Audio Technica ATR2x-USB 3.5mm to USB Digital Audio Adapter

I have recently upgraded my PC to a NUC and the new is very small and compact, so no audio jack point, so I needed to find an adaptor to the USB ports. Product works great and small and tidy solution for my audio speakers.

Bought this to connect a Rode Go lavalier mic directly to Android phone running the Open Camera app (with external mic as input source). Worked brilliantly. The built-in mic on the Samsung S9 is good, but clean audio can't be beat. Loses a star for: (a) thin connector wire and cheap plastic controls - hope it lasts given the price; (b) bug/feature where adjusting the volume switch starts and stops the Open Camera recording.

Audio-Technica lives-up to its broadcast roots with this prosumer adapter. Give your computer enough time (up to a minute) to recognize the adapter EACH time you boot-up or plug it in, then check your Windows 10 Sound Settings to confirm that it’s recognized as both the output (speaker) and the input (microphone). After that, I’ve always been able to use most combinations of externalmicrophones and earpieces (consumer, prosumer and professional). A couple mics and earpieces didn’t work, but the vast majority did. Great piece of engineering for more than one large niche of potential users.

Great work around for my issue

My on-board sound died. Spent a half-hour trying to track down drivers etc. Plugged this little device in and was back in sound immediately.

The perfect setup for FPS

Works great with Audio-Technica Detachable Boom Microphone & Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X. Plugging the mic directly into the computer did not deliver enough power, this adapter fixed the issue.

Works but limited frequency response on my Android

I bought this to enable me to simultaneously monitor audio and use an external microphone. As others have indicated, the construction feels cheap and plasticky. On my Android device (Samsung S21 Ultra), the device worked, but with noticeably missing bass response in music and some background hiss. I did not buy this to listen to music, so those limitations don't affect my use. The dedicated mute button is a super-clever idea that works, and there is an LED that confirms it is connected.

I have a Rode TRS lav mic that I wished to use for recording instructional videos on my 13 MacBook Pro with 4 USB-C slots and no audio port. I was hoping that I could use a standard USB-C adapter with an 3.5mm audio in/out port for this purpose, but after trying several different adapters the microphone was never recognized by the Mac. Enter this dongle, which worked fine and saved me from having to continue the struggle. The reason for my 3-star rating is that the device feels flimsy and I do not expect it to stand the test of time. The cable is excessively narrow and flexible, the USB-C plug feels as though it will pull off the cable easily, and the plastic box with the ports feel as though it will shatter with a single drop. Works with plug-in power mics

I needed an adapter to plug my Rode VideoMic GO, which requires plug-in power, into my iMac. This works! It powers the mic but still allows me to play audio through the built in speakers, which was not possible with a simple splitter. However, there is a noticeable hiss from the mic audio. I think this is more likely from the mic, not the adapter, and your results may vary. Overall good product that does what it says it will do.

worry free headset adapter

bought it so i could use my Sennheiser Game One headset with a chromebook or on my android phone, mic volume is spot on with this headset which is good considering the lack of mic volume adjustment available in those OSes, adapter included allows me to use it on PC also if my sound card goes out or is just acting out. volume of the output gets more than loud enough. The rocker on the side of the device adjusts the volume in the OS, its not internal hardware adjustments. easily worth the price. I didn't test the mute button since the headset I used has built in mute with mic boom being pushed up.
