I'm sure this is going to prove to be a good computer, but had I realised the number pad was configured differently from my previous (and other continuing) laptops (both also ASUS products) I would not have made the purchase. As someone who does lots of "number" work and has come to touch type figures, finding the positioning of the "0" and "." are different is woeful. Sure, one would become accustomed to the new positioning, but as my other notebook is different and I will no longer have the same experience and ease of data entry. A bad move on the part of ASUS. If "QWERTY" is a standard, so too should be the number pad.

This laptop was bought as an "out of office" work station and is great price, performance solid. Fast startup, great for all programs. I run Outlook, Photoshop and Wordpress all together without an issue.Battery life is fantastic for the work I do on it. Yes I certainly push this machine and it doesn't blink with an issue. Lightweight and great. I highly recommend to everyone that doesn't have a fortune to spend but also doesn't like waiting for things to happen on their computer. As an IT/Web Developer, it happily suits me to a T when travelling.

I bought this ASUS Vivobook 15.6” laptop a couple of months ago and so far I really like the performance I get out of it. So far the battery life is phenomenal. I bought this laptop because my old one that I had for about 8 years finally got so slow that I had to retire it. This laptop boots up very fast and I like the fact that I use my fingerprint to log on. It saves time and it is a great feature. The laptop is very fast and I love it so far. It is very easy to use and I had it up and running in no time at all. For someone who does not know a lot about the inner workings of computers it is very easy to use. I would highly recommend this computer to anyone who wants to surf the web and take care of business.

I bought this laptop to replace my old one. I hadn’t bought an Asid product before so I was a little concerned that I may not like it and that it would not meet my expectations. I’m happy 3 report it actually exceeded my expectations. It’s fast, efficient and runs smoothly. The sound it superior and the screen resolution is amazing. I stream a lot of video content and the reproduction of it is beyond my expectations. I would not hesitate : recommend this laptop. One last thing, the price for what you get is a great value.

Fast, lightweight and value for money

I needed a new laptop in a hurry whilst my old one was in for repair. I chose the Asus Vivobook because the RAM and memory represented value for money and it was on sale. The features I like most are it's fast, lightweight, Windows 11, quick to recharge, good selection of ports, it packs easily in my case or hand luggage when travelling. The things I'm not so keen on the battery life has diminished to under two hours, it has minimal ventilation (approx 20 x 90 mm) and thus heats up quickly, the fan is quite loud. I purchased a laptop stand with fans to keep the machine cool. The stand has two fans is considerably quieter than the internal fan. I am also disappointed that the speaker emits sound from the underside and the loudness has diminished to the point where I need to use an ancilliary speaker when using the laptop for calls or movies. None of these things are particular deal breakers and I do not regret my purchase. It will be interesting to see the longevity of the Asus. I tend to keep my computers for years. My previous laptop was purchased when Windows 8 was released (10 years ago) and, since its minor repair, continues to serve me well despite being a bit slow. I would qualify any recommendation with the points I've made above. Overall, I would not talk someone out of purchasing an Asus Vivobook and would likely buy another if it was (again) the best in my price range.

Network adapter driver issues.
24 December 2022

Great laptop for home computing with an emphasis on internet browsing, editing and sharing photos, home office apps. A little light on battery life. I get, maybe 5 hrs editing documents and photos. Windows 10 and 11 come with Intel network driver issues. “If your laptop has an intel network adapter.” After the initial setup of the computer, you will be updating too the latest security updates and windows drivers. After the update installs and your computer reboots, you will discover no network connectivity. To resolve this problem you must manually install the latest Intel driver from the Intel website.

Not too bad not too great.

It'd be nice if it had a disc drive/ burner I must be old school. A lot of subscriptions, even though they say windows 10 you still have to pay 100 a year for basic things like excel, word etc. Which is why I bought it thinking that was just a given. Lots of unnecessary news and pop up updates, subscriptions products etc. each time you use it. Seems like things are getting more technical the more features they have. Not any better or easier. You want a computer where advertisers or big tech giants leave you alone to do your own thing bit of a downfall with so much technology no idea of consumer wants. Good guys are great though.

Not what it could be

I'm sure this is a very good computer, but it has not come without some annoyances. I have more than one ASUS and this one replaced another which had a long and faithful life. I still have another ASUS I use concurrently.I am an accountant and do lots of "number work". How BEYOND annoying to have found post-purchase that the configuration of the number pad is different from the other two ASUS notebooks I have/had. No more touch typing of figures!LUNACY on the part of ASUS to have made this change. Surely if "QWERTY" is a standard, so too should be the number pad.It is an impediment to my work. Sadly, it was replacing a failed machine that was my main work-horse and there was some urgency involved. add some memory
7 January 2023

I was initially very disappointed in this laptop. I bought it so my kid could play a few games (nothing graphic intensive) on it and use it for school and watching videos, but straight away it started locking up, lagging and sometimes shutting down. After turning off all the unnecessary junk that runs in the background it worked better but I still wasn't real happy. Finally I took a close look at the memory and realized it uses 4gb of SHARED memory. A few minutes on Asus website and 2 more on Amazon and I ordered a stick of 8gb DDR4 so-dimm memory for $25. Easy install (like 8 screws on the back and a few plastic clips) popped in the new memory upgrade and now it runs like it should have out of the box. For $25 more dollara this could have been a 5star starter ... MoreI was initially very disappointed in this laptop. For $25 more dollara this could have been a 5star starter computer, instead I'm giving it 3 stars due to the poor memory, and the gobs and gobs of bloatware, some of which is Windows and some is Asus. it's it a good buy, sure but spend the extra money and get the extra memory, it's super easy to add and makes a world of difference in the functionality if the laptop.

I bought this laptop 5 weeks ago, looking for a laptop for media and web use at an affordable price. Early on, I occasionally experienced issues with the mousepad lacking any corresponding cursor on the screen, which I was easily able to get around with an external mouse that I already owned, and which has seemingly resolved itself. I haven't experienced any trouble with the mousepad/screen cursor or needed the external mouse for the last two weeks. I would have given the laptop 5 stars without this issue. Ultimately, my feelings on this device will come down to how it is performing in 3 years. So far, so good. Again, with that one exception it operates exactly as expected and I feel I'm getting a good value for the performance and price that I paid.
