This unit replaced an aging RT-AC68U node in AIMesh configuration that was rock-solid, but starting to show it's age in terms of throughput. The AX-5400's work pretty well but I will say with the 160Mhz channels, the range is not as good as the AC's 80Mhz channel. The router's packet processing speed is good and the LACP bonding support on the Docsis interface is a nice upgrade for those with Comcast Downlink > 1Gbps. For some reason, some of my hosts seem to become disassociated over time and require re-connection (maybe every couple weeks). Not sure if this is firmware or something else in the wireless configuration. The RGB is ok - it's just a light band on the face of the unit. The top of the unit is reflective, but there aren't any lights. There is no wall-mount option for this model and it can't be turned on it's side so it takes up a bit more surface space than the older units that could be tilted on their side or wall-mounted.

I had a Huawei 5G CPE PRO which also supports WIFI 6 and 1Gbps internet connection at home. However, my laptop and phones only get around 250Mbps in speed tests and latency is too high for gaming, so I decided to change the WIFI router.I was deciding between a Wifi 6E and Wifi 6 routers but I ended up choosing Wifi 6 because none of my devices currently support Wifi 6E so that would be just a waste of money. This Asus TUF-AX5400 fits perfectly for my need. Real speed at home for wifi usually > 700Mbps and more, 3 times compared what I got before. Latency is also halved. I could even set separate VPN profile for each device. I no longer have any issue with internet speed and latency. The admin interface is also 10/10 with many features and not locked behind ... MoreI had a Huawei 5G CPE PRO which also supports WIFI 6 and 1Gbps internet connection at home. I bought this router after doing some research to replace my 6 year old NightHawk which began to lagged in WIFI. This unit was easy to setup and after connecting to my Fiber Optic modem, this unit exceeded my expectations to performance. The speeds on Ethernet cable and WIFI are identical throughout our 2000 sq foot home. With our family gatherings and everyone's smartphones, we should have seamless operating conditions.

I purchased the Ausus RT-AX82U AX5400 when my 5 yr old Linksys bit the dust. Was thinking of another Linksys, but my youngest son recommended I go with Asus. He actually chose the RT-AX82U AX5400 for me to purchase and after a couple of weeks of use, can say I am very, very happy with the router. It was fairly easy to set up and has been working effortlessly since installation. Have had no problems or blips and it gives a good strong signal throughout the entire house. I'm so glad I went with the Asus RT-AX82U AX5400 router! A very good product!
This router is easy straight forward to set up. You will need a modem as well so be sure you have one. The instructions are easy to read and understand which is sometimes hard with instructions. I had this up and running in about 30 mins. I had to turn off my old wifi so it could be ran through this one. I have a big family of 6 kids and my wife so you can imagine how many things use wifi. We have at least 4 gaming systems along with my pc and tablets and phones that use the wifi. This router held up like a champ and had no interruptions. The speed was flying. I do like the blue color light on it as well as it matches my gaming stuff so that is a plus. I have a 2 story house and the range of the wifi reaches everywhere even in the neighbors back yard. That is some range. If you are in the market for a top of the line router then this is for you.
2 year warranty: 14 months in, the RT AX3000 router failed, cost me over $150 in lost wages due to downtime. Warranty coverage - good, sent in, I had to pay for shipping. They informed me couldn't fix it. And what do they send me? It says refurbished. The serial number label is all sticky and the unit misses a leg-rubber, as if that isn't something they could find the time and effort to at least squeeze in. You cost me money. At least send me a brand new Router. I had to buy a new one since I can't have down-time, the 2 weeks you had the router. Rubbing it in, I didn't buy an Asus for replacement.
I actually purchased this router from Newegg for about 200 bucks a few months back. It was easy to set up and I haven't had any problems with speed, ping, losing clients, etc. In fact, the download speeds on my Xbox are better than ever. So far so good. I was skeptical about these reviews written by people who got this thing for free or cheap but they may be telling the truth since I actually paid for mine and I like it. You can probably find something with similar specs for cheaper but after trying several other brands I am firmly in the Asus camp. If you're ever tempted by a D-Link just say no. I don't care if it's free, it will be more trouble than it's worth.
This router was really easy to set up - just plugged it into my cable modem, then opened the web page for the router. It walks you through the basic settings to configure your wifi network, then you're pretty much done if you want. There's also a mobile app you can use, but I've mainly been using the web interface from my PC.With everything including the kitchen sink wanting to get online (yep, the kitchen faucet accepts commands from Alexa or Google), my old router was running into issues with a limit on the number of concurrent devices it would allow on the wifi network. With smart TVs, smart sockets, smart speakers, cell phones, laptops, tablets, kindles, doorbell, garage door openers, it's surprising how quickly the number ticks up. With smart TVs, smart sockets, smart speakers, cell phones, laptops, tablets, kindles, doorbell, garage door openers, it's surprising how quickly the number ticks up. The ASUS router page is showing I currently have 38 devices connected, and does a pretty good job of identifying them all, and gives me control to temporarily block individual devices. The interface is fast and responsive. My old non-ASUS router also provided a mobile app, but would frequently decide it couldn't show me any devices on the network, depending on which way the wind was blowing. The ASUS offering has been a breath of fresh air. We're pretty heavy internet users in our household, with two tween/teen kids who are forever streaming video from Youtube or Twitch. We also subscribe to YoutubeTV, so if there's anyone watching TV, it's coming through this router. We haven't experienced any problems with streams buffering or dropping quality.I say "pretty much done if you want", because there's a ton of features this router provides if you want to dive in further. Aimed at gamers, you can quickly set it up to prioritize certain computers or mobile devices. I haven't tried this yet, as we just haven't needed to - our connection has been just fine - but It may be useful to those with more limited bandwidth. There are options to set up shared access to a printer or storage via a usb connection to the router. It appears you can configure it to share files over the internet, or have the router download to the storage device without needing a computer to be running. There are also considerable logging and traffic monitoring tools, so you can see what device is using what amount of data, and where that data is going or coming from.Wifi range is good, nothing spectacular. It's about the same as my old router. It gives good coverage throughout the house, but outside it's a little patchy. Nothing unexpected, though. I have a cheap extender relaying wifi to the back yard. I did notice I my PC subwoofer was picking up some interference from it, so I've had to move these devices a couple of feet further apart.
Fast, reliable and has good security enhancement features as well as parental controls. Through the mobile app, it supports family profiles making it easy to parental control multiple devices with single clicks. We are using it in an ASUS AI mesh configuration and the WIFI link speed between the routers is beyond my expectation. The WIFI coverage is excellent.
