Audio Technica has done a fantastic job with this new LP70X turntable. The table comes in 2 versions. The LP70X series is their belt drive fully automatic table which in also available in a Bluetooth version the LP70XBT. I received the Bluetooth version, and it is great for connecting to my powered Bluetooth speakers as well as my portable speakers and headphones. It is available in 3 colors consisting of black/silver, black/bronze and white/silver. I received the black/silver version, and it is stunning. The table is simple to set up. It is available in 3 colors consisting of black/silver, black/bronze and white/silver. I received the black/silver version, and it is stunning. The table is simple to set up. The LP70 comes preassembled with an Audio Technica VM95C cartridge which is significant as you can upgrade the stylus with any of the ATVM95 series styluses. This is a major upgrade over the LP60 table which can only have the AT3600L stylus replaced but not upgraded. The LP70 now comes with a J shaped tone arm with a fixed stylus. There is no counterbalance or anti skate as these are preset at the factory. Unlike the LP60 the controls for start, stop and speed selection (45/78) are on top of the table under the dust cover instead of on the front of the table. Switching between 7” and 12” records is via a switch at the back of the table. Audio Technica added a tone arm lift like more conventional tables as well as a tone arm lock when the tone arm is at rest. Both the LP70X and LP70XBT have a built-in preamp that is switchable. The table can be used with a receiver with a built-in preamp, or you can use the tables built in preamp if connecting to a receiver or powered speakers that do not have a preamp built in. The table has RCA jacks with a grounding lug as opposed to a 3.5mm connection like the LP60. The table comes with grounded RCA cables as well. At a little under 7lbs this is not a very heavy table, but Audio Technica has designed the suspension to absorb vibration, and it does a great job. I have a couple of other tables, one of which weighs in at 36lbs and I was surprised at how well the AT dampened vibrations. I connected the Bluetooth table to various speakers including powered speakers, portable Bluetooth speakers, headphones and my Dolby Atmos soundbar and everything worked flawlessly. I also connected the table to my powered speakers using the tables built in preamp and it also worked perfect. I actually didn’t notice a big difference between using the built-in preamp versus the Bluetooth and considering how many options Bluetooth gives me I’ll probably end up using this option more than the built-in preamp. Speed issues seem to be an issue with some of the lower tier tables, but I found the LP70 to be spot on speed wise. There are adjustments on the bottom of the table to adjust speed for both 33 and 45 if necessary. So how does it sound. I had an unopened Super Disk copy of Carly Simons Boys in the Trees from 1978 that I bought brand new back in 1978, and it sounds amazing on this table. When connected to speakers and headphones costing significantly more than this table it is just an outstanding experience. I also connected to powered speakers costing around the same price as this table and they sound great too. At $249.00 this has got to be one of the best value entry level turntables out there and a great way to get started in the hobby. Even for someone who has been in the hobby for a long time the convenience and sound quality of this table is amazing considering the cost. This is a really impressive table in both appearance and performance, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get started listening to vinyl. Audio Technica continues their legacy of providing great products and listening experience.

