Overall:Purchased these headphones in November 2023 and cannot be more satisfied. For the price, they’re absolutely incredible and I’d stack them up against units costing twice as much. Very lightweight and comfortable on the ears, doesn’t make me sweat around the ears at all, they’re adjustable and fit very well, sound quality is crisp and clear in all frequency ranges. Long term durability remains to be seen but I’ve used them for probably 40 total hours of mixing and they aren’t showing any wear at all.

Every time the wire gets caught under the wheels of my office chair (remember: not coiled) and I trip over it nearly every time I attempt to leave the room, launching the headset across the room. Surprisingly, the head mounts haven't broken yet, but every time it falls I cringe. By now I should just have faith in the design, but it really does not seem like it will stand up to too many more trips over wires.I'd love to see a sort of stress test on those head mounts to put my mind at peace about them, but they really look weak. Although I love the sound, I can't trust them for on-the-road use, and because of that I don't think my next pair of headphones will be ATs.

Comes in sealed box (must cut seal sticker to open). Item looks brand new, works perfectly. Documentation included. Probably the only noticeable difference (for being factory reconditioned) is the plain white box, not colorful retain packaging. These headphones sound excellent. My first set of higher-end BIG headphones that are open-air and fit completely over ears (thick cushy pads rest on side of head). They are comfortable to wear, surprisingly light. I notice they sound better on my M1 MacBook Pro compared to my iPad. It may be because my MacBooks specs say it has advanced support for high-impedance headphones. On my iPad, the sound is loud enough but less crisp, not terrible but noticeable. The AD700X seems to be designed with a couple purposes in mind: Soundstage, and mids. These focuses create a headphone that is particularly amazing for certain vocal oriented genres, but will end up a bit lacking for things with a lot of kick in the low end such as hip hop. Some genres that I find sound immaculate on these include JPop, Chamber Folk, and Shoegaze.
Excellent Sound Quality... stunning vocals and full mids... the bass does not thump, but the tones are clear and present. These are NOT for commuter use on the train nor someone looking for hard hitting EDM basslines... these are well suited for genres with live acoustic instruments and sounds engineered to emulate a live stage. While good for epic movies with larger than life orchestral scores and sound tracks, the lack of subwoofer type bass, may diminish the excitement during hi speed action sequences. When used for conference calls / meetings, they provide very realistic voice reproduction. These are not meant for active excercise or mobile use. There is no noise cancellation or isolation. The 3-D Wing design provides a very light clamping force, and lets the listener get comfortable to a point one almost forgets the head band is even there. The plastics used for this band, aren't the worlds greatest... but they shouldn't break when used as intended. Cons: Non Detachable cable, Most available inexpensive headphone stands are too short to keep the cable from bending/contacting surface.
Sorry, but these are far too harsh and brittle in the higher frequencies, and too thin and weak in the low frequencies. Very accurate but sterile and harsh - you hear it all, but it sounds harsh, brittle, and annoying over long listening sessions. I sold them. Better choices: ATH-M50 (but a bit thick on the low end) or the ATH-M40x (just right, with highly accurate, but realistic and musical sounding balance from high to low) - Superlux (yes, they are really good) - Austrian Audio Hi X15 (very accurate and lovely balanced smooth and realistic musical sound - really good choice) - these are all more pleasant to listen with. Unfortunate audio profile is thin and anemic - lacking solid, full bass response and overly sibilant and crispy treble response. Very bright and almost harsh from mid-range frequencies to lower treble frequencies. Overly large, unrealistic sound stage - instruments feel far away - which is OK for large room recordings, such as symphonies and other large venues (e.g. a rock or bluegrass band on a large stage), but it does not sound right for small room studio recordings - one's headphones should not color the music in any way and making a small venue sound big is a form of distortion or sound ... MoreVery light weight, comfortable cans. Quite disappointed in these cans. Much too much treble - over bright and sibilant. Mid range is present, but harsh and brassy. Bass is missing in action. Sound stage is too large and sound is anemic, and substantial EQ,sounds artificial. I sold my pair to a ham radio operator who has no interest in bass - just clear mid range covering the frequency spectrum used by human speech. They look expensive, yet feel delicate and fragile in the hand, with insufficient clamping force for even large heads. The bat wings that are part of the over-head band are useless. Overall a disappointing product from AudioTechnica - and I have several other AT headphones and the BPHS1 broadcast headset - all of which are excellent.Just My take. Your mileage may vary. JR

The fit is nice, they are fairly lightweight. The "wings" are a neat feature, but on my head did not apply enough pressure around my ears, and felt as though they slipping down on my jaw. I have come to realize all sound reproducing systems (headphones, speakers, etc.) have their own tonal characteristics, or coloration. These headphones are capable of reproducing sound from below hearing to above hearing. Having said that, they are not "bass heavy". The bass is truly very deep, but needs a little push. To that end, using an amp, or some EQ will make these headphones light up.These have an "in the middle" soundstage, as though you were on stage with performers - whereas my Beyerdynamic seem to be a bit more "open soundstage" - as though you were in audience.Overall, for the price, a very nice sounding set of cans that do justice to your listening.
