serve as a dedicated link for wireless VR gaming or as a dedicated wireless backhaul for future upgrades with AIMesh.I have very little to complain about regarding this router. It is a little bit big, so it takes up a decent amount of space. It’s customizability and features could also be overwhelming to some.
