Audio Technica Ath M50xBT2 Lab Studio Headphones w/ Bluetooth (Limited Edition)

Ordered and paid July 15, came July 22. Package arrived safely despite having just one layer of bubble wrap. Item is legit and all inclusions complete. All functions were also working perfectly upon unboxing.I previously owned the OG M50x but eventually sold it. I missed having them for their sound isolation whenever I want to spend an undisturbed listening session. Luckily, I found this newer version with BT at its 2nd generation.I was not disappointed at all upon testing the M50xBT2. I only vaguely remember the sound of the OG M50x but I doubt there will be a night and day difference between them. I think replacing the pads will though. For a closed-back, they are good enough for me. No fatiguing treble, just right amount of subbass, decent midbass punch, vocals are good for most of the genres I listen to.Satisfied customer here for getting these at half the price compared to other sellers here and at the other platform. I used to have M30x and I loved them, but their frame crumbled into dust with years of use. I was looking for exactly the same sound quality but wireless, so I picked the best Bluetooth option A-T is offering. M50xBT2 turned out to be noticeably worse sound-wise, enough for me to decide to return them. However, I tested a few other higher-end options such as the popular Momentum 4 and w1000 xm5, and none of them was good enough compared to my old wired A-Ts! The Sonys and Sennheisers are cool and way more functional, but the sound is just not as clear as the BT2s. It might be just personal preference, but in the end I skipped the more expensive options from other companies and kept my BT2s. As I am using on a pc I purchased an asus BT dongle to improve the BT connection. I've used the headphones in dual link mode, connected to my computer and my phone. I normally stream audio and/or video on my computer, but when I get a notification from my phone, it pauses the streaming if it's a phone call, but if it's just something like a text or other type of notification the sound comes through and the streaming continues without pausing.The technical department is very good at trying to satisfy the customer. One of the best technical departments I've ever worked with, not only for knowledge but also for their customer service.I wear these headphones all day every day, and they're very comfortable. Missing a few features for the price

I've had these headphones for over a year now. I mainly use them for gaming, but do sometimes use them for Teams calls for work and occasionally for listening to higher fidelity music. I've largely been happy with them. They're comfortable to wear (for me, at least) and audio quality has been good, whether over Bluetooth or via the 3.5mm input.That said, these phones are missing a few things.For one, they have the hardware for active noice cancelling (ANC), and yet it's not implemented in the firmware. For the price, I would expect ANC to be implemented. There is currently no way to force the phones to act only as headphones and not as a headset without silly workarounds. When having things like Discord open, audio quality dips significantly and the headphones pass on through ambient noise because they expect to be used as microphone input. And to build off of this, the audio quality during calls is generally poor.Finally, replacing cups is a giant pain. My dogs ended up shredding one of the cups and I thought I was going to tear the replacement trying to get it on.

Outstanding

I care about two things when it comes to headphones: sound quality and comfort.These headphones get an A in both categories.I have an older set of M50X (wired) and these sound basically identical.I love jazz, classical and anything instrumental. These are perfect for that.Clarity is outstanding with clear high and beautiful mids.The headphones were almost bass heavy out of the box but that cleared up in only 10 hours or so. Now the bass is perfect. not over powering but certainly present.The only negative is soundstage. Superb studio headphones

My old headphones got pretty ratty, and after doing some research I originally planned to buy the much cheaper Audio Technica ATH-M20xBT since it had reasonable reviews. But instore, I listened to those and then worked my way up to this one. I was blown away. I could not go back to one I originally selected... it sounded no better than my old headphones. But these ones were really a cut above - full sound-stage and frequency response, no corners cut. Punchy bass and clear treble. Very good external sound isolation with the over-ear design (these are not noise-cancelling - not the intended purpose). I ended up spending a lot more than I planned but you get what you pay for. Also, it doesn't support BT-AptX. It has a low-latency mode, and selectable codecs using the AT App, but Qualcomm's AptX is not one of them.

Weird headphone, this actually need burn in…

This headphone is weird, it actually needs a small burn in. Kind of hard to believe in this day and age….When I first opened this, the audio was terrible!! Scratchy treble that sounded super cheap! Anyways, I almost returned it. But I decided to give it another try…. Just because I have been hearing about this headphone a lot…. And now I’m keeping it.Few things:- there is no ANC / no active noise cancelling. This is just noise isolation from the ear pads.- this is closed ear, but it is not the biggest ear pad size… this may be a little small for people with large ears. Should try this out in the store.- I could use this headphone without the phone app. I rather use this without EQ.- the sound profile is generally flat. Not an ear candy headphone.