Nothing was more exciting than to run down to the local record or department store to get the latest cellophane-wrapped Beatles LP, found alphabetized by artist in the racks of records! Fast-forward to the present day and it’s interesting to note that turntables physically haven’t really changed all that much, but how they connect is a different story. The Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT turntable gives you the option to connect to a stereo receiver either the old-fashioned way using RCA-jack cables (included), or by connecting via the newer wireless Bluetooth technology. Using Bluetooth means you basically don’t really need a receiver at all…so you can connect directly to any Bluetooth audio device, including wireless headphones, earbuds, or speakers. Making the connection using Bluetooth is as simple as putting your listening device in pairing mode, then pressing and holding the Bluetooth button on the turntable for two seconds. I discovered that the switch on the rear of the turntable needs to be set to “Line/Aux” when using Bluetooth. If you connect using the RCA cables to a stereo receiver and it has “Phono” inputs, then this switch needs to be set to “Phono”. That’s it, couldn’t be simpler! Also make sure when connecting to a receiver that you connect the ground wire, or you will hear a horrible humming sound. To make it easy, the ground wire is conveniently part of the RCA cable. I didn’t see any mention of this in the instructions. The turntable was an easy setup right out of the box. Of course, having prior experience with turntables was a bonus in my case. Fortunately, the instructions should be able to quickly guide you effortlessly through the setup process. About the only other thing I found missing in the instructions was how to install the dust cover, but it’s easy to figure out without too much trouble and it’s pretty self-evident how it attaches. The operation and features of the turntable itself are basic and unlike higher end equipment, there’s nothing to adjust and that’s probably a good thing for most people just wanting to listen to records. There’s no fussing with things like adjusting tonearm balance, anti-skating force, or platter speed. Those are things best left to audiophiles who are likely to spend thousands of dollars on expensive high-end turntables. I found the tonearm works smoothly and quietly with simple start and stop button controls. With the AT-LP70XBT model, you need to lift the dust cover for button access, while some of the other Audio-Technica models have buttons on the front of the turntable. I’m not sure which is better, but I think I like the cleaner look of the AT-LP70XBT better. While the phono cartridge is fixed on the tonearm and can’t be upgraded, at least the stylus can be replaced if and when it wears out or becomes damaged in transport. There is a clip on the tonearm support to lock it down for obvious safety reasons when moving the turntable, not only to protect the stylus but also your precious vinyl records if they happen to be left on the turntable. It plays the standard LP record albums at 33 1/3 RPM and comes with an adapter to play 45 RPM records. There is a selector lever switch at the base of the tonearm to select record size, so it’s important to set that switch to 7” when playing 45 RPM records or else the tonearm will set down on the felt platter. The normal setting is 12” for playing 33 1/3 RPM record albums. It’s been years since I have listened to my record collection and it’s fun to hear them again, complete with pops and scratches from hours of playing with reckless abandon. Whether you’re young or old like me, the affordable and easy-to-use AT-LP70XBT turntable from Audio-Technica will bring your dusty old record collection back to life to enjoy once again.

It includes a AT-VM95C stylus and is compatible with all AT VM95 series replacement cartridges if you ever feel like upgrading your stylus. The turntable is capable of playing both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records, and can play both 7 and 12 inch records. An adapter is included to play 45s, but Audio-Technica made the head-scratching decision to not include anywhere to store the adapter on the turntable itself, unlike the LP60 before it. Considering I don't play 45s very often, I'll probably put this thing in a drawer somewhere and completely forget about it. That is really the only "negative" experience I've had with this ... MoreThe Audio-Technica LP70XBT is an absolutely fantastic turntable. Considering I don't play 45s very often, I'll probably put this thing in a drawer somewhere and completely forget about it. That is really the only "negative" experience I've had with this turntable, which for me personally, isn't even a real negative. Everything else has been phenomenal. Setup was a breeze. Everything comes packaged very securely and you have to do a little bit of assembly to get setup. You have to put the platter on and use an included ribbon to move the belt to the drive mechanism. It sounds more intimidating than it actually is. It only take a few seconds and you're ready to go. Bluetooth setup is equally quick and simple. If you've ever set up a bluetooth device before, you know what to expect. Hold the bluetooth button till it flashes, then put your speaker into pairing mode, and voila, you should be connected. Once connected, the turntable will automatically connect every time you turn it on and the speaker is also on. Performance is very good. I was very satisfied with the sound quality. However, I still prefer using a wired setup, either with headphone or my speakers. But it's nice to have the wireless option as well. Using the turntable is very nice with it's fully automatic operation. The way it works is you place your record on the platter, and then just hit start, and the tone arm automatically lifts and moves over to the record and lowers. Once the record reaches the end (or you hit the "stop" button) the tone arm will once again lift, and return to the resting position so that you can either flip the record over, or remove it completely. The whole process works perfectly and takes just a little bit of work off of you. However, if you prefer placing the stylus manually, you can of course still do that. Overall, the LP70XBT is an all around great turntable which is well built, easy and fun to use. I highly recommend for anyone that is looking for a great turntable.

