Upon testing and listening to these headphones I have come to the conclusion that they are either defective, or were damaged in shipping. There is a highly noticeable rattle that can be heard in the Right (R) earmuff when the driver is producing certain frequencies, it also happens when the volume is increased beyond a certain level.I am also not a fan of the low end frequency response, in my ears I find it to be severely lacking, and the piercing clarity of the mid and treble frequencies completely overdrives the soundstage.The included cord lengths are also much to short to be considered usable in a variety of applications.The ear pads themselves are not quite beefy enough to protect someone with larger ears like myself from the driver dome, and do a poor job ... I've used the headphones in dual link mode, connected to my computer and my phone. I normally stream audio and/or video on my computer, but when I get a notification from my phone, it pauses the streaming if it's a phone call, but if it's just something like a text or other type of notification the sound comes through and the streaming continues without pausing.The technical department is very good at trying to satisfy the customer. I do not understand why the microphone is so inconsistent, but it isn't bad.I wouldn't recommend this to a friend because, besides potential issues hearing them when chatting, they may already have an external microphone. In which case, I wouldn't recommend they buy a headset that doesn't have an alternate cable for casual listening like the PDG1's did.

I only asked for the rotator wrist components (the part that broke, which looking at reviews of all of AT's headsets seems to be the #1 common issue) to be replaced when I sent it in. The price of repair was ~1/3rd less than getting an entirely new set (I'll let you calc out the math on that one), and folks! People! My comrades in soundwave appreciation arms! This was my first step into wireless earbuds. I've always been a wired guy, but much to my dismay phone companies don't like headphone jacks anymore. Buying an attachment to listen wired wasn't working for me. Dongles kept getting frayed, and re-purchased. Annoying to deal with. I never needed any fancy earbuds, and these looked perfect for me. Got them on sale, and I've been enjoying them. Work right out of the box, they sound great, and they're easy to use. I'm mainly listening to music and podcasts while I work, while taking an occasional call. Only issue I've really had is Bluetooth cutting out for like a split second during a song, and tapping on the buds not working right away when I need to pause. Something I'm not used to being generally a wired-in guy.
I'm in my early 50's and my music listening experience changed drastically last year when I bough the first pair of these. The difference between this and all the other headphones I had used before, many of them also from Audio Technica, is remarkable. Those other headphones were great, like the very popular ATH-M50x, but the ATH-MSR7b are absolute perfection. The sound is crystal clear, and the stereo separation is excellent. I'm able to hear instruments in albums that I hadn't noticed before.Paired with an excellent DAC like the Qudelix 5K, these headphones will give you a listening experience that will be far above everything else.The only things that I criticize from them are:1) The cable is too short and the surface is rather rubbery, so it gets stuck on ... For example, many times I turn my desk chair, and the DAC falls down and dangles from the cable.2) The left and right channels are so poorly marked that I actually had to create two labels, one with L and the other with R to stick them on them to tell the sides apart. This is true for the headphones themselves but also for the detachable cables that plug to each side, which have a tiny L and R that are very difficult to read. This is especially problematic because labels from a typical label maker don't stick to the small plugs.3) They come with two cables, one for unbalanced 3.5mm and the other for balanced 4.4mm, but no cable or adapter for balanced 2.5mm, so if you have a Qudelix 5k for example, you need to buy a separate cable.4) The plugs in these two cables are L shaped, so they are a pain sometimes.But these things are just minor inconveniences when the amazing sound quality is taken into account.Best headphones I ever had, so much that I bought two pairs (one of each color) and that's all I will ever need.
