Absolutely amazing headphones. The clarity & detail is next level. Coming from SS ARCTIC PRO + dac, these are a improvement. Bluetooth works well.Clamping force is a bit strong but will break in.Highly recommend these headphones. Definitely worth the price.

Had these a few weeks, easily the best sounding headset I've ever had. They also work with both Xbox Series X & PS5 which is great as many headsets do not. They are, however, a bit of a pain to live with. The mic is very hit & miss, the app is terrible, and the volume wheel is a choice between the first 3 wheel clicks or having your ears melted. Overall I do recommend them though, as they really are unmatched for audio quality and the directional audio is excellent as well.

Sound is nice but not mind blowing and have pretty common issue with crackling noise in the cups.Comfort is fine.Mic is bad.App is janky and doesn't work in wireless mode.I would not recommend the Audeze Penrose as it doesn't feel ready for prime time. For wireless mic quality I'd recommend Logitech G Pro X.For wireless sound would recommend Bose 700.I prefer a lot of bass so I use Sony XB900N for music and the Logitech G Pro X for Discord.

I have gone through many reviews and comparisons with one of the best wireless gaming headsets in the market (Steelseries Arctis Pro / Astro A50 / corsair virtuoso) and with my usage of a mix of gaming/music listening, I have landed on these cans.Compared to any of the above headphones, these are the best sounding wireless headphones in this range period. However, as of writing, I. am on firmware 0.1.10 the range is still very bad compared with other competitors in the market (a couple of meters away and you will get mostly disconnected unless you connect the wireless dongle in front of your USB ports onto your PC or console). On Xbox series X, I got a range of more than 3- 4 meters straight line.If you are looking for range - These are not for you.One more ... MoreI have gone through many reviews and comparisons with one of the best wireless gaming headsets in the market (Steelseries Arctis Pro / Astro A50 / corsair virtuoso) and with my usage of a mix of gaming/music listening, I have landed on these cans.Compared to any of the above headphones, these are the best sounding wireless headphones in this range period. However, as of writing, I. am on firmware 0.1.10 the range is still very bad compared with other competitors in the market (a couple of meters away and you will get mostly disconnected unless you connect the wireless dongle in front of your USB ports onto your PC or console). On Xbox series X, I got a range of more than 3- 4 meters straight line.If you are looking for range - These are not for you.One more drawback is the clamping force of these headphones, it is not comfortable if you plan to wear more than 30 min straight without a break. However, this tip may help ease slightly.I have kept these headphones on to a small memory foam head pillow overnight for them to stretch a little and this did help minimise the clamping force. Make sure you DO NOT overstretch this process.Software is very basic and does not provide any surround sound options, unlike Mobius. However, you can use Dolby Atmos for headphone / DTS X headphones to enhance your gaming experience (although additional software license purchase on windows store is required if you need these features). I would recommend you get (Dolby / DTS) to enhance your experience even further in gaming. If you want the best-sounding wireless headphones, then these should be on your top list.

