I had been searching for a high end hdmi 2.1 compatible tv for my Xbox Series X for a while. The LG C1 Oleds were highly recommended but I needed something a little smaller than the 48” that LG offered. I stumbled upon this device while searching and the specs were excellent and the right size for my setup: 43”. I would have preferred the specific Xbox edition but I could not find that unit anywhere. Best Buy price matched with a competitor and had it to me in 4 days. Setup was super easy….basically plug and play out of the box. Color, contrast, clarity, and frame rate are exemplary. I highly recommend this monitor.

The monitor frequently turned off and had loud crackling noises behind the screen. Ghosting is expected with VA panels but this one was so ridiculously bad that it gave me motion sickness. No settings could reduce it to a tolerable level. The pixel layout is also BGR which isn't the best for text, but cleartype helps a bit. The packaging for it was pretty great though. Lots of foam to keep it safe and the monitor comes with the legs attached too which is convenient. I probably got a faulty one out the gate, but would still recommend the Aorus FV43U or the LG C1 48" over this. I went with the FV43U which has minimal ghosting, HDR1000 (proper brightness), and is $300 cheaper. It's also recommended that you have a desk with enough depth to keep the monitor 2+ feet away ... MoreThe monitor frequently turned off and had loud crackling noises behind the screen. 4K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate would provide the extraordinary gaming experience, especially when you play cinematic games, the big screen gives you the scene in front. A bad point is the panel is VA, so ghosting is a big problem. In bright scenes, ghosting is ok, but it becomes more serious in darker scenes. In general, all other features are good.

I've owned this monitor for several months and while it's not my main display, I do appreciate the flexibility it provides to fill in the gaps that comes with owning a 32:9 ratio monitor like the Samsung Neo G9. This ASUS ROG Strix is not perfect but if you dissect any monitor these days you'll find flaws whether that's the fault of the manufacturer or limits of the technology currently available. My main issue with the unit I have is that it will turn itself on by itself after I turn it off the monitors to go to bed, and in fairness ASUS was very polite and quick to offer to provide warranty service on it. However they wanted me to ultimately send it back to them, and after weighing out the hassle of unmounting it, finding a box that will safely ship it in (the box ... MoreI've owned this monitor for several months and while it's not my main display, I do appreciate the flexibility it provides to fill in the gaps that comes with owning a 32:9 ratio monitor like the Samsung Neo G9. My main issue with the unit I have is that it will turn itself on by itself after I turn it off the monitors to go to bed, and in fairness ASUS was very polite and quick to offer to provide warranty service on it. However they wanted me to ultimately send it back to them, and after weighing out the hassle of unmounting it, finding a box that will safely ship it in (the box that comes with this monitor is HUGE and unfortunately I disposed of mine), and then being without the monitor for that period of time, I ended up deciding to just shut off the PC at night completely instead. Another small almost nit-picky complaint I have is the glow of the mouse cursor when moving it across a black or very dark scene on the screen. So overall very minor inconveniences for an otherwise excellent display. Where this monitor truly shines is when you play on a Xbox Series X or the PS5. The wider Samsung display with the unusual resolution is not the perfect fit where-as this display will run everything smoothly and natively at 4K. It's also really great at consuming other 4K content such as streaming YouTube or Netflix. A cheaper route would be just to get a 43" TV but for me I wanted a PC monitor instead. It ticks all the boxes for my purposes and if you're looking for a great 43" gaming monitor it could tick all of yours too!
I have been waiting on this monitor since it was announced at CES 2021. After several delays, I was finally able to get one. I’ve had the monitor for a little over a week now and it’s been amazing. It compliments my high end PC and PS5 perfectly. Sure it’s not HDR1000+ or have FALD, but I’m not complaining since it cost 1/3 the price as the X model. Also, some people have been put off by certain reviewers saying the “rEsPoNsE tImEs ArE sLoW”… no. The monitors overdrive modes take care of that perfectly. The average gamer wont notice anyway and you would need a microscope to even see any ghosting. If your looking for a 32” 4K monitor that will also compliment your new console with HDMI 2.1, look no further. I haven’t had any major issues with it yet. I will say that the halo effect is VERY noticeable. So if your someone who really doesn’t like blooming around white or lighter objects or find it distracting, you might want to hold off for better 2.1 monitors to release. There are better options coming but the prices are going to be considerably more compared to this one.