Having grown up with the transition from cassette tapes to CDs to streaming, the idea of a record player seems kinda dumb… but this record player…excuse me… turntable… brought a joy to the listening experience that I did not realize I was missing.Mechanically there’s not much to this player - it is a nice looking piece of plastic with a metal platter driven by a rubber drive belt. The ability to use Bluetooth or RCA plugs for connection to speakers is a nice touch. Bluetooth pairing is simple and quick. If you are are wiring the connection make sure to turn on or off the built-in phono equalizer function. The magic happens when you press the Start button and the fully-automatic feature moves the tonearm into position and begins playing the music. That initial cracking and popping before the music starts is a primal magic that triggers something deep so that when that first note hits your whole body just absorbs the music.Having missed the record buying experience of my youth, I raided my parents basement and found a few hundred LPs collecting dust. It’s been a joy over the last week digging through the collection and discovering new artists I’d never heard of along with more modern music. I’ve encountered more than my fair share of records that are scratched and skip or were never properly put back into dust jackets and are just filthy. While some things can’t be solved without replacing the record entirely, this turntable does a pretty good job of handling minor glitches with the records but it will get hung up on occasion.Audio-Technica offers 6 additional stylus that can be used with this turntable. They have fun names like “conical bonded” or “micro linear nude” with prices all over the map. I you are into that kind of thing you have choices if you don’t like the stylus included. Oh and in case you are a computer person like me, stylus in this case refers to the needle, not the input device we use to write on tablets. If I had to offer a suggestion for improvement, the plastic dust cover is a great addition during playback if kids or pets are in the home to avoid disaster, but practically I would have preferred the Start and Stop buttons be positioned outside of the dust cover. It seems odd to me that I place the record, press Start and then close the lid. I would rather place the record, close the lid then press Start but that is not an option if you plan to use the dust cover. The thing is removable so you might never even use it.
Bluetooth + LP records, who could have predicted that would be a thing? Although this marriage has existed for a while, I wasn’t invited to the celebration until just recently when I became aware of this model from Audio Technica. At one point, you could take your hand-cranked record player out on safari and entertain the creatures conspiring to eat you, or maybe go out on a picnic and leave a little corner of your picnic blanket for your record player, your sweetheart and some ants. Today, most people have one or more Bluetooth devices that would easily accommodate an input from a wireless connection from across the room, like this new turntable from Audio Technica, a stalwart manufacturer of audio products since 1962. Convenience is king for many, and this arrangement combining the nostalgic, somewhat inconvenient and impractical, but romantic and storied technology of vinyl records and wireless connectivity (as well as connected, your choice) is an alluring combination. This particular model is the latest version of a popular turntable line that has been improved with a better cartridge, arm geometry and body improvements at a modest price increase.Throughout the history of record players, there have been a wildly divergent variety of models available at all levels of price. From a few dozen dollars, to hundreds of thousands of dollars, you could find a player that would suit your budget and needs. All of them potentially play the same records, with varying degrees of quality and grinding of the grooves. The objective of all of these players should be to play your records with reliably good sound while not wearing out the grooves of your records with excessive force. Record players of lower price, tend to fall into the group that might take your new, pricey, Taylor Swift record and turn it into the audio version of her cat’s scratching post. Pricier units are less likely to cause as much damage as less expensive units, but they also are causing minimal damage with every play. Friction is friction. The two elements of wear are typically from the downward force and the side-wall centrifugal force. Good turntables usually allow accommodation of different brands and quality levels of cartridges and that means needing to have the ability to adjust the downward force as well as the side wall force with an adjustment called anti-skating. Both adjustments would be required to compensate for a variety of possible physical cartridge sizes. On this unit, there is only one cartridge ever expected to be used, so, the weight and anti-skating is already accounted for and not adjustable as there is no need for adaptability to different cartridges. Fortunately, the stylus (needle) is also replaceable with any of five different cartridge-compatible models via different tip geometries and prices. Note that the manufacturer’s specifications state that you may be in the market for a new stylus every 300 hours of play. The cartridge used here is the AT-VMN95C supplied with a conical-shaped stylus tip. Styli upgrades compatible for this model of cartridge are available in elliptical bonded, elliptical nude, microlinear and Shibata styles at different price points with individual unique advantages.Although I don’t go to rodeos very often, this wasn’t my first and I have had experience with a number of turntables, admittedly on the moderately-priced vintage side. This turntable is butter. From the handsome packaging and smooth setup that only had me looking at the instructions as an afterthought, this