For sometimeI ummmed and errrred (not good for a VO wannabe!) Personally, I made teh right choice. If "almost" every studio has one then it must do something right. And it does. Great microphone. It's a tight market in that spot for a first time or handy kit to have I highly recommend this mic. Not I'm not being paid to say this. Great value

The accessories part of the kit are pretty good and useful. I was not impress by the functionality of the Mic. The Mic, doesn't pick up your voice unless you are very close to it. If you increase the volume on the Mixer, then you get a feedback. My Mixer console is the Yamaha MG10-XU. I have another Mic, a Seneheiser and sounds better than this AT2020. Since I'm not 100% satisfied with the Mic, the Mic is boxed-up and ready to go on the market. I will keep the accessories, but the Mic got to go. Planning to sell and purchase the same Mic, but the USB model instead, which I think will be a better option, so I read. Thank you.

This is an awesome mic if you use it right, but it can be a little tricky, since it is extremely sensitive, and while it technically has a cardioid pattern, it's gonna pick up everything in the room. Also, make sure whatever you're plugging it into has 48v phantom power, and make sure the cable you're using has XLR on both ends, since most interfaces only connect power to XLR. Because of these things, here is a list of things you absolutely need to have if you want to get the most out of this mic. 1. An interface/preamp/mixer/etc. with 48v phantom power 2. A mic cable with XLR on both ends 3. A shockmount (this mic will pick up handling noise and floor vibrations otherwise) 4. A stand (this is not the kind of mic you hold and dance around the stage with) 5. If you happen to be into the technology side of audio Engineering this piece of gear (tool) is a great starting point, these are some of its features. 1.Side-Address Studio Condenser 2. Cardioid Pattern Rejects Off-Axis Sound 3.Superior Transient Response 144 dB SPL Handling wide, Linear Frequency Response and a Low-Mass Diaphragm. The capsule features a low-mass, side-address diaphragm with a cardioid polar pattern for rejecting ambiance and noise at the off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. A linear frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz enables the flexibility to accurately reproduce signals from a wide variety of sources.
Amazing microphone for the price. I'm a business owner and make videos and do a lot of calls for my company. This microphone sounds so good I've had people take their earphones out and literally ask "why did my earphone quality just get so much better?" Because my voice sounded THAT crisp. It's also light, easy to set up, it looks phenomenal. I love the blue light that turns on when you plug the mic in.
This is a great microphone. One thing that cannot be understated here is the quality. The clarity is great and the fact that this does not capture all of that background noise is perfect. One issue i had with a previous microphone was interference from the electronic components affecting the audio. This has not been an issue with this mic. The finish of this is fantastic. I was terribly happy with the long USB cord provided. The carry bag keeps it nice and safe when not in use. Bravo AT.
I've been using the AT2020 for 13 years now. I pair it with the Rodes NT1a, but the AT2020 is my go to mic. I love the warm and flat sound it gives. I patch it in to my Apollo Twin vocal chain. It sounds GREAT in post, makes it easy for mixing. I track all types of genre of vocalist from Neo Soul, R&B, Reggae, to Rap and Pop also a few Spoken Work/ Poetry projects were tracked using the AT2020 as well. I LOVE this microphone, especially for the low price.
I only have one small negative thing to say and that is that it does not come with an XLR cable, which is obviously very important to this product. Personally I believe such a vital piece of equipment should be provided with microphone or midi/interface. This one does not come with one. Other than this small inconveniences, this product is high quality and as described. It looks fantastic and professional as well as delivering high quality performance out the box. I was set up for the product so it was very easy to use, however, those new to the XLR and condenser game may find that they will need to play and fiddle with settings and levels. It is not difficult but it is not necessarily fun either. Overall I can not fault the company as they did not claim to send a XLR mic and it was my own assumption and previous experience that caused the dissatisfaction.
So this is the same great AT-2020 Condenser microphone with a built-in AD converter for USB recording. GREAT option for recording yourself playing through an amp at home or in the studio with a computer. It's a big big step up from any built in microphone on a camera or phone, and the price is not bad. You can often find this on sale for the same price as it's non-USB version. It features its own volume control as well as a headphone jack and built in headphone amp with its own volume control, allowing for monitoring of the signal outside of the computer you're recording on.Sound wise this is a very nice mic. I use it to record and compare various amps, tubes, guitars, pickups. There's only one teeny tiny negative and that's that the tripod is a bit off-center and easily tips over if you don't arrange to have one leg sticking out directly under the microphone. Not even worth taking off a star though as it's rarely a real problem.
I have used this in the past with great results, and now repurchased for a project. I am sure there are better mics out there, but for this price, it will blow you away. Pro`s: A very nice sound profile, well built, Just works for many scenarios. Con`s: Since its sensitive, careful with monitor speakers and places with a lot of feedback.