This is my first 4k monitor and it impressed me right away. I guess i had to see to believe. The range of features is excellent and the default color settings look great. From what I understand, all IPS monitors suffer from backlight bleed and this is no different but i consider it minimal and not noticeable in action. Ymmv on this, some people have a lower tolerance for this sort of thing. Everything worked right out of the box and gsync is a miraculous invention. The build quality is nice, it feels like a premium product. For reference, i bought the recently released gigabyte m32u and put them side by side. I wanted to like the gigabyte better because it's 32" and has HDMI 2.1, but i couldn't deny the overall better image quality and color accuracy of the ROG. And the backlight bleed on the gigabyte was noticeable and distracting. I figure most people, like me, will be torn between the xg27uqr and the m32u because of HDMI 2.1 (and the larger screen) If you're desperate for a sub $1000 4k monitor with 2.1, then the gigabyte will satisfy you i think. The simple fact is i enjoyed looking at the xg27uqr more, and is that not what a monitor is for?
This is one of my very few negative reviews. This monitor has/had multiple issues from the start. Number one, constant and incessant flickering. I can't recall one game, one application, or any combination of settings that this monitor didnt flicker.... and DONT think about switching inputs when you have a pressing need... you make sandwich faster than this could swap inputs. Very Frustrating. Picture quality was ok at best, backside input ports are difficult to access, HDR is sub-par... the list goes on. Oh, did I mention that it failed within 60 days? Yeah, that is an issue too. I own 3 of previous gen ROG 43" for my racing sim and have been awesome but this newer 144Hz variant is terrrible.
I drove 2.5 hours to the closest micro center in Dallas tx to look for a new 4k high refresh rate monitor to put my nvidia rtx 3090 to work. I spent a few hours browsing the store checking out different monitors in person & asking the employees questions about each one. I eventually settled on this one despite the relatively low review score figuring (correctly) that the negative reviews were either from tech illiterate's or people dissatisfied with how their item arrived after shipping (which is why I chose to spend the day picking it up in person.) That one review about text appearing blurry or really small clearly came from someone who didn't know you aren't supposed to run large 4k monitors at 100% scale in windows display settings (it looks perfectly normal at ... MoreI drove 2.5 hours to the closest micro center in Dallas tx to look for a new 4k high refresh rate monitor to put my nvidia rtx 3090 to work. That one review about text appearing blurry or really small clearly came from someone who didn't know you aren't supposed to run large 4k monitors at 100% scale in windows display settings (it looks perfectly normal at 200%, see attached photos). All in all I love it. I use it primarily for gaming but I have no problem doing regular work on it either. I went through the new destiny 2 witch queen expansion on this over the past month at max settings with a steady 120ish frame rate smooth as butter. As I said I felt that this was a significant enough investment that I needed to take the day to go get it in person (and inspect it for damage while at the store so as to not waste time with a lengthy return process). No complaints.
Works great with xbox series x/s! Extremely fast with full 4K experience. Lots of extras including built in speakers, cross hair option, remote control and 8k gold hdmi 2.1 cable. Included stand is very sturdy. Requires an Amazon VESA wall mount that will support more than 40 lbs if you want to wall mount. If you want to game in 4K and have a screen size that doubles as a 4K HDR TV this is the monitor I would recommend. Not to big but big enough toenjoy a crystal clear picture.
Not a Pro or a Con but something to be aware of: this does not use a standard monitor plug and does not have an internal power supply. It has an external power brick with a fairly long cord up to a barrel plug for the monitor and a non standard 3 barrel plug from the brick to a grounded plug to the wall. If you want a bright/vibrant/fast and sharp 4k high refresh rate monitor I would recommend this, the price is a little high but the panel I got is fantastic and feels worth the price to me. I do want to make it known I came from 3 generations of different 1080p monitors prior to this. I started with a $600 BenQ TN panel, then jumped to a $400 Asus TN panel then to a $300 MSI VA panel (the price difference is due to the technology maturing) All of the monitors I used ... MoreNot a Pro or a Con but something to be aware of: this does not use a standard monitor plug and does not have an internal power supply. With my older Asus and MSI monitors it did not offer true 144hz they had to use overdrive and overclocking to hit 144hz without ghosting and overdrive artifacts. This monitor hits 144hz with no issues and could probably overclock higher (not really worth it personally because I wont hit the 144hz limit @ 4K) Side note that I appreciate: it comes with non keyed DP and HDMI cables.
