Like other reviews have stated on this motherboard, it is not stable at all with nearly any XMP profile. At the time of writing this motherboard is a part of a bundle with a i9 13900k and a pack of DDR5-6000 rated ram. Chances are you will not get anywhere near those speeds and this combo is just to rid Microcenter of bad stock and pawn quality control issues onto the consumer. I would crash due to memory issues with basic youtube streaming and very light gaming. The motherboard also did not have any sort of Ethernet drivers so setting up windows was much more hassle than it needed to be. This could have been forgiven but combined with the fact that you don't get anywhere near what is advertised in terms of memory speed support, its just unprofessional. I don't know why Microcenter never posted my negative review last week. You'd think it'd be helpful to avoid returns because I returned 2 of these. I got this as part of the package with the i9 and GSkillz DDR5 memory so if the ASUS rep telling the other negative reviewer they should check that those are compatible, maybe ask Microcenter if they've tested those together before offering it as a package. My powersupply was also a GSkillz 850W gold rated modular power supply. Is that good enough ASUS rep? Your own tech support said that the motherboard was unresponsive. The Microcenter tech, at least the first one who actually bothered testing my work said it was the motherboard. Just admit this is a bad motherboard. I've never had a new machine not even boot up ... MoreI don't know why Microcenter never posted my negative review last week. I've never had a new machine not even boot up before this ASUS. My old ASROCK motherboard never had this issue. My old Intel motherboard before that never had that issue. From my research (googling) it seems that DDR5 just has has trouble with motherboards because the speeds are too fast and you either have to turn off XMP and not get your money's worth or you're going to have to go through a lot of trouble to get them to work.

Always liked Asus products, overall very impressed with the quality and features. Purchased as a bundle and it is the lower tier of the Asus LGA 1700 series, running a I9-13900K with 64G ram and 1TB M2 boot drive. First startup, always a few nerves there, no problem, just a little frustrating to find that to install the ARMOURY CRATE I needed to be connected to the internet and the on board wi-fi also needed to be on line to download the drivers, come on Asus how about a driver disk! That said after installing a usb adaptor the ARMOURY CRATE (when downloaded) did a great job of filling in all the missing device drivers, including the onboard wi-fi, in no time at all, so quite impressed there (eventually), it was jus the messing around to get on line that cost the ... MoreAlways liked Asus products, overall very impressed with the quality and features. I bought this Mobo with my Intel 13900k and it delivers exactly what I'd hope for and more. Plus, the built in driver install software is pretty nice. The bios menu could be better but from a hardware perspective it's great!
Bought this a month ago and so far very happy. I have purchased Tuf gaming boards in my last 3 system builds, they are quality boards and I have never experienced a failure. I bought some fast DDR 5, 6200mhz Corsair Dominator platinum ram. In order to get the XMP profiles to work I had to populate the 2 dimms in my kit to the 2nd channel, if I used them in the primary channel the system failed post with XMP profile enabled. Now I'm running XMP and my Core I7 13700k at 5.4ghz without incident.
I could not recommend this board to anyone. My last board was a gigabyte pro Wi-Fi with a 9900k. I did not have a single issue with that motherboard. When I upgraded to a 13900k I went with ASUS because I heard nothing but good about them, and nothing but bad about gigabyte and them standing behind their product (their power supply fiasco). I’ve had nothing but problems with this board. Sometimes it will post after 5 mins, I’ve walked away for 30 mins and no post, sometimes, and I mean it’s very rarely, it posts immediately. I’ve tried 3 different sets of ram, and all with XMP off. I’ve tried countless solutions and nothing works. If you do a quick google search about “asus z790 post” you’ll find countless forum topics about it on Reddit and such. Do your research, ... MoreI could not recommend this board to anyone. Do your research, this board (and from what I’ve seen, their higher end boards as well) is awful. Stay away,
All of my motherboards in the past 10 years have been Asus. I am still rocking a delidded 8700K with an Asus Maximus Apex - runs great.I have the current Asus z790 Maximus Hero with a 13900K and a Strix z590 with a 11700K delidded as well.Aside from some of the usual USB issues with the z590 and z790 boards (go into device manager and turn off all power management on all USB hubs) I have had no problems.I also mined with Asus Prime motherboards exclusively and still have a Prime z290 with an unlocked i5 running an old gaming computer.Ok, so I know a lot about Asus motherboards and I want to encourage you, no matter what motherboard/CPU combo you get, to spend the extra cash and get a CPU with video and get a motherboard with a BIOS flashback feature. And if you can afford it a mobo with an integrated start/stop button on the board itself. These features can be the difference between a successful build/long happy experience or failure.
I just bought this board and put in an i7 13700k and ddr5 corsair RAM and it works fabulous. I will say that when building the computer it was tough to reach some of the places to put in the screws/plugs however I think that was more an issue with the case I built in as the placement of everything on this board seemed pretty standard. If you want a mid range gaming motherboard that's z790 and ddr5 this is a solid option.
Building a PC and this mobo isn't compatible with Windows installation media. The Samsung 980 SSD is not detected by Windows (but is detected by BIOS). The WiFi adapter and ethernet port are also not supported - this will grind your Windows installation to a halt while you read random internet forum posts trying to figure out why anyone would sell a motherboard that isn't compatible with common products...
No issues - right out the box . Installed with 64Gb Dominator. Recently swapped from a Maximus. Worth it as I wasn’t using the bells and whistles, daily.
