Easy to use, can replace eggs for scrambled, French Toast etc.

AUGASON FARMS 11.9 Oz. Dried Whole Egg Powder, comes in a Resealable Pouch with a zip lock type closure. The powder reconstitutes with equal parts water. It does taste like eggs. Works best for me, for items like scrambled eggs, French Toast, adding eggs to recipes. Texture is good. Flavor is like eggs. Would be great to have on hand if you run out of eggs or in emergency situations. I found that after opening the container I got some of the powder on the zip lock zipper and I could not rezip it, with powder on the zip lock. I used a Gripstick to close it airtight. This worked perfectly. Not uncommon with powders sometimes have difficulty with a zip lock. Recommend these eggs!

The 33 ounce container has 72 servings of 2 1/2 tablespoons each, which is approximated 1 egg prepared. The bulk egg powder comes sealed in a gallon sized metal can and includes a reusable plastic lid. The use-by date on the bottom of my can is 17 Feb, 2022 (10 years from production). It also states on the label that once opened it needs to be used within one year. We will vacuum seal some to extend that time frame. Great for camp/emergency, good for you

This product is NOT any higher in cholesterol than eggs you would use in the shell. Contrary to what another reviewer said, one egg prepared according to pkg directions contains186 mg of cholesterol, which DOES NOT exceed daily recommendations. Current medical guidelines say 300 mg is the upper level to avoid increasing your risk of heart disease. This info can be found on Mayo Clinic's website where it also mentions that studies show that eggs do not seem to raise cholesterol like animal fats/trans fats do. People need to stop being afraid to eat eggs %26 be thankful we have them to eat, especially in powdered form for camping or emergencies.

These work great as a replacement for fresh eggs both in cooking straight up or using as ingredients in a recipe. The mix is easy to reconstitute with water and mixes quickly with a flat whisk. I mixed up a 4 egg portion with a tiny bit of AF moo mix and some salt and pepper making eggs that would work well on a muffin or sandwich. I just ate them with a little jelly and it was just like cooking up some fresh eggs. They cooked fast in a hot skillet and I flipped them in the nick of time because I was also washing dishes while I cooked. Probably best to give these your full attention just like you would fresh eggs. That said they still turned out tasty and they puffed up nicely just like a fresh egg does when mixed with a small bit of milk. They are perfect for a quick omlet too since as you can see what I made was like mini omlets. Some melted cheese would go well on them.

It worked better than I expected

I thought the Augason Farms Dried Whole Egg Powder would be a good addition to my pantry. I would never have to worry about not being able to bake because I was out of eggs. This would be a great product to have on hand for emergencies - you never know what will happen these days. I like how easy the package is to transport, with no breakage or refrigeration to worry about. The directions are very easy to follow. You can rehydrate and cook up for scrambled eggs or use in a recipe. I made a Bundt cake with the egg powder. It was simple to measure and add to my ingredients. My cake tasted just as I had expected. No different from the Bundts made with eggs. Thumbs up!

The taste and smell are too weird for me

Seeing the price of eggs and possible shortages I bought this in April 2022 and just opened it yesterday (Jan. 2023). I was hopeful this would fill in the void of not being able to afford todays price of eggs. The color of the power was fine until I mixed it with water then it looked a bit odd. The smell was weird. It doesn't smell like eggs at all. Trying to look over those two things I cooked em' up. After cooking the texture was a bit weird and the smell....What the heck is that smell??? Anyway, these DO NOT taste good at all to me. I'm so disappointed :( Being on SSI this was "NOT" a cheap purchase for me at all. I'm hoping to get a refund.

A #10 can like this contains about 72 eggs (or 6 dozen), which is probably more expensive than fresh, but knowing that there is no breakage, spoilage or refrigeration needed is worth something too.One thing that surprised me was that there was about 1/2 teaspoon of dried egg product on the top of the unopened can after I took off the plastic lid (before the metal lid was removed). I imaging that there is an abundance of egg powder in the factory that can get on everything, but it was still surprising to see.

Augason Farms Dried Whole Egg Powder came in handy when I didn't have enough eggs and didn't have time to run to the store. There are 26 eggs in this tiny package! My family wanted breakfast for dinner so I opened the package, threw out the oxygen absorber, and started cooking scrambled eggs per the package instructions. I made the equivalent of 6 eggs by adding 1 cup of powder to 1 cup of warm water (milk would work too). Mix really well! I added butter to my pan and added the mixture. It doesn't seem too appealing in the mixture form. But once that mixture hit the pan (and butter) it smelled just like regular eggs. I added in some cheese and cooked sausage. Tasted like regular eggs and adding in the extra cheese and sausage helps elevate the flavor. I purchased quite a few of these in early March 2020, back then they were only $3 or $4 per pouch. I never ended up needing them. Thank goodness! I have about 4 1/2 years of food stored up, and these make for a great addition. I just now opened one up and tried it for breakfast, they have a good flavor, but they came out dry, so I would recommend adding more water than the recipe on the package calls for. There is a bit of a strange aftertaste to them, but nothing too bad. This morning I added sour cream, green peppers and onions to the eggs, and paired them with Augason Farms Oatmeal, freeze dried sausage cooked in bacon grease, some fresh fruit from my garden and raw milk from Bessie. I’m glad I purchased these at the price I did, but with them being almost $19 now, I would highly recommend you raise your own chickens and freeze dry your own eggs. This evening I’ll be rotating all my canned goods and running to Walmart to stock up on more canned and freeze dried fruit.
