Bought this to replace a Google Nest mesh system, which had been starting to annoy me. This thing is light years better, and worth every penny. The performance is stellar....I've got a 1.4 gbps connection through Xfinity and I'm getting around 1.3 gbps on the 6 Ghz band, and around 700-800 mbps on the 5 ghz band when in the same room as router or satellite (and that's with wireless backhaul but I plan to switch to wired backhaul once I get a hole cut to run wires). The range is outstanding...5 ghz speeds still hold up around 500 mbps through multiple walls. Speeds still hold up well even when signal strength is around -70 dbm. By comparison, the best speeds I would get on the Nest were 500-600 mbps when in same room as router, and speeds would drop to 100-200 ... MoreBought this to replace a Google Nest mesh system, which had been starting to annoy me. Plus I needed 3 points in my house on Nest where I only need two for the ET12.The customization and options beat every other mesh out there. Nest gave me limited options which made things frustrating (like no ability to separate bands or filter by band). For example, sometimes my bedroom TV would connect to 2.4 ghz band when in same room as Nest, when I wanted 5. With the ET12, I was able to block the TV from the 2.4 band to force it to connect to the 5 band and still keep single SSID. There are tons of other options as well.100% happy with this purchase, and delivery from B&H was very fast.

6G Signal disappears and does not show for Any 6e capable device constantly.Moving between node results in extreme lag and often needing to turn wifi on and off on phones to get them to re-connect or force them to move.Mesh Node restarts when certain laptops (alienware) try to connect to it.QoS does not work at all in any form what so ever.Even Wired devices on the Node will just lose connection for no reason until their NIC is disabled then re-enabled. Unplugging does not work. It is like the Node hard crashed the NIC. (Same devices work without fail on any and all other networking equipment.Patching and support is rare and worthless. Day 1 issues still exist. So the extreme price for these devices is not going towards any degree of support.

As a previous network engineer, my perspective has always been more corporate which means my home network is secured and I prefer a good mesh with features and interface that provide the ability to control everything from the firewall to DHCP and QoS. Setting up the firewall is easy with options that allow you to use keywords or URLs which is pretty convenient. The VPN options are nice as well. However, if I want to add or change DHCP, including the range or add a static address, the primary should not lock up and adding a mesh client should not cause it to lock up. One of the mesh was also locked up and had to be rebooted. I'll be looking through the forums and ASUS for any similar issues and possibly firmware updates. If there are no firmware updates or similar issues, I can only assume my units have some issue which will lead me to go back to a more corporate use such as Ubiquity (which I had previously and worked great but the interface was lacking). Going to give it a few more weeks, possibly a month.

