Audio Technica ATH-GDL3 Open-Back High-Fidelity Gaming Headset - Black
The Audio Technica ATH-GDL3 Open-Back Gaming Headset is inspired by Japanese audio craftsmanship to deliver a natural, immersive sound, perfect for gaming. Unlike the ATH-GL3, this headset provides an open-back design to allow for a wider soundstage and more immersive gaming experience. Boasting high-quality 45 mm drivers, the ATH-GDL3 headset guarantees hi-res audio that optimises all game genres, whether it's a first-person shooter or action/adventure. This design also uses less material than closed-back headsets, resulting in an extremely light weight of only 220 grams that offers superb comfort during long-lasting gaming sessions. Taking the immersion further, the detachable boom microphone offers highly directional pickup, meaning your voice can be heard clearly when communicating with your fellow gamers. The ATH-GDL3 even comes fitted with built-in volume and mute controls, giving you instant, easy management over the microphone. Using the provided detachable cables, you'll be able to directly connect this versatile headset to both PCs and various game consoles such as PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and Xbox Series X. Packed with potent audio features, the ATH-GDL3 is a must-have for those looking to enjoy long hours of gaming.

These headphones are okay, out of the box the build leaves much to be desired. They creak and crack when adjusting them and the cable seems to be a one off connector for these headphones. Its larger than a 3.5mm but smaller than a 6.3mm so using a better, thinner cable is a no go. These are also very bright headphones meaning that they are quite harsh in the high frequency ranges. Sounds like Ss and Ts are quite piercing but that's to be expected since these are gaming headphones and that kind of driver tuning helps with footsteps and such in games. If your going to use these for music and movies too, I'd suggest using and EQ on them to bring down the harshness of the high end around the 5k-8k range. Once you do though they sound quite nice and if you bring up the bass (around 62hz) then they get a nice tight thump to them. Overall they are a decent pair of headphones that need a bit of work to get sounding ideal.

Sound is pretty lackluster, headset is very creaky, so much so the mic will pick it up. Cord for pc is pretty short. Comfortable though

I bought this headset to replace my work issued dell one. Sound quality is excellent. Very comfortable over ear design and lightweight for all day use. Mic sounds good also. Open backed headphones give a nice wide feel but wouldn't be ideal for those with lots of sound around them such as traffic or a noisy office space. Overall satisfied with my purchase. On sale and free delivery.
Most comfortable headphones I’ve ever worn. Open back is great for the hot days. Got good bass as well while I play Mass Effect 2. Sounds good to me. The microfibre ear pad material does not cause sweat unlike leather. No regret upgrading from HyperX Alpha and that’s rated highly as well.
Very comfortable, decent build quality, super light and the open back design stops them getting too hot while wearing for long periods of time. They do feel a little 'cheap', but I think that's just a feeling that's inherent with the lightweight design, I think they'll hold up over the long term. Out of the box they sound a bit too 'muddy' for my tastes. I use Audio-Technica's M50X for music, and prior to this purchase the HyperX Cloud 2 headset for gaming, so those are my comparisons. I wouldn't recommend these if you just want to plug and play, other opinions may differ, but I found their out of the box sound unpleasant. If you know the sound you're looking for and are willing to put in the effort, I'm sure you could use equalizing software to improve them, but ... MoreVery comfortable, decent build quality, super light and the open back design stops them getting too hot while wearing for long periods of time. If you know the sound you're looking for and are willing to put in the effort, I'm sure you could use equalizing software to improve them, but that's not what I'm after in a gaming headset. I ended up plugging them in to my old HyperX USB soundcard that came with the old headphones and find the sound much better. One thing to note, when plugging the detachable cord into the headset, it needs to be pushed all the way in. It may feel like its plugged in, but you need to make sure otherwise your mic will play up. Overall they're not a bad set of headphones, but certainly not up to scratch with Audio-Technica's non-gaming options. Unless you're really into the aesthetic or just a massive Audio-Technica fan, I'd strongly recommend the HyperX Cloud 2 as they're an equal or better sound, a better out of the box, plug and play experience, and easily the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. I don't necessarily regret this purchase, but I'd certainly buy the HyperX if I could do it over. My last ones lasted since their release up until last week when the left speaker stopped working, likely water damage from recent floods.
Microphone is of exceeding poor quality, even for a gaming orientated headset. The sound quality is also incredibly lacking considering the pedigree that Audio Technica has for producing actually good headphones.
I was excited to try out this headset, but it wasn't what I expected it to be. the mic quality isn't all that good, I can hear way too much background noise to the point in which I can listen to my PC 2.5 Ft away. It makes your ears feel muffled and like you have water in them. The only thing good about this honestly is that it is somewhat comfortable about the only thing you got right on it. The open-back look is cool but just not good for use as I want nor is it good at all, there's a reason the top-of-the-line headsets don't have it. Honestly don't even want to give it to someone else to use because of how much of an atrocity this headset is. My $60 Turtle Beach headset was better than this and I was only going to use it temporarily. I've been using this headset for about 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. It's so lightweight and comfortable. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a overall well balanced soundstage gaming headset.
I share a home office with my wife. With my previous sets of closed back, isolating headphones I found myself shouting and getting hot and sweaty ears after long calls. These are a game changer on both fronts. I can hear myself and my surroundings well and they also have an excellent balanced sound unlike closed back which tend to be more bass biased. Side note - i am often complimented on how good the microphone sounds.
