A good dehumidifier for 2 bedroom apartment

**Good**: Very efficient, easy to operate, and it does the job. It can extract quite a lot of water in just 1-2 hours and bring the humidity down from about 80% to 60%. It also works well in a bigger room such as open dining/living room.**Not so good**: Hard to grab and move around because there is no handle at the top. Only 2 shallow notches on both sides. It makes this high pitch noise every now and then. Not sure why. It doesn't turn off completely once it reaches the desired humidity setting, the fan keeps running.

Overall really happy with this appliance. Unpack, plug in and start - very simple. Just a couple of minor things - you really need two people to unpack this item. My old model had a handle which made it easier to manage. This model has a small indent at the sides and I found it hard to get a grip to remove from the packaging. The same applies to removing the water tank. Only minimal spacing to grip the tank to slide it out. I have very weak hands so its harder for me to remove the tank. Apart from that appliance is doing what its supposed to do.

Pros: declared amount of water removed per day close to declared 10 liters.Cons: the display shows tiny numbers to set desired humidity. You need a magnifying glass to adjust it while it is blowing into your eyes. Compressor is too noisy to run during sleep, or even for comfort in the same room where you are. Also inspect for presence of filter on delivery; mine is still missing, which means the guts of the device will be covered in dust.

Best investment ever
12 May 2022

I live in sydney and wet and hot summer weather, my unit get mouldy everywhere. When i turned on this AusClimate Dehumidifier first time, the humidity in my living room was 85%, within 12 hours it collected 7 liter water. I was surprised how quick the humidity dropped to 75% within couple hours. Now i moved around this dehumidifier to every room, the best way is to close the door and window. I love this product so much, it has safe my life and i even tapped the machine and said thank you for working overtime 24 hours for the first week.

I know this machine is a good brand and it works well because people have it where I was dog sitting which is why I decided to get one, although I didn't realise it was the same machine - I thought I was getting a smaller version. I struggled to get it up the stairs. I find the instructions difficult (useless actually) and have been unable to get controls to do what the instructions say eg having it on a 30 or something (best I can get is 18). The other people had theirs set and all I had to do was turn it on and empty tank - so simple. I am old and a non techie but god I wish instructions could be written in English and less of the diagrams. I was happy with the service, delivery and ease of ordering and the price but I'm disappointed I know I am not getting the ... MoreI know this machine is a good brand and it works well because people have it where I was dog sitting which is why I decided to get one, although I didn't realise it was the same machine - I thought I was getting a smaller version. Shame as I expected to extract a lot of water because my bedroom carpet got wet in the storms early in the year. RobinP

Excellent product

I have completely worn out two of these Ausclimate 20l dehumidifiers over recent years and will definitely be purchasing a third when I need it. I find they will last for two years or more running continuously 24/7.It is very efficient in every way and will readily deal with a 1.2m x 1.2m tent in peak production. The LCD display emits zero light pollution to deal with and the unit is sufficiently quiet to run in an apartment without detection from neighbours.I highly recommend use of the continuous drainage feature, the tank fills relatively quickly and can be awkward to handle when full. If raising the unit above ground height to enable drainage into a bucket or tank it is critical that the base the unit sits on is rock solid. If raising the unit above ground height to enable drainage into a bucket or tank it is critical that the base the unit sits on is rock solid. If using the drainage feature I recommend leaving the styrofoam packing base on the unit so that the weight of the unit is not on the castor wheels. I have found the stems and the housing of the castors are weak and they can shift in their stance, causing the unit to be off square/balance, which leads to increased operating sound, particularly from the compressor. In fact, the unit's permanent castor setup is the only fault I can find with this product, I would like the unit to have a flat base and to be able to remove/not install the castors.I've purchased half a dozen dehumidifiers over the past decade. The Ausclimate 20l is next to perfect and, all things considered, is easily the best of its type on the market.

Fantastic little appliance!
23 July 2022

We bought this dehumidifier mainly because one of our bathrooms have no windows and the exhaust fan could only do so much. I was worried about moisture and mould because when this bathroom is not in use, we close it. For the last few months we've used this dehumidifier every time we take baths and showers. We turn it on for 3-4 hours and wow we are amazed at how much moisture it collects from the air! Usually we'd get 1/4 of a tank full. Room humidity would start off around 70% after a shower and it goes down to 30-40% after running this. There are options to set timer so that it turns off by itself. Or you could leave it running continuously until you reach the desired humidity (30% is the lowest).Well worth the money spent and we'd highly recommend! Humidity halved in 2 days
26 July 2022

Unfortunately the whole east coast ordered this unit the same day I did so we had long delay but now that it's arrived it is doing a great job. Humidity was 80 now 42% after 48 hours. Initial setup was easy with the included hose allowing continuous operation into a drain in the room. The timer seems a bit basic, no day or hour start setting but I guess in most settings you'd just turn it on for 8-12 hours when needed. Unit is no louder than a pedestal fan, obviously too early to tell how much power it's using but very happy with the purchase so far.

Ideal gadget to combat wet Sydney weather
10 June 2022

It does a fantastic job of keeping our room at the set humidity levels. All mould and mildew problems are gone after I purchased the AusClimate dehumidifier. Probably the best purchase I made this year.P.S sometimes in early mornings during winter, you might find that the room gets too dry, just increase the humidity settings to around 50 and that will sort it out. I usually keep it around 40

Works Great
7 November 2022

The dehumidifier is doing an excellent job. It’s not overly noisy but I wouldn’t want to be in a small room with it. I haven’t had one like this before that can be used to reduce humidity over summer so I hope that will make a big difference to one of our living areas without air con. The water container is awkward to get out and empty. Our old one (different brand) was a fantastic design with a lid and handle to carry. But it died just after the warranty ran out! This brand has a long warranty and so I believe it’s value is much greater because of that.