Having listened to microphone samples of the first three headsets in the list above, and coming from a ModMic 4 Omni piped through a second generation Focusrite Scarlett Solo and RTX Voice, I was thoroughly aware of the benefits of having a high quality microphone and having something that matched the described "broadcast quality" would be essential.I received my unit on 23rd December 2020, and I had various initial impressions after unboxing the product, starting with the good:- Surprise inclusion of a pop filter on the microphone.- Came with both USB Type-A to Type-C and Type-C to Type-C charging cables, whereas when I ordered it was only advertised as coming with a Type-A to Type-C cable.- Packaging quality, build quality, and material quality were all very high. And then the bad:- The clamping force on the headset is very high for those with larger heads, and I did not feel this ease after some days of use.- The included 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable is very short.Prior to utilising the headset, I installed Audeze's HQ software on my PC and connected the headset via USB cable. This was to both disable sidetone and to ensure I had the latest firmware update on the headset. I then disconnected the USB cable, connected the wireless dongle, and connected the headset to it. Note: the Audeze HQ software did not scale with my high DPI displays which did make it a bother to use.Next are my impressions after having connected the headset to a PC, again starting with the good:- After powering on, the headset connected to its wireless adapter very quickly.- Passive noise isolation was good.- The noise floor of the headset was very low.- The output quality was higher than I've experienced from any previous audio product including: my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones, Sony WH-1000XM3, and SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless. With the planar drivers, there was an almost jarring lack of distortion. The frequency response curve was flat, and bass was tight. The planar drivers also enable near-surreal levels of stereo imaging, and my sound localisation in Call of Duty: Warzone with Dolby Atmos for Headphones enabled was exceptional. As headphones, these truly were a pleasure to listen to, until...The bad:- A sporadic hiss in the left earcup. I could not find a guaranteed way to reproduce this, although it did persist long enough and occur commonly enough for me to ensure its presence. It was very noticeable above the noise floor of the headset and loud enough to be noticeable in a mix of music, comms, and games, at normal listening levels.- The microphone quality. Despite having the latest firmware and ensuring a good physical connection of the removable microphone, I could not get it to match the quality of audio clips provided by Audeze on SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/audeze/penrose-wireless-sample?in=audeze/sets/penrose-microphone-samples).- Again, the clamping force, this became uncomfortable with time.- The wireless range. While I criticised the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless previously, it does excel in being wireless, effortlessly passing through walls and floors with only sparse drops in connection. The wireless functionality on this headset seemed to be only guaranteed as far as the room the wireless dongle is located in, with near immediate connection drops upon leaving the room. Now, I, for refund, have returned the headset to Scan as faulty due to the hiss in the left earcup, and am awaiting the conclusion of that process. Further, I do judge the lacking microphone as being misadvertised by Audeze, and could not describe it as "broadcast quality" myself. There is some potential here for a quality product if you luck on a faultless unit and already have a good microphone setup. However, and especially with its price being £299 now as opposed to its preorder price of £249, I cannot currently recommend this headset at its price point.
This headset has superb sound. Unfortunately it has two issues that prevent it being great. 1). Design flaw - there is now way to simultaneously hook this up to a playstation and a pc. You have to keep moving the dongle between the devices. Alternatively you can put the dongle in one and use auxiliary cable for other (but you are now tethered not wireless). Possibly if you have Bluetooth on one you may be able to hook up wireless and Bluetooth and do it that way, but I haven't been able to test that. Steelseries have solved this problem by allowing you to route direct to their dongle equivalent from an auxiliary source and easily switch between them. This is a feature I would love to have on audeze. 2). Possible bug in audeze firmware (or another design flaw). If ... MoreThis headset has superb sound. If you play many older games or a fair number of recent Indies then if you turn off sound or the audeze powers off because of silence (eg. In a pause menu) then you have to restart the game to get sound back. This is a nuisance and in games without frequent saving or no manual save can be a real problem as you lose a lot of time replaying the segment. I spoke to audeze and they claim not their problem but game developers problem. Perhaps but it seems to occur 30 percent of time and my old steelseries did not have any such c issue so I reckon audeze could fix this if they tried. So great sound, but a few things hiding it back from being a good user experience.
So I quite like the Audeze Penrose headset, though they are not without their faults. Now before I begin trying to break things down, I feel like I should say that I have experience with budget (around £30) to more pricy (around £500) headphones, mics, and headsets. From a sound quality point of view, they are some of the best you can get, from a headset. Mids and heights are pretty great, but I would have liked to hear a bit more bass. Still, listening to music, podcasts, or even some gaming, can be a pleasure. These feel like a budget audiophile (do note, audiophile headphones can get up to several grand, hence, budget) pair of headphones, with a mic. These feel like a budget audiophile (do note, audiophile headphones can get up to several grand, hence, budget) pair of headphones, with a mic. If you're a gamer, and want these for that, I'd look elsewhere. Bass is so common in games, and you can get better for your money, for gaming. As for the mic, it's pretty decent, one of the better ones I've heard from a headset. I would still advise getting a proper one, not tied to a headset for serious work, but for the odd call, or some video games, perfectly adequate. Now the second plus for this headset is the connectivity. You can use these with a 3.55mm jack, Bluetooth, or with a Wireless Dongle. Now this dongle was designed for the headset, and I can confirm that it works on PC, and PS4/PS5. Latency is their, but is not noticeable, unless you're REALLY looking for it. I don't have any way to measure it, but it seems very low. As this is also wireless, the dongle is easy the best method for connection. The second wireless option, Bluetooth is a bit hit or miss. On my phone (Android), and tablet (IOS), latency was noticeable, but still quite low. The moment I connected it to a TV, or my PC... it's near unusable. Don't bother. One thing I REALLY liked though, is the ability to use the dongle, AND listen to music or something on your phone/tablet via BT. Playing a game on console, while listening to podcasts/music, from the same headset was fantastic. Still, i can't give too many points as this can be found on some cheaper headsets (though, not at this quality). Now lastly, you have the 3.55mm headphone jack... the audio (from mic, and headphones) is slightly better using this connection. It is also the most convenient, for me. One thing I DO NOT like about this connection method is the fact that you need this headset turned on, and that even using 3.55mm you're draining the battery. Now I understand that this headset might need more power than what the jack could provide, I still think this is unacceptable. When this battery dies, and it will, I will have a £200-300 paperweight. This is not acceptable, as the battery doesn't even seem to be removeable/changeable.Now for build quality, and comfort. I must say that this seems to be one of the more comfortable pairs I've used. At first they seemed a little stiff and tight, but so do most headsets. They will break in, and become much more comfortable, especially once you tweak the headband to fit. Though do note, I have a smaller (yet fully grown, slightly chubby, man sized) head. Another knock on this headset is the build quality.... These are rightfully so made of plastic. This is a good thing, as it's more breathable, lighter, and more comfortable for long usage periods. One thing that is not so good with this type of plastic though, is that these are slightly creaky. When lifting, putting on, or moving the earcups, you can hear some creaks. Now don't get me wrong, these are FAR from the worst, this is still of decent quality, but I would have liked better for the price. One nice thing about the build is that their is no touch functionality.... THANK YOU, AUDEZE. I absolutely HATE, touch controls. Both the power, and switch modes buttons are nice and tactile, they feel satisfying to press. Their is two volume wheels, one for the headphones, and another for your mic, both feel good to slide up and down, like a good PC mouse. You also have a mute toggle on the left earcup, too. It gives a lovely click, and you can easily hear it when using the headset, which is useful. Now, the battery. I'm making this a separate section as I think this is very important for a wireless headset. It makes it easier to find, at a glance. I can safely get over 12 hours of continuous usage, before I need to give it a charge. That's with wireless (dongle) usage too, which is nice. Now, if you are using both the dongle, and Bluetooth (as I said, I do), be prepared for that number to drop. I haven't timed this, like I have with just the dongle, though. As for charging, their is no good visible indicator on the headset to denote charge. Their is a light to denote when the headset is enabled, and it blinks when the battery is low. The same light also goes red when the device is charging, too. It's not that great, but at least it's something. Their is also a pleasing voice to say when you need to charge, but even she doesn't give a solid value. Now, I'll also repeat what I said earlier, as it belongs more here.... you CANNOT remove the headset battery. Considering that a lot of headsets don't have this, it's no biggie, but it is a feature on some headsets around this price point (that make good competition). Considering the price, and when this was released, I would have expected this, from this price point. Make them removable, and make it so I can order more from Audeze, or in this case, Scan.Lastly, software support. Audeze does offer a PC application, but... I've never used it. Thankfully, this is no need to. Other software, FOSS software offers the same functionality. This headset does not do anything special like the Audeze Mobius, so why would I use proprietary software? Same goes for the mobile devices, with them offing a mobile application. I can't speak for how good that is, but it does seem positively reviewed, something quite uncommon for proprietary audio apps, forced on you by companies.

