Was skeptical at first being a fan of the vintage turntables. Boy is this heavy duty and nice! Great deal and service at Visions. I play this through the phono stage on my 2000s marantz stereo receiver and it sounds glorious. Makes old records inherited from parents that were barely playable on my previous plastic tt sound good again.Really great job by audio Technica for a quiet direct drive TT at a fair price. The black color is much darker in the actual TT than in the picture (pic is more of a platinum color) which makes absolutely great looking on my shelf as well!

I've had about 20 years of experience with this family of product. About 15 years ago, I had the OEM source of them make me a container full of a modified version for my customers. They did everything well and were quite reliable! Now, I just buy the AT and to the adaption as required. The AT version has a basically flat platter, accurate speed, decent arm, and pretty accurate RIAA compensation. They are quite reliable. When I sell my adaption, customers only praise it, never complain about it. If you want tighter specs, just pay some one else twice as much!

For a number of months, well okay over a year, I had been reading top 5 and top 10 lists for entry level turntables, receivers and speakers. Adding items to my wish list on Amazon, but never pulling the trigger. When one thing or another kept turning up 'not available' I decided to bite the bullet and buy what I wanted right now. I found my choice for turntable at B&H. I received it sooner than I expected, in perfect condition. Set up was simple and in less than an hour I was enjoying long idle LPs. Build quality, simplicity of operation and sound quality are all completely satisfying. Wish I hadn't waited so long, but glad I found it here. I am completely satisfied.

I love this turntable! What an upgrade for me. Totally boosted my listening experience. I have been collecting vinyl for approx. 30 years but always had various low end automatic turntables. I was using an old Sony PS-LX250H that i bought in 2001.I have had a renewed interest in vinyl again and purchased many new records recently and noticed the sound was not what it used to be. Some of that could be due to hearing loss...lol That being said it sounded weak and and very lack luster through my old turntable.I researched many turntables online and for the price this one fit the budget and my needs.Set up was pretty easy even for a newby to manual turntables.I got to say I was pretty stoked setting this thing together, it felt really sturdy and worth the money. I plugged it in and hoped that it would sound as good as it looked and I have to tell you that I was blown away.My speakers came alive and I was listening to my favorite songs and hearing them like it was the first time. Crisp highs and full sounding mids and bass were all present in a way I had never heard before. Super stoked to have found this turntable. My music types are 80's,90's punk rock, All forms of Classic rock and Metal (Lamb of God,Slayer, Whitechapel) as well as Pink Floyd, Lynard Skynard, The Smith's, Incubus.and so on.

Excellent value, slightly marred by acoustic feedback in certain circumstances.

Assembly and operation first-rate. This is not a DJ turntable - as a result, an elliptical stylus is supplied, which is better for lower record wear AND better sound, all things being equal.A standard issue with lower-cost direct drive turntables [vs. belt] is that the top plate of the turntable can pick up sound [acoustic feedback], either from the speakers in the room, or [extreme case] tapping top plate with fingers that will be heard along with music... So caution in turntable placement and handling during use is advised. Two stars deducted due to lack of acoustic isolation, but one star added back due to very good isolating feet - ironically, best location for turntable turned out to be on top of floor speaker - that is, indirect sound does not affect ... MoreAssembly and operation first-rate. Great replacement for aging turntable.
7 May 2023

Lots of bells and whistles for DJs, but I'm not a DJ. My last turntable (belt drive from the 80s similar to Project) started rumbling, likely worn motor bearing. Despite cheaper plastic body, I love the direct drive and strobe, plus cuing light. It took my Shure M97 and Ortofon 2M and I got very good sound without the rumble. Haven't tried the USB feature yet, but this will help me achieve my goal of listening to my 2500 LPs before I kick off.

