The DisplayPort on the monitor is also required to be used in order to enable G-SYNC with NVIDIA graphics cards (or FreeSync with AMD cards). Note that currently, the NVIDIA control panel will give you a “non-validated” compatibility warning when you go to enable G-SYNC with this monitor. The wide 178° viewing angle enables the screen to look sharp with accurate colors from about every angle and position and when paired with the super thin bezels at the top and sides makes this monitor a good candidate for having multiple displays. You can toggle built-in alignment screens, accessible from the menus, to help you level and line up several monitors to make a nearly seamless large display. The monitor can tilt, swivel, and rotate 90° from horizontal in either direction on its included stand or you can remove the stand and attach it to a VESA mount, giving you a wide range of positioning and arrangement options. I particularly like portrait orientation when working on large spreadsheets or editing portrait framed photos. There are seven pre-set color profiles you can choose from, my favorite ones are ‘Scenery’ and ‘RTS/RPG mode,’ or you can tweak individual parameters to suit your preference. The change in visuals compared to my 60Hz LCD is stark. I guess I had kind of gotten used to the graphics on my system during gaming being choppy at times and stuttering every so often. I also didn’t realize how blurry most fast motion looked, especially with fast-paced action games like FPS and racing titles, until I could see the difference the higher refresh rate made with the low motion blur (ELMB) enabled; just note that you can’t have both Adaptive-sync and ELMB enabled at the same time. In general, I thought having ELMB set to “standard” was sufficient since the improvement to “turbo” wasn’t as noticeable and tended to darken the screen too much. In general, I didn’t have any issues with tearing or ghosting. The clearest difference I saw was in the color depth as this Asus monitor display has 8-bit color support via 6-bit + frame rate control to achieve near the full range of color in the sRGB color space for more vivid colors with clearer contrast and deeper saturation. For me, this also makes this monitor great for creative work especially when color correcting photos and editing video.I wasn’t in love with the 6 menu control buttons adjacent to the power button though, because they’re unmarked and change functions depending on where in menu tree you are; so navigating through the options was a bit clunky, and it took me a few tries to get the hang of it. Unfortunately, this is the only way to adjust the max volume for the monitor which is buried several layers deep within the menus. Not that the built-in stereo speakers are that great, but I don’t have other external speakers for my gaming PC, so I’d previously only been using headphones for audio. This monitor gives me the option to output audio through its 2 Watt speakers and since the DisplayPort cable carries the audio signal, I didn’t even have to hook up an extra AUX cable (HDMI also transmits both audio and video). It’s nice too that there’s a VGA port for folks with older systems, but you really don’t get to take full advantage of all the monitor has to offer using VGA input, so there’s no point in spending the money for this monitor if you’re going to use VGA, in my opinion.I also appreciated the ability to turn off the power LED, even though it’s quite small to begin with. One neat feature is the blue light filter, though it takes a little getting used to. There are 4 levels of blue light removal to help protect your eyes from its potentially harmful effects. While it will change the color representation on the screen, giving everything a yellowish tinge, your eyes eventually adjust and the color offset is less noticeable. At the highest filter (level 4), though, I did feel that the brightness dropped off too much to be usable for gaming, though it did significantly reduce IPS glow in pitch black conditions. There are a couple interesting gaming specific features like being able to add a static crosshair to the center of the screen, live FPS counter, a countdown timer to help you track your gameplay time, and shadowboost.Overall, I think that this is a fantastic entry-level gaming IPS monitor that will be game changing for anyone who hasn’t experienced refresh rates over 100Hz. It also performs well as a general use monitor for creatives that work with visual media and is suitable for watching Full HD movies (though not 4K) for a good all-around value.

I am always pretty lucky with how long products last me. Even previous Asus products. My last Asus monitor lasted me 7 years! In 2019 I decided to upgrade my PC that was using an Asus motherboard from 2010, just because I wanted an upgrade and not because it was broken. This is the first product in a long time that has seen a failure so quickly. I bought it on Nov 26 2020 for a pretty good price for the specs. A few days ago I started to see an inch thick row of pixels along the bottom of the monitor. The rest of the monitor seems to work fine. Although, now when it turns on and it does not detect a connection, the screen behind the detect connection message is bright blue, rather than black (how it used to be) with some pink pixels in various places. Tried some basic things, and then verified it was the monitor and not my GPU. Did not want to void its warranty with some DIY fixes, so I decided to start the warranty process. When I would attempt to input the s/n in the Online RMA process, a message would pop up noting that Best Buy/Geek Squad services this product. I thought that was kind of weird, but after various attempts I was l decided to contact Best Buy. After chatting with Best Buy through online chat and the phone, they gave me an appointment to take the monitor in to be repaired. I even asked if this is normal, as in would I have to pay anything, as I do not have a Geek Squad warranty etc. They said if my monitor was indeed broken then they could contact Asus to honor the warranty or something like that. The day of, I lugged the monitor to Best Buy and a guy at the Geek Squad area tells they don't fulfill Asus monitor warranties (insert clown face emoji here). Not really Best Buy's fault (although I had explained my situation thoroughly to them on the phone and they still set me up with an appointment that led me to go there). Asus needs to check out that misleading message popping up when certain non desktop/laptop serial numbers are input into the Online RMA process. They told me to attempt to return it, which I knew was silly as I purchased it like 9 months ago, and that failed. So I lugged it back home and call Asus. Now I am learning I will have to pay to ship it to them for them to fix it. I am tempted to just open it up myself and attempt to fix it. Good luck!

