AudioQuest - Black Lab - Subwoofer Cable 20m
Contrary to their name, Black Labs heritage actually traces back to Newfoundland in the 1700s, when they were first known as Saint Johns Dogs. When this large Newfoundland-based breed was mixed with smaller water dogs, the result is the dog now known as the Labrador. Labradors (Black or otherwise) are known for their dedication to duty, their highly developed sense of smell and hearing, and their endless capacity for playing fetch (they are retrievers after all!). These traits combine to make Labradors excellent service dogs for the handicapped as well as wonderful pets. Solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) ConductorsSolid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. Black Labs solid Long-Grain Copper allows a smoother and clearer sound than cables using regular OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification regarding loss without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and definitively better performance. Foamed-Polyethylene InsulationAny solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Black Lab uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials. Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS)100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipments ground reference requires AQs Noise-Dissipation System. Noise-Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipments ground plane.

Check, check and check again. The packaging is very high quality, and I have no doubt that this cable would have worked wonders alongside my new subwoofer. However, the vintage Kenwood amp that I am using to power my vinyl system does not take a sub input and I cannot use the cable. As it's Richer Sounds I have experienced top quality service, hence the five stars. Schoolboy error on my part..

I bought this AudioQuest Black Lab Subwoofer cable as I have a Q Acoustics 7070si sub which suffers from what sounds like a ground hum. The cable is of a good quality, but unfortunately hasn't fixed the hum issue. Will keep the cable though as it is a quality product.

I exhaustedly researched all streaming integrated amps on the market. This ticks almost every box. Connections are 100% ideal for me, the design is excellent, (I am also a product designer), the remote is a lovely weight and design, the unit is 150watts, it’s class D, low energy in use and standby, low heat output. It starts fast, connects to the app instantly, connects to radio stations Playfi does not, the app is excellent, the volume is incremental rather than blocks, playfi again failed here, standout details: the 2 set speaker connection is so important for me, the screen has the time of day, station details, but rate. The App is excellent as someone who has tried out all the available options. The Richer Sounds VIP price was the final winning detail. I have to say I was a huge skeptic about whether or not cables would make a difference but these made me a believer. I run dual SVS subs and just used regular cables that were like $20. They sounded good but a bit boomy and I had to leave the level at -20 or so on the app. Once I changed to these the bass got alot tighter and I can go all the way to -12 on the app and the bass just fills everything in. These made a huge difference in the sound. Great cables
An affordable nicer cable. I like this brand of cables (I have a few more by them). It seems to have helped an intermittent humming sound coming from my subwoofer. The cable has an extra wire (one on each end) meant for grounding. I attached the one on the receiver end to the grounding screw on the back panel of my receiver and the one on the other end to an available nearby screw on the back panel of my subwoofer (my subwoofer doesn't seem to have a grounding screw). It explains to do this on the back of the box that the cable came in. It also explains to connect the cable with the arrows that are on each end of the cable pointing towards the subwoofer. It's been several days now and the overall sound quality of my subwoofer seems better, too. Nice. A good price, too.
Having had a quick look online for a suitable cable for my surround system and specifically my sub woofer, I decided to go for the AudioQuest Black Lab Sub 3m based on existing reviews. My original cable was unfortunately too short for the new setup. I checked various suppliers and found Richer Sounds to be the best in terms of price including delivery and were a name I knew I could trust having bought from them previously. The cable turned up in a matter of days and was a simple connect to amp and then sub woofer. The cable comes with an additional spur cable to reduce hum and was easy to connect via screws on each device. The sub woofer is now producing a great range of bass without feedback and was worth every penny.
After consulting with best buy tech support online they recommended this cable and after further research I saw no reason to question the recommendation. Therefore I purchased the AQ Blacklab (3M length) subwoofer cable to bridge together a Yamaha AV 780 receiver and Kipsch R-120SW. (I also purchased the AQ Rocket11 speaker cables along with the AQ banana plugs- no concerns). Packaging featuring a black lab was nice and cable was of a quality build although I had no use for the ground wire connection at the current moment and used electrical tape to isolate the ground wire. Packaging featuring a black lab was nice and cable was of a quality build although I had no use for the ground wire connection at the current moment and used electrical tape to isolate the ground wire. As for performance the cable worked for less than two weeks. My subwoofer stoped working and Initially I refused to believe the cable could be the culprit. I placed the wire into the Sub 2 out on the receiver and the Sub worked for a day or so. So as result I winded up returning both the the AV Receiver and Sub believing one or the other was defective. After getting the new units setup they still didn't work. Went and bought a insignia Subwoofer cable ( didn't feel as insulated) and worked right away. So I assume the wire had a short on the termination connection or was defective. Therefore I was a little disappointed with the durability and I assume this was an isolated defective product that resulted in me having to re-box and return a working AV receiver and Sub due to a faulty subwoofer cable. In short I Returned this product but have been satisfied with other AQ products. Sad that I had to return a quality Yamaha AV unit and Klipsch Sub for a bad cable.
I was having an issue with my sit/stand desk causing feedback to my Kanto Sub6 every time I would raise or lower the desk. Changed to this cord with the grounding capability and that feedback is gone. Fixed my issue and now I don't even think of it.
Completely eliminating the random loud hum coming from by 3-year old Klipsch subwoofer. The low frequency humming would cause my living room to vibrate. Plugging the subwoofer's power cord into an outlet shared by the other components and unplugging all other components from the AV receiver did not help. I didn't know my 10-year old subwoofer cable could be the culprit until I stumbled on a thread that related subwoofer hum to bad subwoofer cable. The AudioQuest cable has not only eliminated the hum, it has also improve the quality of sound coming from the sub.
This is a great cable that has ground lugs at both ends besides the grounded shield that is part for the plug end collar. The ground lug ensures that any crossover coupling from adjacent power cords, cables and equipment will not interfere with the signal being carried to your sub-woofer. No hum and a real tight base sound is the result. Buy it and you'll love it. Another neat feature is that the cable is manufactured such that there is indicators on the plug ends as to which direction you plug this cable in. It works either way but for an audiophile if you want a pure transfer of signal by knowing the direction of the grain structure in the wire can make a difference. Love it !