Love the Turntable; Needed Documentation
2 December 2019

Note: I have not (yet) used the USB output port. However, I love the turntable. Currently only using the analog output ports. Don't know how long the direct drive will last before speed deviation or failure. However, previous turntable was 1983 Technics direct drive, which failed in 2008, and this AT machine appears to be as good or better. After 3 months, all is well. Pitch adjust slide control (drive speed) has not required adjustment at all since initial setup. This is a very solid/stable machine. Internal preamp/selector switch works well and is something you definitely want to look for in a turntable (whether using USB or analog). Internal preamp/selector switch works well and is something you definitely want to look for in a turntable (whether using USB or analog). The operating controls are convenient and work well - only exception is the tonearm lift control lever, which slips if only lifted part of the way to the top (be careful when using this). If you lift the tonearm completely using the lever, it won't slip down [at least not yet]. The only documentation that came in the box was a quick setup guide with typical cryptic graphics and no clear text. This was fine for assembly, but was insufficient for setup of the tonearm (unless you set these up all the time and you already know what to do). A complete user manual (.pdf) can be downloaded at manualslib.com. The user manual available at that site is clear and accurate and provides complete information for setting up the cartridge, anti-skate control, and tonearm counterweight, as well as for future maintenance. At the B&H price this is a great product for high-quality home audio.

Top equipment for price point.

Whenever I write a review on stereo equipment I try to keep in mind the price point involved. In a hobby as large and diverse as as hifi stereo equipment I feel one has to consider the area in which the manufacturer has tried to position the product. When reviewing equipment I try to place the product within one of three major divisions: 1) Audiophile Equipment, 2) HiFi Equipment, and 3) Basic Stereo Equipment.Audiophile being high end with high prices established because the buyers desire the best possible sound. HiFi for those who desire great sound but cannot afford the prices of Audiophile Equipment. HiFi for those who desire great sound but cannot afford the prices of Audiophile Equipment. Basic Stereo for those who simply want to hear music. This offering by Audio Technica belongs in the HiFi group. As it stands in the HiFi group this is a very good if not excellent turntable. I have owned one for three months and have yet to find fault. To begin with, Audio Technica employed direct drive to spin the table. Direct drive is more reliable (how be it, not as quiet) than the alternative belt drive. Yet if the direct drive produced unwanted noise from the motor, it was not noticeable. The product has speed adjustment with an easily readable strobe to adjust and observe the speed. A quartz lock mechanism is provided to maintain turntable speed. Also included is adjustable anti skate control and tone arm balance to control the tracking force. These accessories are necessary is one wants to use or upgrade to a different cartridges. However, the turntable comes with a very good premounted Atvm95e magnetic cartridge by Audio Technica. Also, if the owner is satisfied with the provided cartridge, he may replace the stylus and keep the cartridge when the original stylus is worn out.One more point to add, this is a manual turntable. You will have to place the stylus onto the vinyl and pick it up at the end of play. Though not a problem it is something to consider.Highly recommended.

Vinyl comes full circle
2 July 2020

I collected 45's as a kid spending most of my allowance on whatever radio tune had my ear that week. I had maybe 100 or so LP's over the years but jumped on cassettes and then CDs as they came out. Here it is 40+ years after my last allowance was spent and I've decided to start collecting vinyl again. My girlfriend gifted me a Jensen turntable and a couple of records a few years ago for my birthday and I used it periodically picking up vinyl at yard sales and the like. The sound playing through my stereo was marginal with no bottom end and got me to thinking about how much I like the ritual of playing records and I wanted them to sound better. Long lead in but that's what got me looking into a turntable upgrade. I made a great choice. Set up required some research to balance and align the tone arm correctly but there are several good vids online that detail what to do. Going to the record store to browse is a throwback to my youth. For the casual listener this turntable is more than adequate.

Well Made Unit With Nice Features
28 April 2021

I received this turntable exactly as described, well packaged and on schedule. Hooking it up was mostly simple with instructions that could have been a little more detailed. It comes with Quick Start instructions and the full manual can be found online. The features I was looking for were: fully manual (less to break down), direct drive (no more belt replacements) and digital recording via USB capability (havent tested the USB yet). The stylus target light comes in handy if you have the turntable somewhere not well lit. It comes with all the cables required to complete installation. The RCA cable for hooking up with my receiver/tuner was too short (4 feet) for my application so I needed to purchase a longer one. The only real negative is that the felt platter mat sticks to and comes off when you remove a record from the turntable. Probably static electricity. I will try some double sided tape or replace it with a cork or rubber platter mat. Everything operates as it should and it really does sound noticeably better than the turntable it replaced. I would recommend this turntable to anyone looking for the features that this one offers.