belt-driven beauty appears well made, feels good to the touch and sounds better than I expected. The auto start and stop features used here are my personal minimum for a turntable, as who wants to have to attend to a stylus endlessly circling the inner circumference of the record, wearing out the stylus and the inner groove if you forget to take it off? Somebody, but not me.Regarding connections, there are low-level phono outputs via RCA connectors including a ground wire and also a line level output that utilizes the same RCA connectors through use of a switch. This allows use of the built-in preamp with the required RIAA equalization that permits the turntable’s output to go into any input of a receiver or other audio device when there is no phono-level input or Bluetooth. Keep in mind that the included RCA to RCA cable with ground wire is fairly short at about 3.5 feet and most likely was selected for its compatible capacitance rating to the cartridge used. So, trying to extend the cable with another or longer RCA to RCA cable may not be advisable for optimal frequency response and noise level performance. There is also a removable cover and 45 rpm adapter included. The game-changing Bluetooth capability with A2DP and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio, Qualcomm aptX audio, SBC and Bluetooth version 5.2 will probably be the main attraction to this unit for those wanting to leverage the use of an existing Bluetooth speaker as the sound source. I tried it with a large boombox and it worked like a charm. The sound was pretty consistent with the way the boombox normally sounded but maybe just a little shy on the higher end of the frequency scale. Although that could just be the vintage Kate Bush and Cocteau Twins albums I was playing at the time. Certainly, one of the charms of the wireless turntable, is just the sheer disconnectedness and convenience of not having the proximity limitation that the low-level signals of a turntable historically demanded. Just for fun, I alternated between playing the original LP version of Prince’s Purple Rain on the phono-level output and the Spotify version via Bluetooth from an iPhone and switching back and forth on a mid-priced Denon receiver. They were comparable enough, although trying to get the levels the same was a struggle! I’ll leave it to others to wax poetic about the warmness of analog, etc. Although I don’t think that a $250 turntable with a conically-tipped stylus is going to drive anyone to audio nirvana, it will certainly get you into nirvana’s neighborhood. So, to wrap this review into a bow, I would say that this turntable brought a smile to my face, allowed me to access some albums I haven’t heard in many years and made me think of ways that I could use a turntable that I previously wouldn’t have thought of. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to access their old or new record collections and doesn’t have a lot of cash to sink into a pricier new player that might achieve a higher level of precision. Keep in mind that there is a pathway to somewhat better performance through replacement styli of more advantageous tip geometry for record-life enhancement and performance.Recommended for the intended audience and in my opinion, far superior to some of the junkier competitors out there.
The experience of listening to music is one of the things I enjoy so much, I could not conceive life without music. It can also be connected via RCA and has a switch to choose the Phono audio output (without pre-amplification) or audio line output (pre-amplified audio) to connect to speakers with amplifier or to an amplifier with passive speakers. This combination makes this product very interesting and functional. To connect the turntable to an audio system is very simple, the Bluetooth function is activated by pressing a button on the turntable, Bluetooth is activated in the sound device, the pairing is done and ready, you can start using it, the turntable supports the Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio codec which allows better stability in the transfer of data avoiding cuts in the audio. The sound quality is very good, I really enjoyed every second, it has been a very pleasant experience. The turntable is fully automatic, just place the disc and press a button and the music playback process will begin, it also has a stop button that performs the opposite process to stop the music and return the arm to its resting position, the lock is placed, the dust cover is closed and that's it. Personally I am more inclined towards products that are of good quality and easy to use, I mean that products that make the process of using them more efficient, I consider that they make me save time and enjoy using them more. Next to the start and stop buttons is the button to change the RPM from 33 to 45 depending on the vinyl format we use.You can also perform the vinyl playback process manually, I find both manual and automatic ways to be quite fun to use. I think there is no way to describe the experience of hearing the turntable needle before your favorite song starts. The design of the turntable is great, the black and silver color combination has always been one of my favorites. The transparent dust cover lets you see how well built and finished each part of the turntable is. The only thing I noticed a little fragile is the start button, it works without any problem, but when I press it, it feels like it is a little loose and rubs against some internal plastic. Maybe it's just me, I don't think it's something serious or that interferes with the user experience, it's more of a personal preference. In summary, if you want to dust off your records and you have bluetooth speakers, this turntable is certainly the closest thing to the original experience of a few decades ago, the product is well designed and is of good quality. Audio Technica has great experience in this field and it can be noticed in their products. I can definitely recommend it.