ASUS ET12 Review, Highly Recommended!!!I had many ASUS routers in the past, 5 plus years ago with bad luck, I think it was my ISP that was bad also, but the ASUS routers just would not work with my junk ISP at the time.I purchased an Orbi 50 with one satellite (reconditioned yet), that worked great until I updated firmware, then the satellite would never perform right. So I purchased another (reconditioned), sold the first one, and firmware locked the second one, ran absolutely great for years, and now installed it at my moms. I purchased the Orbi 963 and can not firmware lock the 963, Netgear removed the ability to firmware lock it, so the 963 took a firmware update on it, and I tried everything, I even got one for work and it took down the work server and ... MoreASUS ET12 Review, Highly Recommended!!!I had many ASUS routers in the past, 5 plus years ago with bad luck, I think it was my ISP that was bad also, but the ASUS routers just would not work with my junk ISP at the time.I purchased an Orbi 50 with one satellite (reconditioned yet), that worked great until I updated firmware, then the satellite would never perform right. I purchased the Orbi 963 and can not firmware lock the 963, Netgear removed the ability to firmware lock it, so the 963 took a firmware update on it, and I tried everything, I even got one for work and it took down the work server and network, I found it to be Netgear armor, so I disabled that and my ping was better to the server but still was dropping slightly, so I swapped back to the original router and ban absolutely no more drops.Every time I post my bad results on Netgear forums, Netgear DELETES them every time!!!!At home my 963 satellite just dropped out, had to reboot the 963 to get the satellite working again.I returned my home and work ORBI 963.ASUS ET12I saw absolutely stunning reviews on the ASUS ET12, so I purchased it. THE ABSOLUTE BEST ROUTER I PURCHASED TO DATE.Set up was a breeze, I also purchased a pair of Motorola Moca adapters to get wired back haul at 2.5 gigabits per second, note I have a Netgear cable modem that also has 2.5 gbps so that goes into the WAN port on one of the ASUS ET12’s then the moca 2.5gbps goes into the other lan 2.5 gbps port on the ET12 router, now the 2nd moca connects to the WAN 2.5 gbps port on the 2nd ET12, now satellite. Now in settings after you connect in WiFi you turn on Ethernet back haul. Wow this ET12 with the December update is running stunning, all 42 devices in our house perfectly, and 45 devices at work are just rocking away.I created a IoT 2.5ghz for all of the IoT devices. The ASUS ET12 out performs the 963 hands down and with only 2 nodes. (Main and satellite)Speeds are always just outstanding on the ET12, sooo much better than the Orbi 963 ever did (that was only slightly better than the Orbi 50)On the Orbi 50 and 953 I would get 200-500 mbps down on Speedtest.net depending on time of day and other devices streaming. With the ASUS ET12 it’s like an entire new network my speeds are 500-900’s and mostly in the 600-900 mbps. WiFi on my Apple TV’s never got over 200mbps on the ORBI’s 50 or 963 but now are in the 400-900mbps, mainly 500-900mbps.This ET12 is just rock solid, it just works absolutely great. It definitely keeps my devices at the fastest they can be on WiFi all the time, vs the Orbi 50 and 953 maybe 1-3 devices are at a high speed sometimes (sometimes I had to turned WiFi off and on, to get better connection speeds on the ORBI’s ).Aesthetically the ASUS ET12 is the best looking router, and space saving design I have ever seen.I also purchased one ASUS ET12(Not the 2 pack as I purchased for home) for work (work paid for it).The work ET12 is also working stunning !!! NO drops or network issues of any kind. All I can say is WOW!!!! This ET12 just Rocks!!!!Reference Note:Xfinity 1.2gbps down, 20mbps up home.Verizon fios 400mbps down and up for work.Firmware on all ET12 home and work v3.0.0.4.388.22127
First of all, wonderful router. It is everything that it said it would be and more. Super happy with the purchase. Second, B&H will be my go to from now on with electronics. I was loyal to Amazon for 20 years, but the quality has suffered badly in the last year. I continually ordered new products and received used items with them sometimes being defective. B&H shipped me the package in pristine condition as they promised in 2 days. It was packed wonderfully. So happy with B&H. Take my advice and stay away from Amazon for electronics. BH is awesome and will get all of my future high-tech business. Thank you!!
By far the most power router/mesh system I ever purchased. Fixed all of my wireless issues experienced with my internet service provider modem. I have a 2800 sq ft home with a small backyard. I have 4 floors with quite a few walls. This blows through all obstacles. I have a wireless 6GHz back haul to the satellite unit. Gives me almost identical speeds at the node as I do at the source router. Wireless is consistent and even as a signal. It's pricey, but it performs. If you don't have time to waste, this is a good option.
Bought this mesh system after being extremely unhappy with my Nighthawk AX11000 Tri-Band WiFi 6 Router router. This ASUS router is amazing. Only potential gripe is one router completely covers my whole house easily. I don't even know why they sell this in pairs unless you need to cover 6000sf home. I would have been more than happy with the one unit. Amazing coverage and speeds....one day I might plug in the mesh point.....It is that good. Yes it is expensive and maybe technology has gotten that much better in a few years, but this router is amazing.
I purchased two of these kits to replace my Nest Wifi Pro. These have been far more stable so far with really no drops since I set it up. The range is ok on each device. My phone doesn't always switch to the closest one as I walk around, but I haven't noticed any real issues. I currently have 2 points connected to the router via a wired backhaul and those are working perfectly. I have not hooked up my last access point yet so I haven't tried the wireless backhaul.I do have one issue with the router, and that is the guest network. There seems to be a bug that when I don't let the guest network access to my local network, it also loses internet access.Everything else has been great so far.
This mesh system is running excellently. I am impressed with the increased range I get from Wi-Fi 6E. The software is full of features and takes a bit to learn (app and web-based, with each having some things the other doesn't).I think one of the best features is how each device is identical. I found other brands give one main router and hardware-limited AP's. My fear with those is if the main device dies, your network is dead. With the ET12, if the router connected to the modem has issues an owner can plug the other device in and still be connected while waiting for a replacement.
The things I like most about the ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 are:1) It provides two 2.5gbps ports so you can use 1 for wired backhaul between the 2 units and the other to connect to a multigig hub.2) With only 2 nodes making up the mesh, it provides much better coverage than my previous system, the Google Mesh WiFi with 4 nodes. I have a 2550 square foot house and it easily covers the entire house inside as well as giving good signal in the yard outside, for outdoor cameras as well as the patio. I even get good signal across the cul-de-sac in my neighbor's driveway!3) I have 2gbps service from my ISP and with a wired connection I'm actually getting 2.4gbps.