The audio is superb theres no denying that, but that cant be the only thing you have going for your wireless gaming headset. Bought these for my Series X and within an hour of use i already submitted them for a refund through Amazon. Microphone quality is sub-par for a 300 dollar headset, when my friends could even hear me. The game audio world work, but the chat audio would cut out. Either my friends voices would cut in and out, or mine would. All while the game audio was uninterrupted. The material used for the earcups definitely didnt feel like it would be comfortable for long game sessions, and this is a more subjective problem i had with the product but they werent made for people with big heads like me. Last but not least the controls were garbage. Mixing chat and game audio was horribly confusing and clunky. Dual input for wireless/bluetooth was a chour to use also. Bottom line is it basically felt like all the cost of this headset went into the fancy drivers. Those are swell, but when nothing else works on the headset, it kinda makes the amazing audio quality a mute point. I'll be all over the next iteration of these headphones if the problems get ironed out. I'd gladly pay 300 bucks if they actually worked.
A lot of research went into buying a new pair of headphones, with primary use cases being for studying and gaming. Audeze have released several firmware updates and look to continue this trend so i'm optimistic that these issues will be sorted and i believe they are not affecting the majority of headsets. In my own case i had to return my first pair, the right earcup had a terrible noise everytime i moved my head which i can only assume was a component not glued properly that was bashing around. Completely unusable.I had however noted the sound quality was insane! For the 5 minutes the headphones didn't have the horrible bashing around noise it the experience of listening to music was bliss. So i gave them a second chance and ordered another pair.So far, touch wood, I've had no issues with my second pair and i absolutely love them. I spend at least 8hrs a day with these on my head and wear blue light glasses and they are very comfortable.I do wish they would improve the 2.4g wireless connection distance as i can't really venture too far away from the dongle, maybe 5 meters? But i am hopeful this gets updated in a firmware update.Overall i recommend you buy these but be wary they may have some teething issues.