The AT-LP70XBT by Audio-Technica was a great option for us as we are not extreme audiophiles but appreciate the ease of use, convenience and sound quality this turntable offers. It starts with an easy setup process that essentially involves installing the platter and drive belt, placing the felt on the platter, sliding the hinges in the dust cover and then onto the turntable chassis, removing twist tie/foam from the swing arm and releasing the arm rest clamp, removing the plastic stylus guide, setting the Phono-Line switch to Line position, plugging in the power cord and then pairing the turntable with a Bluetooth device (speaker). The turntable can be paired with up to eight devices but can only utilize one at a time. One can also connect to “Aux” or line level input powered speakers, such as sound bars or other devices directly with the included RCA cable. Again, set the Phono-Line to Line to use the internal, equalized phono preamp. Lastly, easily connect to a home stereo with RCA cables and set the Phono-Line to Phono to bypass the internal phono preamp. It's great that this wireless, belt driven turntable allows one the flexibility to put the turntable anywhere within 10’ of the Bluetooth device you’ll be using to listen to albums. All one needs is an electrical outlet and you have the freedom of not needing to worry about being connected to a complete home stereo system. Take it and a Bluetooth speaker to a friend’s house and easily share the ability to listen to some favorite vinyl. This fully automatic turntable can play either 33-1/3 or 45 RPM records and offers high-fidelity audio. Some of the technical points of the AT-LP70XBT are that it features an AT-VM95C integral, dual moving magnet cartridge and conical stylus for excellent channel separation and low distortion. One can upgrade the stylus to Elliptical, Elliptical Nude, MicroLinear or Shibata that vary in price from $69 to $199. Additional design aspects are a J-shaped tonearm, three-piece chassis construction, along with a die-cast aluminum platter and external AC adapter. Audio-Technica states they’ve engineered the design to minimize tracking errors and dampen resonance for improved sound quality. Our experience has been quite positive with how the turntable functions and the sound quality it provides. From a user standpoint it is extremely easy to operate given its automatic functions and the tone arm glides quite smoothly. It’s a reasonable price point for anyone wanting to enjoy the ease of Bluetooth connectivity from a trusted name in audio. We’ve enjoyed the opportunity to break out some of our old vinyl and return to the unique sound a record provides.
As vinyl becomes more and more popular again, it appears that turntables continue to be pushed out by a variety of makers. However, Audio Technica continues to put out superior products and with this turntable they fill that entry level marketplace perfectly!First, right out of the box you get that premium look and feel with this turntable. It is an extremely simple process to which then you just plug the power in and pop the dust cover on and you are ready to go.The usability and performance is where this turntable really sets itself apart as it could not be any easier to use! For those new to turntables they have included the Bluetooth feature here where you can pair it to any speaker as you would your phone. However, they have also included the preamp built in so that if you do wish to use external speakers using the included RCA cables that is an option here as well. From a performance aspect, where this turntable sets itself apart is the phono cartridge. The audio quality here is superb and the included stylus is great when it comes to channel separation and low distortion. Also the ability to change out the stylus is a great feature here to customize your listening experience if you wish to jump further into the vinyl space.Overall, there is nothing further you could ask for when it comes to an entry level turntable to help you get your foot in the door when it comes to vinyl. The ease of use stands out tremendously here where it does not sacrifice sound quality and performance. Then the ability to upgrade the stylus provides the ability to venture into the vinyl space further without needing to upgrade your turntable. For that reason I would highly recommend this turntable to those looking to jump into the space or even if they are upgrading from their initial entry level turntable.
