Caution: There are two different sizes for this desktop stan

The B&H webpage for the Audioengine A2 + speakers did not include this stand as an accessory. I did a separate search on the B&H online site for the speaker stand & came up with the DS-2 which I assumed was the appropriate stand for the ordered A2 + speakers (particularly due to the 2 inclusion in the model number. It was only once delivery of the speakers and stand did I suspect that they were oversized. A further search revealed that there is a smaller stand DS-1 which is the one I should have ordered. I returned them for an exchange & incurred a return shipping cost. The appropriately sized stands should clearly be listed as an accessory for these speakers.

Lifts my Edifier R1280T bookshelf speakers up and tilts them back at a perfect height and angle, optimizing the sound for my desktop listening. Sturdy, solid support. A little on the small side, perhaps, for the R1280T, but the larger size would have been too big. Still, the support is solid and they look nice.

I have to confess I did not like the look of these black blobs so I bought beautiful stainless steel Kanto stands which are about the same size. Something was lacking in my HD3s. Highs sounded a little shrill, and there was a thinner, slightly tinny sound. So I got the black Audioengine stands to compare. What a major difference. Immediately there was a fuller, richer, warmer, and smoother sound with better definition of each instrument in the recording and a bigger soundstage. The HD3 speakers with these stands are everything I could possibly want in audiophile quality desktop speakers. I'm even feeling friendlier toward the stands because they have been so good for me. I have the HD3 speakers
9 January 2021

I have the HD3 speakers (love them) and decided that I wanted these stands. While I like the design of these stands I wish that they were sized to match the footprint of the speaker.Since the stands have a slightly smaller footprint, they look mismatched and aren’t aesthetically pleasing, even if they do the job they’re intended to do.The level of quality / excellence with the HD3s is so high that I was frankly surprised by the stands’ “fitment” and thought maybe I had ordered incorrectly.Hence the 2 star deduction.

I love the wooden vaneer
24 April 2022

I love the wooden vaneer and the covers. They look great on my wooden desk. That's not the mind blowing part here though. It's the imaging. Granted I opted for the wedge stands too, but it's about as close to being able to listen to binaural audio as speakers can get. Voices sound like they're coming out of the center of my monitor, and I can place sounds from a live recording almost within 180 degrees in front of me. It's crazy good imaging. I appreciate the clarity with bass boost off, but it's pretty great with it on too, and ai don't have a sub. Let me say, for a 3" speaker, there are lower tones coming through than I would have expected. I will have to add the sub later, but these are fantastic as a pair of stand alone desktop speakers. Perfect For What I got Them For
6 July 2018

Okay, this is called "out of the box" thinking. If you think I got these for my vomputer speakers you would be wrong. i got them to sit under my Klipsch center chanel speaker. It is on a shelf above my 40 inch Hitachi L.D. since mid/high frequencies are very directional, I wanted to have the speaker tilting downward more. I had a piece of 2" x 6" wood unerneath it. I wasn't concerned it would slide off. However, when I saw these I thought they would be better. I put four rubber stick on feet underneath them so they don't slide. The lip oin the front keeps the center channel firmly in place. The weight of the speaker pushes down so it won't slide at all.

Personal Preference
15 January 2021

These do what they are meant to do. They give the speakers a good angle for better listening and they do take away the vibration transfer from the speaker to the desk. Other than that though, they aren’t really much to speak on. Kinda disappointed at how basic these stands are for over $20. That being said, I would still recommend these to those people that want something to get rid off the vibration and create a better angle while sticking with the AudioEngine brand. The speakers do fit on the stands perfectly and look like an actual part of the speaker.

Product received as advertised but hard to justify the price tag.
11 October 2020

It is what it is -- a rubber/plastic stand for speakers. Nothing special. It certainly gets the job done although I would have appreciated some more weight/density/structure to them, especially the sides. The sides "give in" too much say when you're trying to adjust the position of the speakers. They're not very solid in that sense. I've only had them one day but I haven't noticed any improved "acoustic brilliance" from the elevated orientation. I am using some very worn in DS1 speakers.Perhaps I am just a simpleton but these stands are just okay. Not worth $30 US imo. I will keep them unless I find something better. All in all, product

These complement the speaker setup
13 January 2021

These complement the speaker setup well. Remember reading that speaker should be placed on stable solid surface. I assume that can mean hard or can mean these stands. The bottom of speakers a2+ already have a cushioned bottom so I’m sure the cabinet of speaker does not require something hard like a bookshelf. Trying different arrangements of placement in listening position and using these stands ...I was able to place the speakers for optimum effect. Again just another great value product from audio engine.

I love that these exist, but.1) they slide. the bottom of the HD3 speaker has material that prevents it from slipping when placed directly on the desk, but the stands do not. so when you use the stands, the speakers on a desk tend to want to gravitate toward each other (because they are connected by a cable that doesn't have enough length to touch the floor). or if you accidentally touch them they glide like a puck on an air-hockey table.2) the HD3's in Walnut are beautiful. the stands cheapen the look. the plastic/silicone stand is a lighter blueish grey color whereas the speaker cones and removable grills are dark black.3) the lines of the speakers are perfect but the stands are a plastic/silicone product and have a nonlinear bow to them. so as you stare at the ... MoreI love that these exist, but.1) they slide. the bottom of the HD3 speaker has material that prevents it from slipping when placed directly on the desk, but the stands do not. so when you use the stands, the speakers on a desk tend to want to gravitate toward each other (because they are connected by a cable that doesn't have enough length to touch the floor). or if you accidentally touch them they glide like a puck on an air-hockey table.2) the HD3's in Walnut are beautiful. the stands cheapen the look. the plastic/silicone stand is a lighter blueish grey color whereas the speaker cones and removable grills are dark black.3) the lines of the speakers are perfect but the stands are a plastic/silicone product and have a nonlinear bow to them. so as you stare at the speaker and admire its beauty, the stand looks like its curvy and wobbly and nonuniform.that being said, the angle is perfect, they make the speakers look cool because of the tilt, and i would recommend them... until a better product exists
