I've been super happy with my trusty old RT-AC3100. This BE-88U was supposed to bring me to WiFi7 and replace old router.What a abysmal device this is. System log is running wild with constantly crashing dnsmasq, and yea you guessed it DNS works iffy, if not at all. Samsung galaxy S24 Ultra is not compatible with the station if wifi7 options like WMM turned on, it ca not even connect! Download speed over s24 is around 8Mbps (wired clients run 226Mbs). Wifi 7! That's worse than 24 years old wifi! Router is crashing every now and then, smart connect makes devices stuck in limbo looping between 2g/5g. Ipsec VPN implementation is totally booked, they forgot to add static route! Client can connect to router but not to Lan, nor internet :) omg! Pptp,openvpn all work ... I had an ASUS router already so this was so easy to set up. The router runs cooler than the ac88u it replaces and so much faster. Still testing wifi but seems a little better. Lots of ways to change configurations in the software. 4years trouble free usage on the 88U so expecting the same from this one.

Easy to setup for Automatic IP service providers. No special settings needed to be adjusted and I'm getting very fast download speeds compared to my previous wifi6 router. Speeds coming down at 12MB per second total for multiple simultaneous downloads on Australian NBN on standard 100Mbps service
If upgrading from an rt-ac8x, this is a sure bet.Load your old router’s config file an you‘re ready to go.Pro Guest NW support with VLANs help segment the network further.The addition of 8 LAN ports (4, up to 2.5 Gps) is very welcome!
This router is fantastic, with plenty of ports and great features. While it's not tri-band or quad-band, I like its design and that it's ready for WiFi 7. It has good parental controls, a guest WiFi toggle, and gaming modes to prioritize your network. My only gripe is that I'm using the 2.5GbE WAN/LAN port as my WAN, so I can't use link aggregation with my NAS, which needs the same port. The other WAN is a 10GbE port connected to my PC. I have to look into changing me 10gbe rj45 card to a SPF to free up the 10gbe WAN.
Except for the lack of a 6G band, the lack of a manual, and bugs that will surely be fixed with firmware updates, I love it.For the details, look at the specs and the many reviews for this new router from ASUS.It's only dual-band, but I wanted the ports. For now, it needs some bug fixes and a manual to download. A Fire TV Stick is the only device that will not connect to it. I put the Fire TV Stick on a guest network using WPA2 instead of WPA3, and it connected (that has to be the Fire TV Stick's problem). I am using the 10G WAN for the internet and the SPF+ 10G for a switch, and everything is running very fast. I prefer the ASUSWRT/ASUSWRT-Merlin interface over all others I've used. Finally, the price is right for what you get.
I was using the router that was supplied by the provider but there were certain areas in my home where the wifi connection was really weak and would go in and out frequently. Since i have purchased the RT-BE88U the signal strenght throughtout the house is much better and in the areas where the signal was weak it is much stronger and consistent. Very satisfied and confident with the unit.