You just need to go into the setting on the monitor and turn on Variable Refresh Rate and then the “Enable G-Sync” will appear in Nvidia Control Panel. Now for the only major downside: the User Interface is a total pain to use. Instead of giving you a joystick nipple to navigate the menu, you have 5 buttons that aren’t always clearly labeled on screen. Add on top of that Asus’ TERRIBLE naming of monitor features (to be fair most brands seem to use proprietary names for everything from VRR to Backlight Adjust instead of calling them what they are) I eventually gave up and went to YouTube and found a review that explains the important settings and I haven’t touched it since. If you’re in the market for a really good 1080p 144hz gaming monitor, I really think you should add this to your monitor comparison list.

So I was looking for a new monitor for my Xbox Series X. While I had thought about getting a 1440p monitor, but 1080p still looks just fine. My main desire was the 120hz/120FPS capability on Xbox and this monitor delivers that. The monitor and stand were very easy to put together, as it literally took less than a minute to set up. I love the adjustable height and how easy it is to adjust. The monitor looks good and has nice colors, but you will need to mess around with the settings to find the best picture for you. I do wish some of the settings were more customizable, like Vivid Pixel. But either way, there's alot of different settings you can try out to optimize the picture. The monitor comes with a Display Port, but if you're playing on console, just use your standard HDMI chord and you're good to go. Don't forget to go into the settings and turn on 120hz. It definitely makes the gameplay much smoother, especially on games that support 120FPS.Overall, great monitor for the price. There's monitors much better out there, but for this price, it's a solid deal.
I’ve been using this for over a week now and I’ve absolutely loved it. I was tired of straining my eyes and back over a small laptop screen and since I had gotten an external keyboard and mouse I figured it was time to get a monitor to finish the setup.First off, it was quite an impressive price for the quality. Most other monitors boasting up to 144hz refresh rates are a lot more expensive, in the 300-350$ range. I was able to set it to 120 hz and I keep it at that for pretty much anything I do, with absolutely no issues whether watching videos, doing work or playing games. Another thing I really enjoy about the monitor is how easy it is to adjust on its stand. The screen can be rotated around as much as you want and you can even flip it to be vertical if you ... Another thing I really enjoy about the monitor is how easy it is to adjust on its stand. The screen can be rotated around as much as you want and you can even flip it to be vertical if you wanted a vertical monitor for streaming etc. Adjusting the height is just as easy and it feels sturdy enough that it won’t slide down or fall. I was able to set it at a height to where I won’t hurt my back leaning over anymore. On top of that, the picture quality is really good and although I’m not an expert on that sort of thing I find the colors to be pretty rich and well defined, not dull at all.Overall, I highly recommend this if you don’t want an expensive monitor but still want a taste of high end tech.Pros:-Affordable-Great picture quality and refresh rate-Fully adjustable on its stand-Plug and play, HDMI works perfectly-Lightweight and also does not get hot while usingCons:-Stand is made of plastic, not metal, which is likely where some of the price went down-Doesnt come with an HDMI cable, only DisplayPort of a size my laptop didn’t accept, so I had to use a separate HDMI cable that I thankfully already had on hand
Before these monitors I had 3 different types of monitors. I wanted all three of my monitors (only bought two) to be the same because I hated how the colors were off. Also i had a 27 inch samsung galaxy curved gaming monitor and although it was good it was too big and it hurt my eyes. So I wanted something smaller.I found these monitors on sale for $179.99. They have good specs and the colors are nice. Even better than the Samsung monitor I had and that was $400.Bonus was that these monitors have built in speakers. Not amazing quality, but nice to have if I wanna plug in my cable box or nintendo switch and have sound still.LASTLY, they came if HDMI cables that supported the 144hz. The normal price is too much for what you get. Absolutely a steal when on sale. When it does go on sale ill buy a third and replace my vertical monitor with it!
