I'm 5'10 235 lb 35in sleeve 41in waist. I purchased an extra large. The sleeve length is good there's not too much extra length. Waist of the jacket has about 2in of room largely due to the fleece side flex. I only wear a t-shirt under this. However, if you are expecting this jacket to keep you warm in freezing temperatures, or in the snow, or in very windy circumstances where its 1 or 2 degrees, It simply will not. It will definitely help, and keep you somewhat warm, but not for long as it's not too thick. If used properly, it is a perfect jacket.Overall: The jacket Is perfect. I used it when I'm going on walks, scooter rides, going to eat, as an extra layer, going to school, work, while driving if its cold, at night when going out, and as a base/mid-layer when skiing, in the snow, or during the cold months of winter in freezing temperatures. Furthermore, this jacket paired with the arcteryx insulated or an arcteryx alpha or beta shell is the perfect combo to keep you agile, warm, and dry. I am not a “curvy” woman, but the hip area was still way too tight. When I sized up, the top part was way too big. In addition to the cut, I found the coat proportions in general did not fit me. Nothing seemed to fall in the right place. I am 5 feet tall and the coat was cut to fit tall women. This could also be why the hip area didn’t fit - it was probably falling too low. Still, I think widening the hip area could help the coats fit better on a wider range of women. All of the Arcteryx coats that I tried on seemed to have this issue. It would really be nice to have petite sizing - but please don’t just shorten the coats ... But I'm open to being surprised. This has earned a place in my gear closet already just for being so nice to wear. We'll see how it holds up against frigid ski ascents later in the year. I’ve had it for a couple of months now wearing it in various weather and climates. Overall I found the jacket to be “meh”. Breathability is kind of lacking, and gets hot pretty quickly. Which is good because it can be worn for colder weather than advertised but bad because it can’t really be worn for the climate it’s was designed for; summer and fall. Although I haven’t damaged it (or maybe used it hard enough?) the fabric feels super delicate, but I feel thats the drawback for how light it is. The main issue for me has always been wide shoulders and longer arms. The fit of this jacket is perfect if you are athletic. It’s articulated well also. I can raise my arms overhead with zero hem lift.I know everyone has an issue with tyono 20 fabric but I have yet to experience anything other than minor pilling after 5 years. Of course I don’t use this with backpack straps which seems to be the main issue. If I’m hiking I use my proton or a soft shell.I don’t feel that’s it much larger than the pervious version besides the room in the shoulders.For reference I’m 6’ 205lbs and lean. The ... Rather….this review is related to customer service issues I’ve had trying to get a repair done on my Atom SL. Previously, I had a completely different Arcteryx jacket (model is irrelevant), where the teeth on the main zipper chipped off, requiring a new zipper. I contacted Arcteryx Customer Service to see what my options are. They confirmed chipped zipper teeth are covered under their lifetime warranty (as they should be), and damage such as this wouldn’t fall under mis-use or normal wear-and-tear. Their initial response was for me to mail the ... So naturally, I asked if there were any other options…. They said that if I wanted to repair the jacket locally out of my own pocket, that is ok, but that it would void their lifetime warranty. To compensate for this, they offered me a product voucher worth roughly 50% of the product. All I had to do was simply make a mark on the tag of the product so that it could never be used in a future warranty claim. I was very happy with this compromise and proceeded with this option. Fast forward to this year….. I literally had the EXACT SAME damage issue to my Atom SL (chipped teeth on the main zipper). I contacted customer service and again was told to mail it in for repairs. Besides the two issues I mentioned above, they also mentioned the replacement zipper would not be the OEM color (wouldn’t match the other zipper colors), but they would do their best to get it close. This may boil down to personal preference, but if I am paying $200-$700USD for a jacket, and then have to pay to ship it in for repairs, I would prefer to not have it look like a “Frankenstein” jacket with multi-colored zippers. It looks trashy, low quality, and cheap (even if they are functionally the same). I contacted them again and made a reference to how my previous product repair warranty claim was handled. Their first response was to mail it in (again, on my own dime), forfeit the jacket, and I would be issued a 20% (not 50%) product voucher code. Please take note, for a $220 jacket, 20% is roughly $40USD, which, if you subtract the shipping to send it to them, is closer to $20-$30USD. So naturally, I asked two questions. #1: Why was I allowed to self-repair and keep my first product, but for my Atom SL I have to forfeit it and send it in. #2: Why was I given a 50% product voucher code for my first claim, and now only a 20% voucher code for my second claim. I got a lot of run-around from multiple customer-service agents and had to escalate my issue to a manager. They never could actually give me a direct answer as to why self-repairs were allowed before, but now all claims absolutely must be mailed in via the ReWEAR program. They also could not explain why I could keep the jacket and get 50% towards a new product, but now have to forfeit the jacket and only get 20%. I was simply told that they were “making exceptions” for me, and I could take my 20% or get lost. Not exactly great customer service for one of the top-tier outdoor clothing companies. I still love my Atom SL, as well as all my other Arcteryx products, but their products are obviously more expensive that most other gear on the market. One of the main reasons I am willing to pay that premium is for the lifetime warranty and supposedly, good customer service. When I am told I have to mail a $220 jacket in, lose it, and only get a $40 bucks, it’s almost like a slap in the face. I am quite curious if they will actually answer the questions I’ve listed above, or if they will provide some brief/curt answer stating that franken-steining an extremely expensive jacket together is really the best that they can do.