I have another turntable that’s a little more geared to the audiophile crowd, but my daughter recently expressed an interest in vinyl and so I wanted to get something that could work well in our family room. Audio Technica to the rescue! No surprise there as their reputation and history in this market speaks for itself. Connecting was as simple as pressing a button on each device and five seconds later we were listening to vinyl with the wonderful flexibility of being able to place the cordless Bluetooth speaker anywhere in the room we wanted. So much of the sound quality will be dependent upon the quality of speaker and the record you’re playing but… I’m pretty darn impressed. The modern pop music my daughter prefers sounded clear and warm. The older records I tried from my own collection also sounded the way I know them to sound. I know purists will scoff at Bluetooth sound, but again that’s not the target audience for this record player. It’s a $200 device and I think it punches above its weight in terms of audio quality. The other thing that really makes this the perfect family room turntable is that it’s fully automatic in terms of the tone arm when starting a record and reaching the end of the side. So far, we’ve had no issue with this or any skips and it’s just a great quality of life feature for something like this where the expectation is you could theoretically be sending the audio to Bluetooth headphones and moving about. Nobody wants to have the click and scratch of the needle reaching the end of the side piped right into their ears if they can avoid it. It’s just a nice feature and I frankly wish my more expensive turntable had it.And of course I should mention that you still have the option to send audio to a receiver or amp via the RCA connectors. There’s a 45 adapter included, so you’re also covered there if you’ve got a collection of old singles. What else? I really like the size and weight. It’s got a small footprint so won’t dominate your furniture and it’s extremely light. It’s also super easy to assemble; my daughter got the hinges on the cover on without even looking at the instructions. The only thing I think is a little weird is the placement of the speed selector. Granted, this isn’t something that’s probably going to get a ton of use on a daily basis and I’m not sure where else I’d put it… but it’s just kind of in an awkward spot. I actually quite like the design of the buttons on the player and wonder a little why they didn’t choose to just make it another button. But this does nothing to diminish the enjoyment of using the turntable and it’s an easy recommend. $200 leaves a lot of money to buy more records!
I have always heard good things about Audio Technica, I'm glad I was able to pick up this player. They call it one of their beginner turntables', but I feel like I have gone through quite a few players in the past that didn't hold a candle to what this one has going on for it. Though I do understand the differences that this unit versus a much more expensive unit can have for options, this one however does make you question the need for anything else. The unit looks really sharp on our record stand and has caught the eye of everyone that has been over lately, this particular one is black and silver, but they also make a black & bronze and a white & silver colored player(s) as well in this model.Right Out of the box the unit comes with everything you would expect ... MoreI have always heard good things about Audio Technica, I'm glad I was able to pick up this player. They call it one of their beginner turntables', but I feel like I have gone through quite a few players in the past that didn't hold a candle to what this one has going on for it. If anything it took longer to unpackage then it did to set it up.Bluetooth actually sounds really good out of this player.Testing it out; I connected my headphones, then my primary Onkyo stereo receiver, then finally my portable JBL Authentics; while all sounded great and offered their each unique benefits,I ultimately left it connected to my JBL so I could keep my record area away from the rest of my multimedia in the home. The sound is amazing when combined, I'm not gonna lie, if this is Audio Technica's 'beginner' model, I couldn't imagine it getting better, for me it sounded that good, but if that's not enough, this unit allows for upgradeable Audio Tehcnica stylus models (AT-VMN95 [C,E,EN,ML or SH])to obtain even more refined sound quality.Pros:Stylish UnitBelt DrivenUpgradable StylusWired or 1 button press Wireless (Bluetooth 5.2)[pairs up to 8] for Audio options33 & 45 RPM compatibleJ-shaped tonearm (no balancing or other setup required)Cons:Nothing about this unit for me felt bad, or needed correction, Everything went smoothly while setting up and connecting and playing.Overall this turntable is fantastic, it looks great, sounds great, has the ability to connect to bluetooth, as well as upgrade the stylus.I'm really happy with this table, and would definitely recommend giving Audio Technica a solid chance.