Bought this monitor to connect to my Windows PC gaming laptop as the laptop only has a 15.6” screen. Compared to such a small screen a 23.8” screen looks enormous sitting side by side to a 15.6” display. This monitor performs as its specs say it should perform. I currently have my laptop desktop graphics resolution set to 1920x1080 and this display indicates it’s running at 144Hz refresh as it’s supposed to. For gaming at 1080P this monitor has a very fast response time and is flicker free with no screen tearing. However this performance comes with a caveat. If variable frequency sync is enabled the motion blur filter is disabled and vice versa. I don’t know how well this display works with Freesync as my PC doesn’t have an AMD GPU. If variable frequency sync is enabled the motion blur filter is disabled and vice versa. I don’t know how well this display works with Freesync as my PC doesn’t have an AMD GPU. However this display does support base level nVidia Gsync and my PC’s nVidia GPU control panel seems to indicate it recognizes a Gsync compatible display is connected. That being said this is strictly a gaming monitor which is also acceptable for daily general purpose use such as web browsing or watching movies, tv shows etc. This monitor’s rendering of text and fine image details while adequate for casual use may not meet the more demanding standards required for graphic artist use. All in all the reasonable price point (especially on promo sale) this monitor is sold at makes it a great entry level gaming display. Be aware the built in speakers, even set to 100% volume level, are not as loud as a decent external powered speaker system. This monitor has three video input connections: DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA but only comes prepackaged with a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable which is meant for PC desktop graphic card connection. In order to achieve the 144Hz refresh rate the monitor has to be connected using DisplayPort. HDMI is capped at 60Hz and VGA likely maxes out at around 60Hz. To connect this monitor to a PC laptop requires a separately purchased cable whether it be a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort, HDMI or VGA. The only complaint I have with this monitor is it only has a handful of physical controls on the chassis and everything is driven by On Screen Display menus. This can become a handful if a user likes to make frequent adjustments to the monitor’s settings.
I don't recommend it. Started out being decent. I used it as a sub-monitor with my M1 Macbook Air. I didn't abuse it in any way, but after about a year, it started not recognizing the input device via HDMI. Sometimes if I unplugged and plugged back in the power cable it would come back, but now, it doesn't respond at all (dark). Can't access the menu either to factory reset. The ASUS website gives you a runaround, instructing you to contact Best Buy Geek Squad for warranty services, and the corresponding page on Best Buy website tells you to contact the manufacturer. I will try to call ASUS, but I'm not expecting much. It's not expensive, but it's irresponsible for a company to produce a product that becomes giant electronic trash after a year.
I love this monitor, or at least the the ones manufactured in Mar 2020. I recently purchased a 2nd monitor manufactured in Jul 2021, and could tell immediately that the newer version is slightly off. What I have tried will be listed below: Long story short, nothing worked. However if you read the last entry, I found the solution!!!-GPU out was HDMI and Display Port. I thought maybe HDMI 8K cable was better than my 4K Display Port cable. So I swapped them, between the (2) monitor's with still the same color results.-I went into system -> advanced display settings -> Noticed that main monitor was 144hz, while the duplicate was 120hz. I couldn't force my duplicated monitor to 144hz, so I changed my main monitor to 120hz. Still the same color results.-I went into ... Still the same color results.-I went into the monitor settings and tried to change the color by user, with no luck.-I called ASUS customer support. Let's just say their products are great, but speaking with tech support is trash.Solution. I purchased another monitor and looked on the back of the 3rd "test" monitor and noticed that it was manufactured in Jul 2021, just like the 2nd "duplicate" monitor. So I unplugged my main monitor "Mar 2020" and noticed immediately that the 2nd and 3rd monitor's colors were identical. So essentially, if you know that your going to extend display's, purchase both of the same monitor's at the same time, more than likely you'll purchase the same manufacturing month and year, and not having my situation.I added pictures, of the color differences. It looks blurry when I attached them to this review, hopefully it shows up.
PROS- Screen, as long as you don't want something over 30" then is is plenty big for the average gamer / office computer. And the IPS panel looks fantastic.- Refresh Rate, this screen is buttery smooth and at 144hz you are doing yourself a favor for gaming.- Colors, very accurate out of the box and didn't have to play much with the color settings.- Features, plenty of features that i'm still finding out about this bad boy and still messing around with them.- Ergonomics, the stand that it comes with is fantastic and this screen could also be used as a tall monitor vs a widescreen monitor.- Price, and finally the price... cant beat it for what all you get in this package...great quality build.CONS- Brightness, it's not terrible, just wish it was a little ...
